11−11−15: Surprised to see that this location has closed. According to the cleaning crew, it will re-open in January ’16 under new ownership and a new name. I always found Fung Lum to be a decent albeit expensive cantonese food option considering it was at the airport. Apparently the location outside security at the international terminal is still open.

Definitely for the rich Chinese tourist travelers. Ordered a seafood dish and got a whole lot of BBQ meat, so feeling a bit ripped off since I’m essentially a pesca-vegetarian. I guess having only two pieces of shrimp equals it being«seafood.» If the price was $ 7, I would be like«OK,» but for $ 14, no way!

I’m writing this review in the context that it’s in the airport. After spending a 10+ days in Napa, I was ready to get my Asian food fix. When I saw dim sum was offered at SFO, I practically ran to get some. I first ordered the shrimp dumplings to test. Even though I expected it to be expensive, it was still more expensive than I thought it was going to be. 3 shrimp dumplings for almost $ 6! That’s insane. It was still pretty good though. I was at the airport for a few more hours(went early for my bf’s flight) and decided it was good enough to go back and get the wonton soup. The broth was bland, like really bland, but the wontons were really good. Just add some sriacha or lite soy sauce to the broth for some quick flavor and you’re all set! There were a lot of wontons in my soup. The wonton soup was more reasonable(for airport food) at $ 9 for the bowl. I would come back to this place the next time I’m at SFO.

Sorry, aber was soll denn sowas? Lesson learned.

Wow, this was bad. $ 20 wasted. The dim sum was cold and tasteless. The chow mein unspectacular and cold when they gave it to me. The pot stickers were tasteless balls of dough with forgettable seasoned pork. This is literally some of the worst food I have ever had, I could not even finish the second chicken egg roll, it tasted like a tofu lumpia pretending to be a hot dog. Yes, think about that simile… Avoid. You are better off going to the Boudin next door for a sourdough bowl.

I came here expecting Panda Express, fake asian quality food, and that’s what I got. I had the sweet and sour BBQ ribs and the teriyaki chicken with fried rice. The ribs were sweet but tough to chew, and while the sauce on the chicken was ok, the chicken itself was very dry. The service also wasn’t that great; the staff was unfriendly and I wasn’t even asked if I wanted a drink. All in all, the overpriced food wasn’t worth it.

I was excited to see authentic looking Chinese Food at an airport, and not the Panda Express type. I mean, how much more authentic than dim sum in bamboo steamers and hanging ducks by the window can it get? It was early in the morning and I was starving so I took advantage of the free meal voucher the airline gave me for messing up my flight and got fried rice with Chicken and string beans. The rice couldn’t have been more bland. I might as well have ordered white rice. The chicken with string beans was ok. I had to get some soy sauce in order to make it more flavorful. Their salmon actually looked pretty tasty but didn’t want to risk it. Even Panda would have gotten another star…

I don’t care what terminal you arrive into or depart from at San Francisco international Airport. As soon as you get inside this airport, run to the north foodcourt in international terminal G! I rarely give five stars to an airport quick service restaurant, but Fung Lum deserves it! Please note that I am giving five stars in the context of airport food. I think this place is a winner because the food is not too heavy and the flavors are balanced. I had a combo of lo mein, orange chicken, and tofu with us. The lo mein was perfect. It’s almost impossible to get lo mein that is not oily or too heavy. There were so much flavor in the noodles, but without all the sauce. Orange chicken actually tasted like orange. And tofu melted in my mouth! I also enjoyed for dessert sesame buns. They are one of my favorites from my time in China. They were perfection… rich toasted sesame with Sweet bean paste in the middle. And all of this for about $ 17. That’s what I love about the San Francisco airport… The majority of the restaurants are outposts of local favorites downtown.

Came here to get some hot green tea to help ease my sore throat. While sitting in the dining area, I noticed that this place seemed to have the most business of all the eating establishments in this area. They do have a mouthwatering display of hot food on steam trays a la Panda Express, various dim sum in baskets, salads, juices, jello, mango pudding, etc. out on display. Plus I guess other hot foods cooked to order. Prices seemed a bit high, but of course, it’s airport food. My green tea was reasonable at about 2 bucks(where the hot tea at the coffee places were running at about a buck more). Could definitely be a place to check out if ever back at the United terminal at SFO.

Greasy, soggy, bland– this is not your best option at the SFO airport. I found bits of veggies in my noodles; which seemed to be from quite a couple cookings ago.

I loooovvveeee this place. It satisfies my dim sum cravings and they are open in the morning! Still the best for airport food. Always delicious and never stale. What else can I say? Yes it’s pricey but what isn’t at an airport?

