this place is great. The food is excellent and the service is good. It’s nice to have a vietnamese restaurant in the neighborhood.

I love this place. Best vietnamese food I know about in the city. I stop in there sometimes a couple times per week for take out. I always order bbq pork over rice. It’s the #30. The meat is well cooked and lean. They area always nice and smiling as well and their prices are very reasonable.

Food = good. Gol Cuon shrimp rolls(steamed shrimp wrapped in rice paper with lettuce, bean sprouts rice noodles served peanut seafood sauce) = has perilla, so it’s a bit tangy. We skipped the peanut sauce, and they provided fish sauce instead. $ 6.00 Banh Xeo crêpe cake(thin rice flour crêpe with bean sprouts, shrimp served with lettuce and fish sauce) = ginormous, refreshing, and hit the spot! We were glad that we didn’t order the chicken salad, too. $ 7.90 Heo Xao Mang(pork sauteed with bamboo shoots, onion, lemongrass and hot spices) = good but we thought it needed more lemongrass. And it wasn’t that hot. lol $ 8.75 Ga Xao Rau(sizzling beef or pork or chicken simmered in rich gravy, tossed with fresh vegetables) chose chicken(all white meat) = good. Take-out. $ 8.75 Cha Gio imperial rolls(deep fried rolls stuffed with minced pork, carrot, fungus, taro roots & onion served with fish sauce) = crispy. Take-out. $ 6.00 They have an extensive vegetarian section and a small section of Thai dishes, too. Seating = plentiful. Indoor and outdoor. Prices = reasonable. Late lunch for two, plus take out for one came out to $ 42.00. Service = friendly, and somewhat attentive. They can get busy.

I love Evergreen Garden! For me, this is one of the most beautiful restaurants in all of San Francisco! Why? Because it is *so unique*! I remember the days when all the places in SF had their own character — when you were inside some place, you knew it was irreplaceable and its own thing. You knew you were in San Francisco because there were no businesses like the ones here. These days, all the yuppie restaurants seem the same to me, like interchangeable chain outfits that could be in Any Urban City, USA. But Evergreen is a throwback to more creative times in my opinion. It’s so memorable — just the shape of the building alone is unique, and you have the option of two different dining rooms or the lovely garden patio to choose from. When you walk in, you really feel like you are traveling, like maybe you are in Vietnam or something. It’s got a wonderful 1960’s — 1970’s feel to it actually. There are old tile floors, fish tanks, and, if you’re lucky enough to hit the right day, even old Vietnamese violin ballads playing. A real mom and pop feel that is all its own. I just love that. The service is also excellent and I have never ever had a bad meal here. Generous portions of delicious food at a very reasonable price(yes, you can have a great lunch for under $ 10.00). If you’re someone who misses the old-school places of yesteryear, you will love it here.

I love this place for their Phở. It’s super reasonable, and fast. I have not tried anything else but their phở and this review is exclusively for that item. I had it with egg noodle and I think it was less than $ 9.00 very satisfying, good sized serving, and efficient service.

This place was horrible and service sucked! My husband and I got phở, the broth tasted funny and watered down, noodles tasted soggy and the meat and seafood tasted old. NOTHING tasted fresh. If you want real & yummy phở GOTOTHETENDERLOIN!!!

Very homely Vietnamese restaurant that you would expect to find in the suburbs with how spacious and relaxed it is here. Their phở is top-notch, everything else is decent. Shrimp Spring Rolls: 3 stars Comes with thick dark brown peanut dipping sauce, I’ve had better shrimp though. Phở: 4.5 stars Broth is fantastic, noodles are good and beef balls were decent. Banh Xeo: 3 stars We got this very impressive-looking crêpe but it was a bit too greasy and got soggy easily, and the shrimp in it was not fresh. This dish came with the lettuce to wrap the crêpe in and it was yummy when you ate the whole thing together. Seafood Crispy Noodles: 3.5 stars Yummy.

A classic hole in the wall place with good food at good prices. I’m vegetarian and I talked with the workers long ago about their excellent yuba-like fake meat and they talked about how much work it was to make it. Its delicious.

I’ve always looked for some sort of Asian food around the area in which I work. I work in the Mission so I haven’t had much luck finding any Vietnamese food that isn’t filled with scoops and scoops of MSG or its an Americanized version of Vietnamese food. I believe it was Friday, when my coworker and I were last to go out to eat lunch and she suggested that we go to this place cause its about a 5 minute walk from where we work versus the 15 minute walk we take to eat Americanized Phở at Mau. So the ambiance of the place… plain and simple nothing too luxurious. The atmosphere had a very authentic feel almost as if we were going into a family house to eat grandma’s homemade phở(no offense intended). The workers seated us right away, and like all Phở places you must try every locations Number 1 on their menu, being their Speciality Phở. Like all Specialty Phở’s they come with obviously phở on the bottom with beef balls, flank, and all the basic meats that you would find at any other phở place. Well the only way to really identify how great the phở is, is not by what they put in as toppings to compliment the phở, but it’s highly rated by the soup base. The soup base of the phở was VERY flavorful, obviously a hint of MSG… I mean who doesn’t use MSG these days, but with that note the soup tasted very authentic. You see I scale my phở flavorful strictly by how«dirty» I think it is. Dirty not necessarily means that it can be lethal to your health, but to me dirty helps me identify how authentic the food is and how it can remind someone or place them in the setting of Vietnam where Phở is eaten like rice. The soup was delicious in my opinion, probably not the best i’ve ever had but definitely a great place to go when you don’t have a long lunch. Portion sizes were great, there wasn’t too much or too little, it kept me and my co worker energized for the rest of the day without knocking us out midday like all other carbs would do. So the 3 star rating strictly comes from the cleanliness of the restaurant. I know I know up in the review I was talking about the term«dirty» and its relation to authenticity, but the cleanliness I am talking about is strictly on utensils. My co worker and I had to switch in and out forks, spoons, and chopsticks if i remember correctly about 3 times to get a set of utensils that didn’t have left over food on it. I recommend all people that come here to take some time to wipe down your utensils before using them, cause based off my own personal experience I could have eaten who knows how many days old noodles that were stuck on the utensils. Overall, great small place on a cold day for lunch. Very affordable was about $ 10 a person walking out the door with great portion sizes. Flavor was very rich in the soup and noodles were cooked very well.

