I ate a toasted slice of the plain cheese pizza. Crunchy crust, stretchy cheese, fresh tomato sauce, correct crust: sauce ratio, not too oily, and generally tastes fresh. I definitely will come here again to this random pizza store along 22nd Street between Mission Street & Valencia Street. Well done.

I was excited to order from EFNY pizza cause I heard they had a bona fide vegan pizza. I live close to the Van Ness corridor, just below Geary(not on the Tenderloin side!) The EFNY on Polk said I was out of their delivery zone which surprised me. I called the EFNY in Haight, on Bush, AND in the Mission. I was out of all of their zones. Amazing since I live in a central part of the city. The last EFNY I called, said their delivery people had no car, so they had to walk. I said that was ridiculous. So no pizza that night. A few days later I went to Mission EFNY and ordered a vegan pizza to go, and then called a cab to pick me up. While I was waiting for the cab, and the pizza was getting cold, I saw the car with the EFNY logo on top. After all that, the pizza was okay. I don’t much like Daiya cheese and that’s what they use, so I can’t fault them for that. The sauce was too spicy for me, but the crust was nice. The pizza was okay, the«Fast, Free, Delivery» was non– existent. I wouldn’t order from here again. And if they avoid certain areas of the city, they should just say so instead of telling their customers to call another branch, and then another branch.

My go-to spot when I get the drunk munchies after a night out in the mission. It’s a small spot with just a few tables, and they sell pizza by the slice that they toast before handing to you. The potato and garlic one is delicious! The garlic leaves a STRONG smell and taste in your mouth though so beware if you’re on a date haha

Time: 1:19pm/58°F clear Purpose: In area for possible business negotiation deals. Set-up: A little bigger than shoe box size place. Inside sits fourteen with four being counter seater facing wall of frame pictures. Place is all about pizza and famous stars of past and present people. From wall to wall anywhere possible theres a star mounted. Rest of place soda fountain, utensil dispenser, and two tier pizza display counter rounds out the place. Music playing that of The Cure, Willie Dixon etc playing about 65−70% volume level. Can still manage a convo with friends just sit at table nearest to door way. Music doesn’t echoe from there. Staff: Punk rock lady about 40s with pink dye hair and a guy I assume pie maker. Just dealt with lady, as she was pretty funny. No bs’ing around just your average pizza place worker. Had no problems as she was helpful and efficient of her duties. After walking around looking at those famous people on wall. I went ahead order a slice. Cleanliness: Grade A, nothing I see would indicate a problem. A fork/knife dispenser to avoid any human contact. Crumbs are common in pizzeria a little here and there. Not gonna downgrade because of that. I would be a fool if I did. Eats/Drinks: Slice of the day $ 4.95 after taxes. This slice consist of artichoke hearts, feta cheese, tomato sauce, sun dried tomato, and basil. It may have a few more items on it, but thats all I can recall. Anyways, I like the crust here. There’s two kind of crust that I like. The one with light flour on edge, and other with buttery golden crust. At Escape their version is slightly crunchy with a little breading and covered with light flour. Best of all, it wasn’t flaccid. Center had a nice crunch. Well balanced slice with all things considered. Toppings were fresh really like feta cheese, sun dried tomato slivers, and artichoke hearts. I use a fork and pluck them right away. I guess what I’m trying to say is you can’t go wrong here for your pizza cravings. Pricey? Yes, but what can you do when tummy growls like tiger in a cage? Main Features: Miss Figgy, Baby Spinach Caprese, Buffalo Ranch, and All American. Products/Services: Pizza-slice/whole, salad, salad trays, wings, desserts, MYO pizza, GF available, non-dairy cheese, substitution charge as additional toppings, free delivery, $.10¢ bag to-go. Punch Lines: Seats are minimal, pleasing flavors, drool-worthy, easy night out, always buzzing, imaginable toppings, laid back, zippy service, can’t go wrong, casual and delicious, char crust pizza, kept its standards, satisfactory. Tradeoffs: Special of the day slice are sold as it, no substitution. You can add toppings, but at extra cost. Final Thoughts: EFNYP are located throughout SF in certain neighborhood. There’s one five blocks away from my place, but service is just downright never good for me. The 22nd street location, I like. Here, I get to sit down with a slice while trying to guest who’s who on the wall. Will return. Put on my memory cap be back for pizza as well as trying to figure out other famous stars. I’m halfway there. Stop at Dolly Parton, I think. Great way to exercise my brain and satisfy my tummy at the same time lol…

Good pizza, short wait, and they toast the pizza before giving it to you rather than only using a heat lamp which I appreciated. Price was decent but there wasn’t a lot of room to sit. Overall a good place to grab a slice of pizza.

Have had a few pies from EFNYP. Ho hum. But today I was passed by one of their delivery cars. The driver was flying, arm hanging from the car window, cigarette in hand. Was impressed by the authenticity. Seemed so NY. On the other hand, not real interested in a mushroom, garlic and nicotine pie.

I made a quick stop at Escape from New York at the end of a Saturday night, mostly for a Diet Coke and the use of a bathroom. Both soda and bathroom were life-savingly adequate. I gather that this place is part of a casual pizza chain, and it had the pleasant, bland, comfortable atmosphere to match. Service was quick and there was enough seating for us to grab a table for five. I ate some of someone else’s pepperoni pizza and it was not bad, greasy and flavorful with thick, tough little pepperonis. It was even better with some garlic powder, which was out on the table for ready deployment. Anyway, the pizza was fine and the soda and bathroom were necessary for my health. Nothing to go out of your way for, but well stocked with late-night amenities.

