Had a great haircut last night with Edward. He took his time to chat through the best way and length to «lob» my hair, gave me a great cut and even taught me how to style it. Couldn’t recommend him more.

I went to trim my hair last week and the girl chopped off over 6 inches. It looks terrible and completely uneven. The layers practically look like a bowl cut. I had to spend $ 100 on this terrible cut, had to go to another salon to fix it for another $ 100. What a waste and my hair is now so short and horrible. Never ever coming back here.

I absolute ADORE Tori(color) — have been going to her for years and always get compliments after I see her! She’s the type of colorist who can give you something super edgy and unique, or understated and natural. Whatever you want — she’s incredibly versatile. Also love that I can trust her to give suggestions since she has such a great sense of style herself. And on top of that — she’s super sweet which matters since color takes time! Highly recommend! Aside from color — Rory and Jess Cassidy are amazing for cuts! Re the space itself, it’s conveniently located near union square w a nice ambiance, very effortlessly cool. Love this place!

This place is great. It took me a while to find a good Salon in SF and this is a great one. Now our whole family goes here and we love it. Louise cuts mine and my sister’s hair and she is awesome! My husband goes to Tracy and she is great with his hair!

Jess Cabral is really something special. He was so thorough and meticulous and professional. I came in with long, layered, dried and damaged hair, I wanted to bring it to a single length for a more chic and polished look. When we sat down for the consult, I did a horrible job explaining what I wanted showed him really inconsistent photos of the«look» I was trying to get, but he truly stuck with me and kept asking clarifying questions and made sure we were on the same page before we got started. He described to me what the techniques he’d use to achieve my desired look which really helped me feel more confident about chopping 4 inches off. The haircut was fantastic, and I really appreciated how he checked his work just to make sure everything exactly like we’d discussed. Additionally, I’ve been thinking about coloring my hair(for the first time) for a while, and he took the time to explain to me various options I had and what those processes look like etc., which was so informative. You totally get what you pay for. 5 stars.

Emma James is a ROCKSTAR. I love love love the color magic she worked. I came in with brassy high light damage and wanting to go back to dark chocolate brown. She did an amazing job and delivered exactly what I wanted. Gave great hair care advice for upcoming desert trip. Hella sweet and funny, but best of all she knows hair color. Can’t wait for next appointment. You would think straight up chocolate brown would be easy peezy but it’s not. Emma is your girl for great color.

Great place! I have been searching for the right hairdresser/stylist ever since I moved to the Bay Area just over 5 years ago… and finally, I found her! Brittany is such a great stylist, I would recommend her to anyone! She is right on trend, super friendly and funny. Most importantly, she takes pride in her work and will never rush an appointment because of a hectic schedule. Love her and love this salon– my new hair home.

I’ve been getting my hair colored by Tori for nearly two years now: She’s taken me from super dark blue, light blue, silver-blue, and then a blonde-ish blue. I dyed my hair a dark brunette color, and after being disappointed with the results, she miraculously used her super-mad-scientist-coloring skills to make me platinum blonde! I’ve enjoyed everything she’s ever done with my hair! Highly recommended. She’s loads of fun and always makes me laugh! Thanks for always making my hair un-dull, Tori!

Ask for Emma! Best hairstylist in San Francisco — so talented and absolutely amazing! I was interested in trying the tape extensions for the first time yet nervous about how they might look. I scheduled a 15min consultation with her and she guided me through the whole process with such expertise. Emma blended two shades of hair to match perfectly and naturally. Emma takes pride in the her work and it shows! I’ve gone back a second time already and will continue do so. The before and after picture speaks for themselves:)

Michael knows color; he has incredible vision and ingenious artistry. I’ve been going to him for years and I love the highlights from my visit this past weekend. I’m in San Francisco a couple times a year and I make a point of seeing him when I’m there. I trust him completely with my hair.

