Super burrito, carne asada, with sour cream, spicy, and wet(extra sauce gravy on the side free). The best burrito you’ll ever eat!

I was the only patron in the store at 6:50 am on a Tuesday. The cook/server saw me but continued to keep her back to me for over 5 minutes. I think she woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I walked out. I don’t like being treated badly. Plenty of other places to eat in the area.

Really bad. Food: tasteless, flavorless. Not really good homemade Mexican food. The servers are also the cooks? It’s true. The décor ambiance are kitch cafeteria, without the kitch. Sorry. Nothing good to share here at all… oh yeah, low prices? Well you get what you pay for.

This place is a little bit of Mexican heaven. Rice, beans to perfection. Salsa was tasty, quick service with a decent sized eating area. I recommend it highly.

Come on in. CASHONLY. They do have an ATM machine by the door. Avoid the crowds by being first in line. The breakfast burrito is amazing, it reminds me of my mom’s home cooking. If you’re not big on spicy, tell them to go easy on the sauce. These folks are fast under pressure.

I have only ordered the breakfast burritos here but I’ve never had a problem. Every time I get them for the office people love them so I’m not sure why people are bashing the place. Being from LA I’m used to hole in the wall Mexican spots, those are usually the best. If you want a 5 star Mexican spot this isn’t the place but if you want fast Mexican food on the go, then come here.

I have been coming here for over a decade now and always always have the same thing, big breakfast burrito with hot sauce. This is the best I have had and the same ladies have been here as long as I have been coming. Doesn’t look like much but you will always see city workers, firemen, police and construction guys packing this place. Definitely worth any type of wait. Excellent and I hope it never goes away! Thanks El Faro!

I’m not sure why there are so many negative reviews, but this is a solid Mexican option for those looking for breakfast in SOMA. The breakfast burritos are HUGE and come with beans, cheese, eggs, bacon, ham, chorizo, salsa(mild or spicy — go for the spicy), and enchilada sauce. They are very flavorful, and are cheap compared to similar places in the area($ 4.45 for a small and $ 5.95 for a super). I highly recommend their breakfast burritos. As a side note, I don’t care for their lunch options. Their chicken tends to be soggy, and one of the sauces they use in the burritos has a weird flavor that clashes with the rest of the burrito.

I can see why the place was empty during lunch time. They charge extra for EVERYTHING. The super burrito does not come with lettuce or tomatoes an d if you want them its extra. They barely put any meat on my burrito. It’s the smallest super burrito I’ve seen in my life! The baby burrito in the Mission are twice the size. No flavor at all DONOTGOHEREEVER!!! Ewwwwwww

Oh man this place is awesome. I’ve been coming here weekly for a few years and have yet to get tired of it They have a nice selection of meats in the front, but they also hold some good stuff in the back for special requests. I’m not a big fan of their chicken, but the ‘al pastor’ is amazingly good. If you come here then make sure to get a spicy al pastor super burrito wet style and covered in salsa.

My God, this place sucks! The food tastes old and is microwaved right in front of you. Taco Bell is much more authentic and not microwaved.

Decent hole in the wall. The breakfast burrito was surprisingly good, I would come back for sure. The burrito is hot and the ingredients are well melded together(I guess some would call it soupy). I didn’t have major leakage in mine, but it was very tasty.

After hearing for years how delicious the breakfast burritos are, I finally had one this morning. NEVERAGAIN. First of all, other reviewers who’ve said that El Faro serves soupy ass burritos were right. I was warned so I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised when my burrito was soupy as hell. Like orange liquid leaking all over the foil, puddling on your desk, multiple napkins kinda soupy. No thanks. The egg portion is essentially an omelet type thing they throw in with the mix of ham, chorizo, and bacon, although I didn’t see any bacon in mine and only had maybe two bites of chorizo. The ham was gross so I picked out the little pink cubes. The refried beans are like molten lava so be careful when taking your first bite. Not worth the calories. It was also super salty! They have a nice spicy salsa but they charge for it, so eff that.

Staff is uninteresting and unfriendly and if you can’t make a baby burrito that won’t fall apart while I’m eating it… I could have had a better experience at Taco Bell!

The food was spicy which I liked. Some of the ingredients are plain, but it’s made up for in size and good chicken. Pros: Good prices compared to the rest of SF Chips and salsa are resonably priced Chicken is good Burritos are very large Cons: Cash Only

What’s with the bad reviews? Admittedly I’m not well versed on their entire menu offerings but it seems like a mom-and-pop type of establishment as it seems to not have a certain corporate identity attached to it. I was told about this spot by my boss on how they have the«best breakfast burritos». I love breakfast burritos so I was challenged to try this place out. Their breakfast burrito is OFF. THE. HOOK. It’s very tasty and is better when you get the salsa on the side so you can control how much is put in there because sometimes too much salsa can ruin a burrito, but the eggs, the beans, the chorizo and cheese was just too heavenly of a combination to pass up. The ladies behind the counter are very fast and very hard working and I have never been disappointed by a burrito they have made for me and I’ve been coming back almost once or twice a week now. The only real downside this place has going for it is the fact that it does feel unorganized where you have to stand in line to order your food then take your food to another line to pay where, get this, it’s cash only. Oi! As someone who doesn’t carry a lot of cash around with them, if at all, it would be wise to at least keep an emergency $ 10 bill handy just in case you’re feeling hungry and want a breakfast burrito. This isn’t directed at El Faro specifically but this is the year 2015 and there are still cash only establishments around? Weird. But anyways, the breakfast burrito is great. Maybe next time I’ll try their lunch menu or one of the«fan creations» they have posted on one of the glass walls. I want a burrito named after me, that sounds pretty cool, but yeah this place is very tasty despite it having an awkward set up initially.

The food = Meh! The CASHONLY and $ 1.00 for Chips = 2 thumbs down. This place is so stingy. I won’t be back. Try the one in Concord, CA … It’s Much, Much better!

Not sure why this place got such bad reviews… Came here on a Tuesday just before noon, wasn’t busy so there was virtually no wait at all. I got a super burrito with al pastor(meat, cheese, guac, salsa, cilantro, onions, beans), and a side of chips and salsa. Came out to less than $ 10! Absolutely delicious and the women working were super friendly. Definitely a go-to lunch spot for authentic taqueria style food. CASHONLY!

The great thing about this place is now we know where the worst Mexican food restaurant is. This joint is bad, really really bad. I’m blown away that it has such a good overall rating. The grilled chicken burrito didn’t make me sick but it was so boring I ended up throwing it out. If I could choose between going here and Taco Bell I’d go to Taco Bell every time.
