seems like they switch owner, been closed for about two months, don’t know what happened. The sign said they were off for vacation for a month, but it seems like they switched to a new owner

Heard rumours this place shut down recently but not sure. It didnt used to taste this bad! Used to be a good place with decent food and decent prices. Now dishes range 8−9ish dollars for mediocre food and drinks. Ive gotten way better quality back in the days from this place. Maybe the main chef was off that day or he or she is gone for good. I came here with my husband one summer day in 2013 for lunch. Ordered a oxe tongue spaghetti with black peppered sauce and a baked pork cutlet rice in red sauce. 2 iced milk teas and it came with 2 bowls of Russian Borsch soup. Russian Borsch soup: now who the hell serves soup in a coffee cup in the first place?! This wasnt what bothered me but i thought it was funny. The soup was literally boiled heap of cabbage and carrots and thats it! No taste whatsoever. No tomato, no sourness, no added banana sauce(red one) or lemon juice like in a normal Borsch. OMG! Served stone cold. Even the pepper and salt i added couldnt save this one! Hands down shame! Milk tea: tea tasted like it was over steeped for 2 days or more. Terrible balance with the condensed milk too. Way too sweet till it was almost undrinkable. With the normal barista or waiter gone too, it went kinda downhill from there. Oxe tongue spaghetti in black peppered sauce: oxe tongue was soft and tender. I will give them credit for that. Black peppered sauce was good. Spaghetti texture was the way its supposed to be. This one was a pass in my book. Baked pork cutlet rice in red sauce: sauce was nice but there was too little. Pork cutlet was nice, tender with juice and crispy as expected. The rice! Terrible! Was this even baked and fried?! Cant even taste the wok fire in this. It was supposed to be fried then baked as normal! Doesnt even taste it was baked. The texture of the rice told me it was left in the fridge for +2 days then served straight to my dish! Stiff and dry and a tad cold. Damn! I knew i should have went to ABC in upper Sunset! What a shame…

Cutlet House has been my family’s go to spot for HK food since I was 9. And trust me, nothing has changed ! The food is still delicious as always ! They have a large selection of food; which goes from HK food to simply any canton dishes. For people who don’t live around this area, it might seem like a hole in the wall by the beach. But I do see that they have a lot of regular customers who helps them bring in more new customers. Overall, great food, great customer service and great location(because I live 2 minutes away!!) haha! 5 stars!

I came here cause a friend said that him and his girl like coming to this place. I asked a friend if he wanted to come with me to try this out and he agreed. The price was cheap and the service was attentive. The Baked pork chop over rice was good and I liked getting my drink for some extra change. They made my friend a «lemon coke» which was not on the menu for the extra change it cost to go with the meal. It was really nice of them to do that. It’s run by an Asian family and they seem really nice. I like to attend these sorts of establishments.

Pass. After the high of the Riptide, my friend and I decided we were hungry… skipped the pizza place(why?!) and were like: that place looks good! We were wrong. Bleh soup as a starter: Had a very Campbells, salt-heavy taste. We ordered veggie friend rice, the chicken and mushroom sauce(with white rice, apparently), and udon soup. The best thing was the udon soup. At least it was homemade stock. But even that was bland and just… My friend kept calling the supposed fresh mushroom and chicken dish«salisbury chicken» from the dark, heavy sauce and canned(could not have been fresh, or if not, they were very old) mushrooms covering the gristle-laden chicken. I ordered the pineapple crush and for $ 3.25… I got some canned pineapple chunks in a large plastic glass with sprite over it. In a city with fabulous food, it’s a mystery to me why people would go here. We were hungry before we got here, yet faced with our food… we barely made a dent. Save your money.

This review is based on my 1st visit. The place is nice and hiding on the corner of Taraval close to the beach. I wouldn’t comment much on the decoration since its like your average diner/HK Café. I went in on a Fri afternoon which was pretty quiet and I thought I get some classic HK Café Style rice plates. I got a prawn cutlet w/tomato sauce over rice. My expectation of the prawn cutlet was jumbo shrimps or even smaller shrimp size but fresh. LITTLE did I know… upon its arrival on my table came battered snail shrimps with white rice, watered veggies and the tomato orange sauce on the side. I call it snail shrimps cuz it just looked curled up shrimp trying make a circle. Believe me the«prawns» were skinny like a super model going on a «throw up» diet or something. Hence… it looked like those pre-battered prawns you get from Costco. «Yummmm» And the veggie was pretty bitter… I think all they did was thrown in carrots, cabbage, etc into a boiling pot without any seasoning, bleh…(Mom dont blame me for not eating my veggies). Sauce was just O… K… I would give this place one more try as a benefit of a doubt and get something non costco battered. If you’re in the mood for costco battered prawns w/bitter veggies I DAREYOU to try it. =P

