Yesterday I noticed not only are my fruit snacks missing… but so are all the magazines. This leads me to believe this place is likely going out of business.

Eastern Newsstand is just half a block from my office so I came here looking for Runners World. The place is basically lotto, mags and candy/snacks, but I was a little confused on how the magazines were organized. I was asssuming the running magazines would be in the general area where all the fitness/sports magazines would be at, but it seemed as they were arranged weird. Also the staff wasn’t very friendly. No «Hi» or «thank you»

I usually come to this location on the way back from grabbing food on this side of Market. I do like Russell Convenience store, but if I am walking by this place I will stop in here. Why? They have a good selection of magazines(like Russ) and other stuff believe me they do. However one of the ladies is quite nice, seriously. She is always helpful, nice with a smile, never rude and always saying hello. Even after I told her a crude joke about one of the magazine covers they had out. She laughed instead of getting offended and still looks me straight in the eye when I happen to dropped by. Good service for a sense of humor.

4-stars for stocking all of next week’s mags on Thursday(usually new mags are suppose to hit the newstand on Fridays)! This is the only place where I can find Entertainment Weekly(Walgreens, for some reason, doesn’t really stock this anymore!). Minu 1-star for putting the in demand mags in front of the counter. I guess they are trying to discourage people from reading w/o paying? Also no discount! :(

This place sucks! The staff is so rude that I refuse to shop here! Try Russells down the street on the corner of Mission and Beale. Russells staff is much more pleasant and the selection is far better.
