this place is one of those hole in the wall places you usually walk right by, in this case… stop in. The food is delicious, the portions are massive and the price is reasonable(like actually reasonable not San Francisco reasonable). We came in late night, the service and food hit the spot. Def a strong recommend

FELICIDADES!!!

I am from Yucatan. So I feel I have the right to judge. What an amazing dinner. Service was amazing. Food was just like being home. So so authentic. A must have if you are in town. Do not expect your traditional Mexican food, because Yucatan cuisine is so very unique. I could eat here every day. So happy to have found this gem.

This place is delicious! Affordable, fresh, and authentic. I used to eat here at least two to three times a week when I lived down the street. I was slightly obsessed. At first glance, their modest menu might seem like you don’t have a ton of choices but don’t let that get you down. Everything is fantastic! Also, don’t be fooled by the tiniest amount of salsa they give you. At first I was like, these folks are so cheap! My mistake! They know exactly what they’re doing. It’s pure habanero FIRE! You only need a few drops and you’re set. But you’ve been warned, it well set your mouth ablaze! Give this place a shot if you’re in the TL. FYI it’s cash only!

I have to say that this place is a gem. It might not look like a lot but the food is great. I had the pork plate for take out. The flavor a are unlike anything you’ve had before. It’s not Mexican, so don’t expect carne asada and guac. The pork was seasoned nicely. There were a few very fatty bits that I had to pull out, but that’s standard. The tortillas were handmade and really fresh. The black bean sauce is excellent, but I almost wish it were thicker. I really enjoyed the cabbage slaw that came with it. There were a few things on the men is like to try next and I’m sure they are all great. I highly recommend you head to the TL and check this place out instead of your standard taco shops. Prices are reasonable at $ 12 for a plate. $ 2.50 for individual tacos, empanadas and tamales.

El Rincon Yucateco offers mexican cuisine, yucatecan style. takes over a spot that sold pizza, chicken before. menus: mains, tamales, empandas, panucho, salbute, … eats: beef empanada(2.5) –beef or cheese, choose beef, premade and cooked when ordered? typical empanada but cheaperm as good as the $ 5 ones at farmers markets punucho(2.5) -«refried hand made tortillas with fresh tasty carnitas, black beans, chopped cabbage, red onions, avocado, pickled jalepeno peppers» –tasty, –comes with chopped garnish, red sauce(looks same as pupusa sauce). crumbs: –small eats worthy, not sure about mains –limited dining space, –tenderloin maybe iffy in the evenings. 3.5 stars for spicy uniquenes, good value…

I really couldn’t give you a coherent description of Yucatecan cuisine probably because I couldn’t find it on Wikipedia, but hey, I never said I was an expert. Oh sure, I’ve been to Poc-Chuc, Yucatasia, and both locations of Mi Lindo Yucatan(both sadly closed). I’ve even been to the Yucatan, but I honestly couldn’t describe it as anything more than Mexican with a Cuban-Caribbean twang. The twang comes from the predominant use of pork and chicken usually marinated in achiote, a sweet-spicy red sauce native to the Yucatan, or some kind of citrus for a tropical kick. Hey, that’s pretty good for a Yucatecan luddite. All I know is it’s Latin comfort food I genuinely like if it’s prepared by people who know how. I came upon this place only because it showed up on my Unilocal app, and it was a pretty easy ride on the 38 for me to get there. It’s actually catty-corner from Bourbon & Branch, so there may be some hipster spillover here but not the evening I was there. In fact, there was only one other customer there, a fellow Asian but with a pocket protector and a bigger smartphone than mine. Compensating I’m guessing. Judging from the menu, it definitely looks like they know their stuff here. I decided to try a specialty as a starter, the $ 2.50 Salbute, a handmade fried tortilla puff topped with pork, green leaf, marinated red onions and avocado(photo: ). It had me at ‘fried’ as it was like a tostada with more character and definitely more flavor. I could have had a couple more and called it a night. Since I just had the pork, I bypassed the Poc-Chuc for the $ 12 Pollo Asado, which was a whle chicken leg in achiote and again with the marinated red onions and avocado. This time it came with a side of rice, sliced tomatoes, sliced radishes and pureed black beans(photo: ). All the accessories tasted just fine, especially the fried tortillas(photo: ), but it was unfortunately hamstrung by how overcooked the chicken was. I was bummed because I thought I was safe with dark meat but alas it was left in the port too long. However, that won’t stop me from a return visit. I noticed there were several women in the kitchen busily preparing all the food(though for whom, I wasn’t sure). Plenty of other home-style dishes to try if I gird my loins tight enough through the ‘Loin. FOOD — 3 stars… stellar salbute but the poultry refused to fly AMBIANCE — 3 stars… typical Tenderloin spot short on ambiance SERVICE — 3.5 stars… nice enough TOTAL — 3 stars… could I tell you more about Yucatecan cuisine?

I ordered a weekend special soup and was not impressed. The place was very noisy because of the echoey interior, kitchen noise, and a loud TV. I may come back again, but I wouldn’t order a soup. The other dishes looked much better.

Wow. This place is truly amazing. No burritos here. This is a reasonable price place to sample true Mayan cuisine. I have never had anything I didn’t like. I dream of the food at night. Especially the salbute. Just try, doubt that you will be disappointed.

A good new restaurant in Tenderloin/TenderNob area. Yucateca cuisine for meat Lovers. My partner(African-American guy) ordered Sopa de Coditos with chicken and he loved it. For vegetarians like me, you have the options to request some of the appetizers or entrées without meat. I ordered Empanadas(quesadillas) without cheese and server with cabbage, onions, habanero sauce and lime. Be careful my people, Yucatecos use a lot habanero chilli. Ask for non spicy or little spicy if you can’t handle. The place is too small so I recommend order for to go. But for those leaving the bars around the area is a good option to eat some food before back to home!