This review is for the pre-boarding restaurant. They are never open during their advertised open hours!!! :(:( I stopped in today prior to my flight hoping to grab some dim sum yum yum & finally someone was behind the counter! Yay! I realized I was a few minutes early when I asked if they were currently open & got an abrupt«NO». Not a «no, we’re open in a few minutes» just a rude«NO» shouted at me. I looked up the hours & asked if they opened at 8 as was advertised & the man just said no & started walking into the kitchen!- no explanation at all! I totally understand if they are only open during normal dim sum hours but if that’s the case, advertise it!

Whenever I pass through SFO around lunch or dinner time, I HAVE to get some Fung Lum. I love their chow mein and adore their sweet and sour spare ribs. Depending on how hungry I am, I get a second entrée. Recently this has been the salmon(they only give you one piece), but I’ve tried the Orange chicken and a couple of their other offerings as well. But none of these come close to the addictive sweet and sour spare ribs — which are sticky and chewy and tasty — just what I need to see me through a long cramped flight, or after I’ve arrived back home and need a little sustenance before hitting the road. Service is hyper-efficient, which is a must-have for an airport location and the reason I first started frequenting this place. Prices are ok for airport food — $ 8.50 for a single entrée, $ 12 for two. Enjoy!

As of Tues 9/9, they were open after 9pm(did not close at 4 as Unilocal currently states) Ordered Hong Kong noodle soup — egg noodle option with shrimp and pork wontons. Ready in 7 mins, piping hot, though the bok Choy, noodles, and wontons needed to cook another 2 – 3 mins to be ready. okay broth(a few squirts of the trusty sriracha rounds out the taste), nice firm noodles, lackluster wontons. They skin was just far too thick in areas where they were folded. In all, for $ 11, a solid meal to fill my belly before a red eye back home. Would definitely recommend and return here myself.

This review is for two things and two things only: the steamed barbecue pork buns and the sesame crunch dim sum, both of which are great here. These are my favorite dim sum snacks and Fung Lum never, ever disappoints. Eating warm dim sum from Fung Lum might just be my favorite part about flying United!

San Francisco International Airport actually has a decent food court. In comparison to other airports such as Philadelphia, we have a pretty good selection at SFO. From Boudin to a taqueria, the selection is pretty diverse. To complete the picture, you always need a Chinese food vendor right? Well, Fung Lum is different from the rest because this place actually serves up fresh dim sum. Now getting fresh, decent, dim sum at the airport does not come cheap. At $ 5.50 for 3 pieces of dim sum, you’re pretty much paying double the price for the convenience. This is a rediculous price to pay, and it’s almost impossible to justify, but when you’re at the airport, you’re pretty much locked in to what they have. Aside from dim sum, there is also the typical Chinese fast food. For roughly $ 12, you get your choice between either fried rice or chow mien, and two side dishes. Fung Lum also takes advantage of your situation and charges your double the normal price for pretty mediocre Chinese food. When I stopped by, I got one order of the pork dumplings(shu mai), the lunch box with two items: chow mien, broccoli beef, and spare ribs, as well as a bottle of oolong tea. My grand total? A smooth $ 21. If price is not a factor, then by all means, go straight for dim sum only. I can only imagine how expensive that airport meal can get though. All in all, Fung Lam does have pretty amazing dim sum, considering the fact that you’re inside an airport, but it sure makes you know that you’re paying a pretty penny for it. As far as the Chinese lunch boxes are concerned, if you’re looking for that fast food type of taste, then by all means, order away. Just know that you won’t be paying those fast food prices here.

As the saying goes, in the country of the blind, the one eyed man is king. So, when my eye was caught by the words dim sum on an airport information board listing eating options, my metaphorical tastebuds pricked up their ears! This restaurant is tucked right into a corner of Terminal 2 at San Francisco airport, right by the security gate — it’s hidden away, so walk as if you’re going through security and turn right at the last minute Its hidden location may explain why if was quiet when I visited. There’s a buffet option available but I went with the a la carte option of wonton noodle soup and siu mai dumplings The wontons and the siu mai were actually of decent quality — you could taste whole prawns rather than a generic paste. They were generous with the number of wontons though I suppose you’d expect a few, paying $ 10 for the dish For being a little oasis in the general nightmare of airport food, I think this merits 4 stars. Just be aware that this is pre-security, so you have to dine here before going in for your flight. trust — there’s nothing better inside!

We clearly win the award for being this fast food joint’s most patient, long-waiting customer. We arrived from the East Coast at 1AM and spent the night snoozing and reading in one of their booths waiting for them to open at 8AM. Needless to say, we were their first customers of the day and had freshly cooked noodles for breakfast. Yum. Not great, but not so bad…
