Great place for essentials, especially beer and wine. I popped by for some food to have on hand during my stay in SF(I’m in an Airbnb spot around the corner) and just grabbed a banana. The guy at the counter told me he’d sell it to me cheaper because it was small. It was still tasty! :) They don’t have much in the way of produce(hence the deducted star), but it’s a perfect spot for snack food, frozen meals(they have a selection of Amy’s that will satisfy), and of course alcohol. Nice guys, good shop, will stop by again while I’m here.

We prefer this corner store to others around 16th& Mission/Valencia area because the guys who operate it are super chill. They also stock seasonal Anchor.

Griminess. Old tile. Stocked coolers. Wheelchair accessibility. Remember when they ground down the old projects across the street to chunks of concrete and twisted rebar? I do. I very much do. E & M has withstood the twin tests of time and a strangely lively part of the Mission, a part that is very underrated, but please don’t tell anyone. Don’t take away our Clinton Park or our Brosnan Street or our Woodward Street, as seemingly useless and purposeless and lesslessness as it is. It’s very edumacational to walk north on Valencia Street from 16th Street. I know everyone else is walking south, but you should walk north. You’ll learn a lot.