I discovered this place on Unilocal when my coworker and I wanted phở for lunch on a cold rainy day. It was extremely packed during lunch but seats free up quickly! This place had a very authentic feel. Nothing fancy, very ordinary. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue because I was craving for something a little spicy. The soup definitely hit the spot, even though the noodles were vermicelli noodles rather than the regular thick Bun Bo Hue noodles. Also ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee and mannnn… Was it strong! Definitely woke me up! Overall, this place is great considering the location! The workers are also very attentive and prices are reasonable! I’d definitely be back.

As a self proclaimed Vietnamese cuisine enthusiast, I can say that their imperial phở or Bön bo hue has one of the most flavorful soup bases I’ve ever had at a Vietnamese restaurant. The lemongrass was not overpowering and you can request a less spicy option. You also taste subtle sweetness from the red onion — umami anyone? This is the Vietnamese version. I really can’t praise the soup enough. I’d fly here from NY just for this dish. I told ya, I am obsessed. Super impressive and insanely cheap.

Hi Evergreen! I want to confess something. you have become. that place. You know. one of those places that I don’t particularly desire to go to. yet because of the lack of options, you have become one of my defaults. People may wonder why you are located where you are, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but ah those who work near here know there are a LOT of companies nearby housed in seemingly plain old buildings. So here I am with a few«go-to» places. If I can’t stand anymore mexican food or sandwiches, you are the place I get my asian fix. Not saying anything is wrong with that. Your food is pretty decent, some pretty good. Enough of that though, let’s get to the food. Here are my go-to meals. — Combination Claypot — Look. I don’t care who you are, or what you like. Unless your vegetarian, get this meal. You won’t regret it. Eat in though. It comes sizzling out of a stone bowl. no this isn’t your typical«claypot» you get at chinese restaurant. Looks stop asking questions and order it, it’s got chicken, shrimp, those delicious chinese sausages that I still don’t know or care what meat it really is, and bunch of veggies with sizzling rice. Mix it up with sirarcha, hoisen sauce(i also ask for basil) and eat it. man it’s so good. THE best thing here. Intrigued? That’s right you should be! — Imperial Chicken — I got this one day. because i just wanted to try something different. And it was boneless. And. it was really good. Good enough that I think I ate it 3 times that week. One of those meals that taste really good, but after eating it couple times you sort of not want it anymore because the flavors are a bit strong. Try it if you like chicken dishes. — Bun — what I get what I want to be a little bit more healthy. Get it with imperial roll too. I prefer chicken. again to be healthy. — Pad Thai — standard fare. pretty hefty dish. — Phở — standard fare. anyways, i’ll probably see you again soon… interpret my tone anyway you like…

My boyfriend and I eat here after climbing at Mission Cliffs probably once or twice a month. He always get phở; I always get vermicelli noodles. They are fast and the food is cheap and always tastes amazing. However, the real reason I am writing this review is because of their service and staff. Last night, I ordered some food to go and a minute later, realized that I didn’t have my wallet with me. When I told them that I had to bike home quickly, they shushed me and told me to just pay next time. Gestures like that build a sense of community, and for that reason alone, I will be a loyal customer. But let’s be real – I’m already a loyal customer :) Thank you so much, Evergreen!

Came in with a group for lunch and got a table right away. The old folks running the place did their best but forgot one of our group members order so she had to eat her food after we were all done with ours. I ordered the catfish soup that came in piping hot on a clay pot. It’s a little too sweet for a canh chua and the fish tasted old, too fishy. May be minor but I noticed that the pineapples are also canned. The rest of the gang had rice dishes and phở of course. Nothing to write home about.

THESITUATION Craving Vietnamese food but too sickly-lazy to go get it? THECOMPROMISE For ~$ 30, Evergreen Garden will speedily deliver: 1) Basic Shrimp Spring Rolls accompanied by questionable«peanut sauce,» 2) A Decent-but-not-Sunflower Vermicelli Bowl with Grilled Chicken & Shrimp and 3) A Five Spice Chicken Rice plate. (Actually, Five Spice Chicken Plastic Container is more accurate.) #GetsTheJobDone

I’ve been here three times now, and this place is totally fine. Middle of the road. Fairly fast, fairly inexpensive, always able to get a table. The good: get in, get seated, feed yo’self, get out. The bad: no frills, don’t expect the moon.
