This place is the TITS! I used to walk by here on the way to work and got really excited when i saw the big ceramic pizza oven being installed. I FINALLY went here on a double date this past weekend and now I want to go back every day. Not only were the pizza’s awesome but the app’s were also yummy. Melon Salad with a perfect balance of sweet and salty. Farrotto, which i could have ate the whole thing myself, was rich with flavor and the yolk added that extra pow. We had 3 pizza’s but my favorite was the Butterball Potato with honey! A must buy!

The wait was over 30minutes to get this pizza but it was worth it! The crust was doughy but not under cooked and the edges were crispy. The cheese was delicious! We finished our two pizzas in about 3minutes! I would definitely love to check out the restaurant!

I’m picky about pizza. I don’t care how much it cost, because when it’s good. It’s GOOD. 1) The aesthetics of this food truck is on fleek! Whoa. The first time I saw it, I had to snap chat it and show all my friends what a cool place I’m eating at(or more like«around»). Plus, the guys in the truck waved at me while I took the video! 2) Taste was fabulous. Luckily I was at an event where they were catering and I lost my mind. They had three varieties for the event: margherita, bianca, and an asparagus one. My favorite has to be the bianca! WOW. I am lactose intolerant, but you know what, everyone’s gotta have those weak moments. You need to go!

Food: awesome. Had the app with squid. Best dish of the night actually. Had the pizza with sausage and … Veggie and honey? You don’t think it’s good but it’s really good. A tiny bit of sweetness really does it. Atmosphere: ok. The seating with swivel tiny round seats are not that comfy. But food was good and it wasn’t too packed together so I dug it. Damn it. Think I posted it to their old food truck.

Great, fresh, amazing food and pizza. Staff was RUDE. I spent $ 700 for a team dinner and was unbelievably disappointed by how I was treated. They are very concerned with ensuring they appear busy and full at all times, which must be why they asked me and my party to leave the second we put our forks down stating they had«the next party waiting». They did not apologize or ask, we were basically kicked out. I would avoid until there is a staff turnover… maybe try takeout?

Fancier pizza truck on wheels that stops by Mint Plaza on Thursdays. It’s $ 12-$ 13 for a perfectly sized personal pizza and $ 0.50 for the covered to go box. I decided to forgo my diet for a special team outing. Ordered, warm service and recognized my teammates as regulars by name. Pretty quick too, not a few minutes until my pizza was ready. My Italian coworker approved of this place but agreed that the pizza wasn’t up to par as the previous times they had it. He was also critical of mascarpone as a cheese topping on the special pizza and skeptical about the bacon and squash. I got the Margherita. Mmm doughey goodness and flavor though the texture was off. The crust never achieved that bubbly flakey light crispiness I sometimes dream of in Neapolitan pizza and my friends rave about as Del Popolo’s characteristic. Crust was limp and gummy even on the thick outer edges, like it was underdone. The bottom had a slightly burnt bitter char. Toppings tasted great but watery, I preferred the freshness and uncooked nature of the crushed tomato and basil. On the second time, I opted for the Bianca instead which was better than the first experience and more flavorful. The crust was crispier, less chewy but slightly burnt. It was light and had a naan like consistency. The cheese toppings and basil were subtle, mildly creamy but there wasn’t a lot of them and they sank towards the center. I’d definitely get the Bianca over the Margherita again. The quantity was just right. The pizza didn’t leave me in a carby food coma state like a heavy sandwich does or the competing Acai bowl truck that gives me the sugar rush jitters. Highlights are the quality ingredients and fresh out of the oven experience. Crust was a letdown, if it were more consistently cooked it’d be a 4 and perhaps it was an off day.

Rare in San Francisco to find a place that not only has perfect pizzas, amazing appetizers and a lovely, friendly, attentive staff. Add to this that the prices are not SF crazy but within reach. We enjoyed every single thing we ordered. You cannot go wrong here. It’s all good. Find four people to go and they will take a reservation so you won’t have to wait.

I’ve seen this pizza truck around San Francisco for years and never braved the long lines that always accompany it’s existence. That being said, Del Popolo was at the opening of SF Beer Week on Pier 35 and guess what? There was no line! Woo Hoo! Let’s be frank here. It’s an incredible feat that they were able to fit an oven, kitchen and 3 – 4 employees in this truck. Mind boggling actually. I love the simplicity of the menu, limited beer list and concentration on doing a few things well rather than a bunch of disjointed products. I opted for the standard margarita pizza, which was heavenly. The crust was exceptional. The red sauce was just like pizzas from Napoli, also exceptional. I suppose the moral of the story is, I’ll be waiting in the long line the next time I see Del Popolo firing their insane pizzas. A tip of the hat to you sir.

