Don’t worry, friends. There is still ONE Del Taco in the bay area, unfortunately it’s in Cambell off San Tomas Expressway, about 50 miles south of SF. Plan to stop there on your next driving trip to LA, it’s just off 85 or 17. Unless it closed, too. But it’s been open since the 1980s(or earlier) so I assume it’s still there now. There is also several off I-80 on the way to and through Sacramento(then a bunch more in Reno) I think the nearest one to SF is in Suisun City, on the right(south) side of the freeway and it’s SUPER new and clean, it’s only been open a couple of years.

I am very saddened that Del Taco is no longer in the SF Financial District. I really miss their wonderful customer service and their delicious tacos, burritos and macho nachos

The City that Hates Chains has one fewer to despair over, and one more boarded-up window on Market Street. Want to fix this? It might take more than a Twitter tax break. Maybe a tax break on business in general(last I checked, you can’t eat a Tweet). Maybe a police force that does something besides write tickets at confusing intersections. Maybe stop looking for new sources of revenue and start looking for ways to keep the city relevant at all. I don’t know why anyone in their right mind would open a business in SF, the way things are.

A eulogy to my favorite downtown BART station eatery: Oh, yes, your registers only accepted gift cards with a lot of coaxing. And you wouldn’t always participate in various promotions. But you provided portable food whilst I walked in the wind. Newark has been promoted to boy. Watsonville can be the brainy girl. Campbell can fill in for Maggie.

The consistent attention to customer service is a pleasant surprise here. This staff has to put up with some crazy stuff but always seems to handle it in stride.

Had the grilled chicken burrito and a medium fries. The burrito was tasty and the chicken was good quality. However it was a little on the small side. The fries, however, were soggy and lacked flavour. If you’re going to eat here, skip out on the fries. At least it’s good value for the quality of the burrito?

I really gotta start this review off by saying what the hell with the smell? Everytime I go into this place I can”t believe how nasty it smells in here. That and teh floor is always sticky I actually dig the food, in a $ 4 lunch kind of way. Some days I am just not in the mood for yet another Subway log. Instead I roll up here for a cheap burrito and fries, or a churro. But man, so many times the smell nearly drove me to give up and go next door for a 7⁄11 nuker burrito.

Sometimes a $ 1.50 Soft chicken taco hits the spot. I was hungry after an afternoon in the city and need a quick bite before hopping on BART. The soft taco was obviously not authentic, but it was fast, tasty, and cheap. Just based on that taco I would say Del Taco is better than the competing fast food chains. While it was nothing fancy, it at least tasted like real food.

This place gets a solid 3 stars in my book. My wife and I came here for a late breakfast on our trip to SF. We had no idea what to expect, except it’s halfway decent reviews on Unilocal. Overall, the experience was OK. The service was very friendly. I must say that I was nothing but pleased with my breakfast quasadilla. Big quasadilla with eggs, cheese, and bacon? Yes — at a fraction of the cost at most other breakfast joints. My wife didn’t love her nachos. And my burrito was pretty average. Would stop by again, if nothing else than for a quick breakfast.

I cannot believe I just realized there was a Del Taco right in the city. Game changer right here. Chicken soft tacos ftw.

I stood in front of the register for almost 5 minutes without being acknowledged while staff was running around. No one had time to say ”be right with you”. Please hire cashiers that speak English and that have an idea of what customer service is. Cant believe they got rid of the shredded beef bean burritos. I ordered a chicken bean burrito. The chicken burrito I got was like a giant Taco Bell chicken soft taco. No beans. Maybe they hire people who dont speak English to make it seem more authentic?

How can this be the only Del Taco in SF??? I don’t care what anyone says, you highbrow muther ffff’s — this place is so bad, it’s good. I often crave two soft tacos and chili cheese fries. This location also has a Unilocal check-in offer, so that’s a huge plus. Do not mind the unsavory crowd who frequent this location. What can you expect for food so cheap? Just enjoy your admittedly, artery-clogging meal, take it for what it is, and gtfo. Junk food at its finest.

