Cutting Corner

It took me a while to find my go-​to place in San Francisco where someone will cut my hair the way I want at a reasonable price and it’s not too hard to get there and park. Cutting Corner wins on all three counts, so I have been going to Fanny for about 6 years. She is a really nice person and good to talk to, but most of all she gives me the same perfect haircut every time.

I came here to get my hair layered because I used to have short hair and I grew it out down to my lower back. So all my hair is kind of one length. In other words, I haven’t seen a barber in a long time and had no commitment to any place. I walked in and there weren’t really any customers and I just got my hair cut by anyone who was available. Nicole cut my hair. I told her I just wanted layers and it can be a little shorter, not too shorter, keep the length. She began cutting my hair and I noticed she was layering but also snipping into my hair like she was thinning it?! I didn’t ask for thinning but I guess a little was okay. By the time it was half way there it was getting way too thin but couldn’t really stop her now. Am I wrong when I say that layering and thinning are different? When she was finished, she said its lighter, you have lots of hair on the ground. I just nodded. And paid. Looking at my hair after this gruesome process, there isn’t consistency, the top is short to my neck and it’s weird. Highly considering cutting my hair back to short.
So I give this place one star for at least not cutting my bangs when asked not to.

I was really scared to see that they closed shop, but thankfully they just moved a block away. Their new shop is bigger, nicer and really clean. Cutting Corner is perfect for walk ins. I’ve never made an appointment in advance and if anything, haven’t had to wait more than 20 minutes. This place is also great if you want a cheap haircut. My haircuts here usually ring up to $ 15.
I’ve been going to Fanny for over 5 years and I won’t let anyone else touch my hair. Seriously, I’ve put off getting a haircut for 4 months while in the east coast just so I could go back to her. She’s the best! Fanny always listens to exactly what I want and is really personable. It’s always fun talking to her while getting my haircut. I’ll definitely be coming back!
