I needed a cheap pair of earbuds. The lady said they cost $ 10. The cheap ones we have are $ 5…I said isn’t this a dollar store? She said we don’t carry $ 1 ear buds… I walked out. I don’t need ear buds that bad.

Scam artist run these places. Make sure you get the correct change from the cashier. Tried to screw me out of $ 20. When I called them on it they played dumb. When you buy $ 5 worth of stuff give them $ 50 and get back $ 25 you should realize there is no $ 30 bill in existence. Regardless the items they sell here break after one use anyway. Just don’t bother.

Standing sign in front of store: «everything is $ 1.49& Up». almost accurate, some are 1.49, most are 1.99. inventory resembles dollar tree except no fresh/frozen items, balloons. informal security(2) inside entrance. nothing i really needed badly. if i need something whilst in this ‘hood, i know where to go…

If it’s not an official«Dollar Tree,» «99 Cent Only Store» or «Daiso Japan,» these ‘dollar’ stores really mean that there products sell ‘close to a dollar,’ rather than everything the same price $ 1 everything. Knowing that before coming here, it was still very confusing to see their banner say«$ 1.25″, their sidewalk sign saying „$ 1.35,“ their window saying „$ 1.50 most foods,“ and then I ended up buying a bunch of hairties that cost $ 1.75.» Yeah I felt ripped off and lied to. I assume a plastic bag full of cheapo hairties would qualify for the«$ 1.35» price, but apparently not. I’m still giving this place 2 stars because they have a pretty decent selection of items. And they have a cat. A fluffy, friendly, furry, orange cat that ran after me down each aisle and let me pet. I would almost come back here just for the cat.

Went there on my way to work to see if they had cheap bamboo skewers. Got stopped at the door by the security guard demanding I check my bag. Turned around and walked out. Why yes, I’m totally going to check my bag with $ 2500 of corporate-owned electronic gear in it at your front door. I’m totally going to take time out of my busy work day to rob you of cheap crap that costs $ 1. They let little old ladies walk in with giant oversized bags. Apparently tech professionals look like crooks to them.

Don’t know why they call this place Dollar King since everything is a Dollar Twenty-Five. I mean what the heck, $ 1.25 for the crap they sell? The store itself is a mess and the quality is better at actual dollar stores.

One of the better dollar stores in the city. It’s huge, and they often have stuff that the other dollar stores don’t have. So stock up on party supplies, kitchen gadgets, skool supplies, hardware, kids toys, and anti-fungal cream. Yeah, you know you have fungus. Stop denying it.

I didn’t quite have the same anger the other reviewer had, as I know that San Francisco isn’t the most card-friendly city in the US. I’m training myself to carry more cash. What I really like about this store is that I was able to buy a huge package of napkins, a large box of cotton swabs, spices, snacks, etc. for a very low price. What else would a dollar store be for? Safeway charges a lot more for products of equal quality. The service was friendly enough… I never expect a really warm welcome at dollar stores. I grabbed what I needed, enjoyed a lady talking to herself for five minutes about soup flavors and then paid for my items with cash. That was far better than my experience at Subway next door.

The merchant has a hand-written note on his cash register«ATM& Credit Fee .50.» I told the merchant that the .50 fee was illegal. He told me «if you are gonna use a credit or ATM card, I’m charging you.» I left my basket of merchandise and walked out.