The best pizza in the Bay Area is actually from a truck. It is a shipping container fitted with a wood burning oven that cooks the crust hot enough to get a blistered, crispy consistency that is found usually only in the fanciest of pizza joints. Small personal size is enough for one. Find them at OTG, festivals like Outside Lands, or at selected curb sides. A perfect crust means a perfect pie, wait in line, you will not be sorry.

Great pizza! But totally weak pours for beer. The glasses hold, at most, 10 ounces, but you’re charged 8 – 10 bucks as if it were an upscale pint. And wine comes in a half-full tulip on a stem!

Glad to have this new snazzy restaurant in my ‘hood. Nice beer and wine selections. We had the margarita pizza and the dough was tasty… a tad less salty than I like. Very fresh. Love that they have ice cream from Mr & Mrs Miscellaneous… it was fantastic as always. Also had the chocolate pot du crème; and that was good too. The interior is very nice; complete transformation from the previous tenants… now pizza is the show! Music was a bit loud; but we’ll try it out again and see where it goes.

My pizza was burnt and tasteless such a shame cause I wanted to try this place for so long and was hoping it would be as great as the reviews but I was wrong it was such a waste of $ 12.50! :-(

I’m a TOTAL East Coast pizza snob. I’ve lived in San Francisco for almost 9 years, and this is the best pizza I’ve had in the city. Gorgeous truck, great service.

Some of the best crispy chewy pizza crust around. The toppings aren’t that interesting but I guess it’s better that way to not distract from the crust. $ 13 or so will get you a personal sized pizza that won’t be too filling.

YUMYUMYUM! I just had Del Popolo over the weekend at Outside Lands. The whole weekend I held off on eating pizza until I had it from here. Finally figured out where it was for the last day. The line was pretty long and we waited about 30 minutes before finally getting to devour our pizzas. My friend and I both ordered their Margherita pizza which was absolutely delicious. Although there was a wait, it was worth it and actually not that bad since there was music and chatting going on. Once I had my pizza in hand, I was happily dancing to music while munching on pizza. When I first heard that they were at OSL and it was the pizza to try, I was surprised I hadn’t heard of the restaurant before. Then when we finally found it, I realized they’re a food truck! A friggen awesome food truck at that.

What a food truck! The design and concept alone lure you into standing in their long line. The wood-fired oven inside the truck is really cool to see, but even better produces that bubbly, crisp crust adding depth of flavor and texture. Selection is limited, but you can’t go wrong with the Bianca. The freshness of the ricotta and mozzarella really shine on this simple pie. However for the Magherita, the description which states«crushed tomatoes» is pretty much what you get. Rather than a tomato sauce, simmered for hours with herbs and garlic, it tastes like the juice from freshly crushed tomatoes. For most people, they’ll –appreciate it. I prefer cooked tomatoes, so I wasn’t a fan. It also made the pizza a bit watery and the acidic flavor was overwhelming the basil and mozzarella.

Potrero Hill never ceases to amaze me with their dining options — I’m looking at you, Chez Maman and Papito. Del Popolo is no exception. I went there today for lunch with some work friends. Word to the wise: get there at noon or a little earlier. They move pies like nobody’s business, but if you get there any later than 12:20, chances are you’ll be waiting for 30 – 40 minutes if there’s more than 12 – 15 ppl in line. They take card(woo!) and they’re polite and efficient. Now on to the good stuff: I had the Bianca($ 13) and I added pepperoni($ 3). In just 10 minutes tops, I was enjoying the most delightful, perfectly charred thin crust wood fired pie. Piping hot with just right amount of ricotta — it was perfection. Honestly, it’s easily the best pie I’ve had in SF so far. You can buy a to-go box if you can’t finish it… but you’ll probably finish it. Tuesdays only — set your reminders now.

