Fem Bar is an all women’s/ lesbian party and is the 1st Sunday of every month from 4pm-10pm at the Harlot bar. Check out the myspace page if you want to know details… like if there is a special theme(ie white party). I always have a good time at this party. I really enjoy the t-dance time parties… maybe that’s a sign of getting old… or that I’m a lush and I’ll take any excuse to start drinking early in the day. Speak of getting old… Fem Bar is a mix of all sorts of women, but I can always tell the time in the dark club by looking around at the clientele. The earlier it is, the older the ladies are… the later it gets to 10pm the younger the ladies are. At the halfway point of about 7 or 8pm you can look around and see a good split of young and old and the in between. Pro’s — Music and crowds are great! Con’s — The staff seem to be all straight, and some seem a little homophobic. GIVEN3STARSINSTEADOF4BECAUSEOFTHEBATHROOMPOLICIES: They have a man guarding the bathrooms so that women don’t use the men’s bathroom… can I remind you readers that this is an ALLWOMEN’S party??? What men need to use it? And why is there a gender police at the bathrooms of gay event. Awful rules… but unfortunately it doesn’t keep me from attending this party.

I’ve been to this place for 3 – 4 times and I love it. It’s held on every first Sunday of the month. I love the crowd and the drinks. The music is okay and it is quite crowded that made me and my friends sweating all over. However, I’ll still go there every first Sunday of the month.

Went last night for the first time. pretty cool scene, will probably go back next month. The Harlot is a great venue for this event. The only thing we’re going to do differently is drink BEFORE we get there because the mixed drinks are so watered down I think I left more hydrated when I left. Stick to shots and beer.

So I am no longer a Fem Bar virgin. All I can think now, is what was I thinking? I am no saint I should have given it up a long time ago. Although I have only been here once I’m loading up the U-Haul and moving in. Its starts at 3 and I got there early and it was very mellow. I was pleasantly surprised with the earlier crowd only because I always wondered what happened to lesbians after a certain age. I very rarely see«mature» women at most girl bars/nights so it was a nice change to the same olé same olé. Around 6 o’clock or so the younger crowd infiltrated the place and the party was in full effect and very crowded and very sweaty and very hot and very fun and very, very? Many different types of women from all walks of life, shaking their money makers and enjoying cocktails, made for a really great Sunday. My heart felt all sorts of soft while enjoying myself in a truly inclusive environment. Yes, I know we just met but Fem Bar I think you are the one.

The phrase«It’s that time of the month» now has a new meaning. I definitely look forward to the next 1st Sunday of the month. Loved so many things about this place. The venue, the people, the music – even the bathroom. Definitely check it out.

I’ve been twice and so far, I’ve had a great time. There is a good mix of women and the space is a good space to enjoy a Sunday afternoon. My only grip is I think the bartendars water down the drinks, I’ve had lots to drink there and NOTHING. Guess that’s kind of good for not having a hang over for Monday!

Updated 5÷5÷08: Just wanted to update this, since sometimes clubs die out after the first time. They had their 2nd nite last nite(skipped a month for dinah shore) and it was packed again. i got there and left earlier, but it was really packed. the ladies who run this are super nice. the music was more top 40 pop house old pop house. So it seems to be doing well, go check it out. first sun of the month. Original review: 3÷3÷08 It’s a brand new monthly party for ladies, over at harlot on minna st. Fem bar is a t dance(im amazed at how many people dont know it, but a t dance is a party that starts early and ends early — at tea time, not no tea involved), goes from 3−10pm the first sunday of the month. cover is $ 5 before 5 and $ 8 after. That’s a lot of hrs, so i guess the $ 8 is worth it, but i will never get there that early, so its not as economical for me… i went to opening nite. .got there at quarter of 8. it was PACKED. if you’ve been to harlot, you know its a nice venue, kool art work of different harlots. lol. it was not, as some women said, like she bar on the l word. the crowd was mixed… a lot of femme girls dressed kinda nice, like you would to go to harlot on a straight nite. but there’s no dress code, so there was also the other chunk of women dressed like any other lesbian club. women of a variety of ages, and labels all there. so if you’re not femme, you can still go. dj page hodgel started out, when i wasnt there, i guess she played old house and hip hop. dj nuxx was there when i was there, she played dancey almost house top 40, and old once was top 40, and hip hop. the music was better than i expected. the crowd thinned out and by 9, when i left, it was markedly deader. but still a lot of women there. this party was better than i expected it to be, and could turn out pretty good as the months go on. i approve of using nicer venues for the girl clubs — it might bring out some girls that usually just go to straight clubs, but will come because these venues are now places theyre familiar with. Good luck, fem bar people!
