This former industrial building was zoned in the late 1970s as an artist studio-residence. When a vacancy opens up, the current tenants review the work of the applicants and vote on who is admitted. A number of accomplished artists live and work there. Some artists show their work from their studios, by appointment. Others run workshops. Ronald Chase runs the SF Art & Film for Teenagers program from his studio. The three story building has a freight elevator, for use by tenants only. To enter, you must call a tenant and have them buzz you in.