I had Del Popolo at their truck at OSL2014. The first thing that impressed me was the truck itself. Its not like a regular food truck… Del Popolo’s truck is huge, and very clean, modern and pretty! I shared a margherita pizza with my girlfriend which was totally good. I loved the fresh ingredients and how simple and well prepared it was. The pizza costs us about $ 10, which seemed a little too much for the size… but whatever… festival prices I guess lol. Despite the price, I would get the margherita pizza again, and perhaps try other variations. Thanks!

Del Popolo’s pizzas are very reasonably priced at $ 10-$ 12 each. I’ve tried margherita, bianca, and various specials and liked them all. The glass truck offers an anticipation-building view of the people inside tossing the dough, laying out the toppings, and firing up each pizza. Each pie, with its beautifully blistered crust and fresh ingredients, is delivered to you immediately in its piping hot glory. My coworkers and I would often wait in line patiently during the lunch hour whenever Del Popolo was near our office, crossing our fingers and hoping the pizzas would not sell out before we got to the front of the line. Knowing that Del Popolo will be at an event always makes me more excited.

3.5STARS Took advantage of my Friday night at Outside Lands and decided to finally try Del Popolo! Since pizzas are make to order on the truck, the line moved a little slow. But I didn’t mind since I was really excited to try their Margherita pizza! For Outside Lands, they were only serving the Margherita(crushed tomatoes, mozzarella, basil) at $ 12 each. They offered one option for extras. Pork salami for an additional $ 3. I stuck with the regular Margherita since I just wanted something simple. The pizza came out bubbly and hot! The crust was nice and chewy and had a great crisp to it! I also loved the mozzarella and basil! The one thing I didn’t care for was the tomato sauce. It was a little too sweet and acidic for me. My first bite was a little jarring due to the sauce. But I loved the crust, mozzarella & basil so much, I kept eating the pizza while trying to brush away the sauce. Yes, it got a little messy, but all those elements were that good! The truck itself is gorgeous! Glass windows on the side so you can see the pizza making action! It’s got a great rustic feel with the brown frame coloring while adding a dash of contemporary flair with the numerous glass windows. I would love to stop by this truck again so I can try some of the other pizzas they offer. Since I’ve read so many good things about their margherita, I may give that another shot too. Maybe it was the music festival, but hopefully the crushed tomatoes won’t disappoint the next time!

Woohoo! Apparently the best food truck pizza in America according to some wine and food magazine as told to me by my coworker. We headed out to get some pizza from Del Popolo’s wood oven food truck which happened to be near my office in the city. The line was rather long and it was a pretty windy day, so we were all having doubts about whether the wait would be worth it. Well, it definitely was! The pizza was incredibly good, and I’m still amazed that it came out of a food truck, albeit a highly modified one! The menu is rather«limited». I ordered the Margherita pizza with additional salami toppings(+$ 3) to go(+$ 0.50) since it was too windy to eat out. The crust was super thind and soft, it tasted more like a super fluffy and soft flat bread instead of the usual thick/sometimes crunch crust of American pizzas. The sides of the crust was burnt, just the way it is supposed to be. Ahhh, finger lickin good :) I’m not usually a big fan of pizzas, but I’m Definitely coming back for more!

April 13, 2014 Sunday — lunch 11:15AM 3 adult Atmosphere — 5 stars Food — 5 stars Service — 5 stars Background — I have been eyeing this truck for over a year. I do not even remember how I found out about the truck. We were heading to Walt Disney Museum and the bonus was truck is there today! But this ain’t your normal pizza truck, this is a Napoli style pizza truck. Atmosphere — Part of the Off the Grid event at the Presidio. We got there early and had lunch so the lines were not much at all. Some of the trucks had none. By the time we got done at the museum the lines were 20 to 30 people deep for all the trucks. Food Drinks — none, I got mine at the Off the Grid bar. Appetizer — none. My Main Course — We ordered two pizzas for the three of us. Bianca is free of a red sauce which is just mozzarella and ricotta cheese and basil and garlic. It was good, but the Margherita had me. It is classic and they nailed. The golden crust to the mozzarella on the crushed tomatoes had me. I could have finished off one of those pines on my own. Dessert — none. Service — The line might look long, okay it is, but they know how to work it. While you are in line they take your order so when you get to the cashier/server they have them for you. Really since they are only making two types of pizza they just need a ballpark idea. They cut your pizza in front while you are settling your bill. Future — I would love to hunt down this trunk again for a snack. Like I said in an early review there are so many choices in SF I still need to try.