Kind of not sure what to make of this place. The lighting through the windows is so obscure that for weeks I didn’t even know this place was a restaurant — yes, my observation skills are legendary. Anyway, we came in on a whim and got shrimp fried rice, chicken curry, and escargot(what? I know). Rice and snails were good, curry rose to the level of great. We were the only two in here, and it still took like 15 minutes to get our check and pay, though, so that part wasn’t super exciting. But the prices were right and the food came pretty quickly, so that was good.

So I came over for some mixed grill and it was fricking delicious. can’t decide what meat to order? No problem, get them all! Pork, chicken, ham, sausage with some gravy and rice(or noodles, your choice). Plus the iced milk tea was DE-wait for it… –licious, delicious! It’s only $ 0.50 more if you order an entrée too! Friendly peeps, good service, great food. My friends wouldn’t mind coming back here again!

To describe Cutlet House — small, family run place. I’ve seen this place here for years, but never actually ate here until a few months ago. They serve HK-style food. Chicken cutlets, Portuguese baked rice, black pepper steak, fried chicken wings — the regular stuff you’d find at an HK café. The food is reasonably priced. I think I spent less than $ 10 for my meal, and I left full and satisfied. My friends and I went in for dinner, and there was only one other table besides us. The TVs on the walls were showing Chinese drama, and the waiter was always attentive, since there were only two tables.

No good. I got the baked portuguese chicken over rice. It was this weird cream color, and tasted more like milk/cream than that distinctive portuguese flavor. Food was a tad salty. No repeat for me.

Came here on a Saturday around 12:30pm. Beat the rush of people that came in around.1pm? lol. The restaurant is pretty cozy and definitely doesn’t stand out. The service is pretty decent. Servers are very attentive to everything you need. I got myself the chicken cutlet with black pepper sauce? They gave me a huge amount of rice(which I appreciated since you can never have too much rice during lunch =D). The chicken cutlet pieces were a decent amount though they skimped on the veggies. But that’s okay. It came with some veggie soup so that made up for it. Haha. And! If you want to add a drink to your order, it’s only 50cents I believe.(: Decent prices, with most items under 10bucks or 9bucks. May come back, may not, depends. Worth trying though since I’ve read reviews about how much people like this place. Perhaps I’ll come back and try the baked pork chop since 2 out of the 7 people I was with, ordered it and were very satisfied. Hehe.

ehh. I remember watching Chinese dramas on the Chinese channel and seeing advertisements for this place & thinking to myself I need to try this place. So a couple years later, I finally get a chance to at the suggestion of Audrey T. It was a Monday night and we were the only customers there at that time of the day(6pm). My first impression of the place is that I’m pretty sure I remember the advertisements showing this place to be a bit more glamorous. Despite the fact that this place has probably seen better days, the services was decent. The waiter was pretty attentive to our every needs & was very courteous. They’re currently running a special, if you order any entrée you can add in a milk tea or coffee for an extra 50 cents. Food wise, I had the baked chicken with fried rice while Audrey T. had the baked seafood with fried rice. Personally, I only thought the baked chicken was mediocre. I still prefer the ones from D&A café more. However, the baked seafood wasn’t bad. My only complaint was that I felt the sauce wasn’t «saucy» enough to cover all my rice & i was left with some parts being a bit dry. I doubt I’d come back, unless I’m in the area and I’m craving baked dishes. I was not left overly impressed with this place enough for me to crave enough to give up going to D&A for the same dish.

Mediocre service… but pretty good food… I always get the chicken grill with mushroom sauce… can’t go wrong with that… grilled perfectly with just the right amount of meat to sauce to rice ratio… This is a cheaper option to Café Bakery!

Disgusting curry fish ball. It was seemingly powdery and its viscosity was questionable. The service sucks eggs. The waiter, instead of bringing another glass of water, mistakenly poured water into my friend’s partially drinken milk tea. But no, waiter man did not notice. He was too busy watching the Warriors game on the updated LCD television on the wall. Methinks not.
