As an artist myself I’ve been roaming this city seeking refuge from the mundane hipster art scene… I’ve been tired of seeing art that has no soul. There’s really nothing to talk about when all you keep seeing is the same boring image with the same boring«I am so deep can’t you feel it» message. And then… I stumbled into Djiboogo Collective Studios. Pablo Picasso once said…“Give me a museum and I’ll fill it.“ When I walked into Djiboogo Studios I knew that they too embraced the same outlook on art as Picasso. Each member of this collective is so gifted and inspired that they each produce an immense about of art… And it’s not just quantity but quality… Each glass piece is saturated with color, line, curves and a strong striking structure. Each piece of pottery is well thought out with functionality and form that’s hard to find — finger markings and designs are purposeful and allow a connection to be made with the artist. And Each painting or print is a color splash of exhilarating inspiration with messages that are clearly guided by the wild world that we live in. I sat for 15 minutes debating and pulling apart one art piece with a friend and when I walked away I still felt pulled back to the painting to explore more of the ideas that were in each paint stroke. Today we find we are in a world were people mass produce in hopes to make more money or seek more fame. This group of artists don’t mass produce to seek anything but just the joy of working with their hands… Clearly, the more work they make the more they feel fulfilled and inspired. No other group of artists has been able to top their loyalty to the work they do, their positive energy and ability to connect with people through their works of art.

A little gem in the rough, one of those once in a lifetime places that reassures me sf is as good as all of us think it is. Where else could you talk ink slinging, clay flinging, paint brush wringing, broken glass tinkling, and even more various thing-ings? And i sleep here! Unknown for now, Djiboogo is so deep in the underground the members eat raw beets. I tell you now, a place to watch, if you can catch a glimpse.. ..