Leslie is the reason I come to this salon. From the consultation to the shampoo(w an excellent mini neck massage) to the cut itself to product knowledge … My experience was bomb. Leslie’s skills and expertise matched with her endless creativity make her a winning stylist every time. Top that with her ability to have sparkling conversation while cutting. Check out the pics and be amazed!

If you want an amazing haircut from an amazingly talented, hilarious, and friendly stylist, then you must see DAVIDTOLLS at Cowboys and Angels! David is the only person I trust to cut my hair. I have crazy thick hair, and most stylists just try and layer it to death to take weight out of it, resulting in a very choppy and dated Jennifer Aniston cut circa 1995, but not David. He uses a great technique to thin out my hair, giving me subtle texture and flattering face framing layers. He is so meticulous with my bangs or «fringe» and my hair grows out extremely well. I couldn’t be happier with my haircut, and I am so thankful that I finally found a stylist that understands my hair, doesn’t cut my hair too short, listens to what I want, and offers useful and realistic suggestions as to what works best for my hair.

I love this place. Great ambience, extremely gifted and talented stylists and colorists! Of course fantastic service. They always make you feel at home! You always come out out of there with amazing hair! You have to understand i am extremely picky about my hair color and getting my very dark hair to a beautiful blond without damaging it, it is very challenging! Tori got it right away as soon as i showed her a picture of my hair that my colorist of 25 years used to do, she made the magic all over again! I am in heaven again, she is creative, and just amazing and out of this world. You want best hair color at affordable prices go to Tori and Cowboys & Angels! What else can i ask for?

This place is not as great as Unilocal advertises. I only came here because I saw a lot of great reviews here on Unilocal.I saw a Groupon deal one day and decided to give this place a try. I can’t remember my hair stylist’s name but I do remember a semi short choppy look she gave me. Ugh. I had asked for a trim on my bangs and layered hair. Instead, I left with so much choppiness all over. Maybe it was my hair stylists or the fact that it was a Groupon deal-I don’t know but I would not come back. The owner reached out to contact me and offered to cut my hair. However, he went back and forth with the messages and stopped responding to me. Skip this place and go to «Taylor /Monroe»(use to be called Oxenrose) instead. So much better! P. S. David(owner of this salon), please stop harassing me through Unilocal Messages/reviews because I posted a honest review about your salon.

I’m really disappointed I went to this place to get color my natural hair color is black and I was looking for silver color before we star the process I spent 5 minutes talking about all this with Michael(colorist) He was nice with me, everything was fine till They bleach my hair the first time for around 30⁄40 minutes, the bleach color wasn’t ready to try to use toner and color but They did it and after that the silver color never show on my hair. They bleach my hair one more time for another 40 minutes, when They rinse out my hair, scalp it was so sensitive and my head feels hot and my hair at that moment feels like spaghetti… All soft and no body, They know it my hair was damaged. They use the toner and color again at the end after 5 hours my hair was kind of yellow, black, silver. After that my scalp was sensitive, redness, itch and the worst thing was when I wash my hair for the first time. On my mind I was giving chance and time for this to be better… Part of Saturday, Sunday, Monday and TUESDAY after been with the same symptoms and losing hair every time I try to comb it. I call Cowboys and Angels. At that point I know that my hair and my scalp was damaged and I ask for Michael… The receptionist ask more questions and the 30 seconds she know who I was and I explain the problem to her. I was just trying to talk to Michael and get my color back in a dark color that way all the damaged that I have it will not show that badly I wait long time and finally some guy answer the phone He’s name is DAVID at the time He start to talk to me He was with attitude and He told me that all that I said to the other receptionist wasn’t true because he saw my hair that day after the service and my hair look fine… I told him what you want me to do if my scalp is itchy it and terribly sensitive and not even the color was good. He’s answer was«IFYOUDON’T LIKEYOUAREFREETOGOTOANOTHERPLACE» My point here is I never call asking for my money back or anything like that I ask for Michael because I work with him that day I was just looking for him to fix my hair and what I get was BAD attitude from the 2 receptionists who They know how to be nasty with costumes like me who spend money on this UNPROFESSIONALSALON. There you have some photos Where you can see how badly is my hair, now I have to wear hat and and every time I wash my hair is bad for me because that’s when I lost more hair.