If you’re drunk or high, you’ll love this place and their mediocre pizza that’s slightly overpriced. If you’re on the sober side, you’ll likely be underwhelmed by the quality and flavors. We tried the pesto/potato pizza, the Hawaiian, and the mushroom, and neither of them offered anything worth mentioning other than mediocrity. I had high hopes for the Pesto Potato and the Hawaiian, but they simply didn’t measure up. The pineapple was bland, the Canadian bacon dry and flavorless. Better to look for a slice elsewhere.

Their pizzas are pretty much the same as chain pizza shops like Dominos. It’s just whatever. Getting them by the slice is horribly pricey, and definitely escape from new york because new york pizzas of this quality are much cheaper by the slice. Eating in is not the best experience, since the shop is tiny and feels dirty. Customer service is not great either. We got a takeout once and they forgot our sauce, after we repeatedly ask for them to include. There are way better options out there.

The pizza is phenomenal, and they deliver, but it’s a little outrageous how expensive it gets. We ordered one extra large pizza(some sort of meat and veggie combo) and it came out to $ 40 for delivery. Seemed a bit high to me, but it was super delicious.

Honestly, some of the best delivery pizza in the city. Always fresh and fast. If they deliver to you, give it a shot; its unlikely you’ll be disappointed.

This is my favorite little pizza restaurant. The pizza is delicious, fresh, and it is not overly greasy like most places. I can actually eat the crust off the pizza here! The only downside is that it is very small so there isn’t much space to dine-in if you have a big crowd. The décor of the restaurant is filled with really cool photographs of all sorts of people and great posters which gives it its own character. Escape from New York pizza is hands down my go-to pizza place in the city!

A bit of a bummer. All the pizza has already been made which you know when you get up to the counter. They do warm up the pizza but it does t help that much. The crust is good. They had some interesting pizza topping combos. The woman at the counter was really nice & I was thankful that she gave me 2 plates when i took my slice to go. I would give them another try. After giving them another try I would def recommend eating their pizza there. It is much more crispy & significantly better! I still would not give this place more than 3 stars but it’s a decent option for late night eating after you’ve left a bar on a week day & even the Mission dog venders have packed up.

This pizza place was a lifesaver on a an early Sunday morning. Starving and not wanting to drive around for food at 1am, we decided to order 2 large pies to feed our group of 5. — Ordering was a breeze and delivery was quick, we got our pizzas within 25mins. — The buttery crust is thin and slightly chewy. There’s a subtle sweetness to it, which I liked. — Good crust-to-toppings ratios for both of our pizzas. THEGREATESCAPE: Pepperoni, mushrooms and onions.
— Medium 14in = $ 22.20 — Large 18in = $ 27.70 — Extra large 20in = $ 30.45 **Additional toppings will cost you $ 1.75(med), $ 2.25(lg) and $ 2.50(x-lg). We added olives to our large pizza. YOUSAYPOTATO: Roasted sliced potatoes, whole roasted garlic cloves, topped with pesto sauce. — Medium 14in = $ 20.75 — Large 18in = $ 25.95 — Extra large 20in = $ 28.85 When my friend suggested this pie, I thought he was crazy. The thought of having potatoes on pizza sounded unappetizing to me. I freakin’ loved it! — The potatoes were sliced thin enough so that the taters were nice and crispy. — The roasted garlic cloves were so soft and sweet, delicious! — My only complaint was that there wasn’t a lot of the pesto, I wanted to taste more pesto in each bite. They also have gluten-free crusts avail. But it’s only avail in medium/14in crusts, and will cost you an additional $ 4. These hours are for the Mission location only: — In-store hours: Sun-Wed 11am-12am, Thurs-Sat 11am-2am. — Pick-up & Delivery: Sun-Wed 11am-11:45pm, Thurs-Sat 11am-2am. There’s at total of 5 locations in SF: — Mission — Soma — Haight — Polk — Downtown: Think this is the only place that has happy hour from 4pm-6pm. $ 2.50 per slice and draft beer is a steal! Thanks a bunch, Escape From NY! Best drunken decision ever, lol.

So this is my place when I want to stay home. They have a very big collection of items and top pings. The crust is good and they give you extra sauce(which I use to make my own pizzas) It’s delicious for delivery pizza.

Oh, Escape from New York. You have been a part of my Friday nights twice now, and both after a very fun night out. I applaud you, and thank you for wrapping up my late nights/early mornings so well. The pizza is very good. I particularly like the mushroom pizza. I also dig that they heat it up from you. Really sets it apart from heated by heat lamp pizza. For this, I thank you, EFNYP. The line can be long, but goes quickly. Sometimes you have to scour your fellow patrons for the parm or the chili flakes, but fear not, likely besotted customer: they are usually around. The good: big slices, big attitudes, good price. The bad: good luck getting into the bathroom.

My favorite used to be the potato, garlic and pesto pizza, until I met the Miss Figgy. That balsamic drizzle on goat cheese, bacon, arugula and figs is just a perfect combination. I thought the figs would be too sweet, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it rather well-balanced. I like to pick up their pizzas for group movie nights(same price as my own cooking but much faster and less work) but the slices on a drink-filled evening also hit the spot when the elusive sidewalk hot dog stand escapes you. Sometimes they’re delivered to my work, and based on that I won’t be delivering to my home: the flavors are still there, so I still eat it, but the texture of the crust gets a little doughy/rubbery being in the box so long. Otherwise, pretty solid for casual pizza.