I had never eaten at a Del Taco before and was curious, so I agreed pretty quickly when my fiancé suggested it as a quick bite in between shopping. He was surprised I agreed so readily, which I understood later… Of course it’s fast food, so it’s not going to be high quality. I got the fish tacos, which were fine. A few random pieces of tomato, a bunch of shredded cabbage, and a piece of fried fish. You know, basic. Cute that it came with a lime. The whole place felt kind of run down to me, and don’t even get me started with my bathroom experience. OMG I was so sad I hadn’t just gone in the Macy’s Men’s Store that we were just in. First of all, you need a token, which they won’t give you at the register, they make you wait in the hallway by the bathrooms for someone to come out of the kitchen and let you in, so that was kind of annoying. Then it turns out the women’s bathroom is out of order, so we had to go in the men’s(there was another woman waiting behind me at that point) which was DISGUSTING. I don’t even want to know what that smell was, the soap thing was broken and hanging open, so I had to dip my hand into the bag of liquid soap, and I hardly even wanted to touch anything. So gross. I mean, if you need a fast food bathroom, try the Jack in the Box down the street, it’s definitely better. After leaving the bathroom I was just suspicious of the cleanliness of the whole place. Then my cup started leaking at the bottom. I won’t ever feel the need to go back there. Also, tacos and fries? Weird combo.

All I had was some hash brown sticks here, but I have to say that the owner and cashier for this store really left a good impression on me. She talked to absolutely everyone who walked in as if they’ve known each other for years. She is the most personable person I’ve ever met and she is the nicest person. Even if you’re a person who doesn’t like Del Taco’s food I’d say that if you go to try any Del Taco make it this one.

Very nice service and consistent quality of food at this location. The main downside is that it’s a little more grungy than the typical Del Taco, due to the SF street person clientele. You’ll see a weird mix of businessmen, blue collar repairmen and homeless people in here. That being said, they keep it quite clean and the manager/order takers are friendly, nice and efficient.

This trip to Del Taco was my first in the city, and quite a few steps below what I experience going to ones found in less crowded urban environments. The review is about the service speed, cleanliness, and taste Service speed: 2⁄5 stars — it took me 10 minutes to get my food after I ordered, and I only ordered two fish tacos and a chicken soft taco. Cleanliness: 2⁄5 stars– the management should think about sweeping up and clearing tables occasionally. There was food all over the floor and tabletops. Aside from that, the interior is kind of drab and has that«sterile» look to it that isn’t very appetizing Taste: 2⁄5 stars — the fish tacos were«meh». There was not enough taste to the fish or the taco overall. The chicken soft taco was good as usual Overall, unimpressed with this Del Taco

yum!!! i have been so missing out… i always seen this place but never cared to try it out. glad i did. price is a little much for fast food. Although the portions are bigger. the restaurant is pretty small & can get really stuffy fast.(with the fan on, above). service is up to speed. good customer service. i didn’t realize when checking in on Unilocal you can receive 10%, well this means i need to come back again :)

There aren’t too many Del Tacos in my area so this spot in SF is like a pilgrimage. When I used to work in the FiDi, I used to make a weekly trek over here for a pigout. Usually ordered my strange combination of Two Big Fat Tacos, a Steak and Egg Burrito, a Bacon Double Del, and Fries. Don’t worry, it was a long walk back to work to burn off all those calories. My coworkers and I also held an awesome impromptu taco eating contest here. Though the cashier and cooks weren’t exactly ready for it, so it was a bit of a shock to them when we ordered 30 tacos. And no, I did not participate. I give the chef mad props for cranking those tacos out quickly, along with the orders of everyone else who weren’t in the contest like me. This is probably the only fast food joint that I’ll eat in the city since there aren’t too many around. It’s cheap and very dependable when you need to take a lunch break or quick snack around Union Square or Yerba Buena Gardens.
