Bought one of those solar powered toys and it did not work!!! That’s why they wrap their ish up in plastic so u can’t tell it’s broken. It was overpriced garbage. Better off going to the stores in the touristy area of Chinatown where you can see if they are working.

On most weekends, when we come to Chinatown with our two grand children to shop for fresh vegetables and cheap fruits, the kids always make sure we stop by this tall seven-story high rise in the middle of Chinatown, uniquely named The Miriwa Shopping Center. Everybody in Chinatown knows that this is a landmark spot, a meeting point and gathering location for friends coming from different parts of the City. People would meet here before heading anywhere else. Actually, it is not that much of a shopping center as such, more likes of shops in a strip center in a remote small town. We see all kind of small shops, but our kids, not even reached teen age, will rush to this small shop on the corner and just go crazy picking and commenting about every item. Is this a candy store or something? No, it is the DREAMHOUSE. We followed them into this small shop and voila: small stuff animals, accessories, school bags, small stationery supply items, etc. No wonder they go wild and crazy. This year, rather than buying expensive dolls and toys, we gave them cash and to choose getting things to their liking. This shop is perfect. Little that my grand children know, among some of these inexpensive stuff toys that they chose, they actually picked school stationery items. Pencils, small writing pads, diary, and erasers that are useful, long lasting and not just playful stuff that kids will forget they ever own them. After they picked a basketful of stuff, they were going to pull money from their little purses and pay for them. And I said OK you guys, let grandpa pay this time. I think the kids really enjoy coming to Chinatown, and just for shopping here. And I don’t mind bringing them again, as there are so many items to choose from, all different, and most important, so downright low in price in the entire shop. This young lady, who I think may be the shop owner, was very helpful in explaining and showing the kids what each item was, and how to use some of the stationery supply items. She spoke like an elementary school teacher and in a tone that appeared conveying information to my two kids perfectly. OMG, is this a Nordstrom sales person in action? All kidding aside, I like this shop. I think even with the sale of low profit items she is going to be successful. Apart from the clientele of after school students, there are office workers who either work in this medical building, or just happen to be having lunch in Chinatown. And these adults may buy small gift items like what they have here. The items in this shop seemed idiosyncratic and not like gift shops along Grant Avenue. You won’t find metal name plates, key chains attached to Golden Gate Bridge and Burberry scarves. Next time when we are in Chinatown, I probably will take the kids to Dim Sum first. This way, with their stomach full, hopefully they would not be too rowdy while in this so called DREAMHOUSE. And this time, I will let them exercise a little money management: I will let them pay for the basketful of articles, be it stuff dolls or school stationery supplies. LOL, JK! I will pay for the items. Let them save the money for their future college education. Every little bit will help.

This has got to be one of the best gift shops in Chinatown. Not only does this place offer good varieties of up-to-date merchandise, but also offers them at a very attractive price comparing to most competitors elsewhere. The store clerk was very warm and friendly when it comes to customer service, on top of his industry and merchandise knowledge. If you are a thrifty person like me who prefers to buy cute gifts at huge discount, comparing to what you may pay at Japan Town, this is a perfect place to check up first. Strongly recommended for anyone who likes to buy cute gift at reasonable price.