Super happy with my cut and color from Star! I followed her from a previous salon and was very pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere and staff at Cowboys and Angels. Star is not only amazing at color but is equally as artistic with cut. I just could not be happier. I will also add that I wanted a very specific blonde and I have hair that has been processed numerous times. This is not always easy nor is it always advisable. Also blonde is not something that everyone does well. In addition Star was able to give me exactly the asymmetrical bob I was hoping for: edgy enough to not look like everyone else but also polished enough to wear for work! Love it!

I see all the great reviews and I’m sure overall this place is great but I had a not so good experience. While I knew when discussing my hair color to achieve desired results would be process, what I didn’t expect is the next day after washing my hair for my base roots to be orange. Literally orange — I’m 49 not 25. Another disappointment was voicemail I received after writing email stating I wasn’t going to pay for color, along with why, There was no apology it was that of «we understand that you don’t like your hair» it wasn’t about not liking my hair, it’s about not wanting to walk around with orange roots. I just think that when working with clients there should be more of discussion of interim coloring when trying to achieve ultimately what one might want. Especially if you have a job where you’re going to be giving speaking events — I mean let’s face it, that is already a bit intimidating no matter how experienced you are, but to be self-conscientious of looking awkward makes that more stressful. Hopefully, this was just a fluke thing, none the less I now have to seek color correction — I can appreciate the offer of «come in and we’ll see what we can do» however at this point it isn’t something I’m willing to entertain.

I decided to get my hair cut and colored on a whim and started to call around to all the best rated salons. To my dismay, every reputable chair in the city was booked. Then a colleague mentioned having gotten in quickly to see Sada at Cowboys & Angels. I called and managed to get an appointment the very next day. The Union Square salon is decidedly cool and Sada had super nice hair; so I had a feeling I’d be in good hands. She did some kind of ombré-type thing, working in lighter parts to my generally brown hair, and then toned it down after deciding the blonde was too blonde. Three months later, I haven’t touched my color and just last week when I went to my normal stylist, he insisted we not mess with the color since it looked so blended and natural. 3 months of solid color is really tops in my book, so if you’re looking for someone to give your locks a boost, go see Sada.

I’ve been going to Leslie for a bit over two years now and today was yet another great cut as we explored a new look. After walking out the door, everything felt different. Like a new person embracing not just new hair, but a new strut, new glance, and new flick of the neck when I turned side to side. I came home and immediately started playing with it, like a new toy or friend Im acquainting myself with. After a barrage of selfies and new flips and angles, it was decided; I love my hair. Facebook has been alerted & the friends lists concur. It’s a great cut. Thank you Leslie!

I come to SF every December. My new tradition is to pay Jess Cabral a visit at Cowboys and Angels. He knows my hair so well and makes it look and feel so good! I like how C&A is hidden and off the street. My first time here(in 2013), I walked in and made an appointment for an hour or two later(just enough time to catch a nap and come back for the best cut of my life). Fast forward exactly a year. I called day ahead and made a morning appointment. Both times I have been completely satisfied with my cut($ 95). Considering I only do this 1 – 2 times per year I’m ok with the price tag. They take good care of me and always give me a much needed hot cup of tea. They are friendly and use products that smell so good… oh and I walk out feeling like a movie star. My new hair style that gets compliments for days! Actually, my mom has complimented it several times this month… those that know her(tiger mom) would understand what an impressive gesture this is. So make sure to grab a few of Jess’ colorful«rorschach» business cards to hand out to your friends and family! My only word of advice is to remember to bring cash! I never have cash on me! So I’ve had to use their ATM both visits now to get cash to tip! Darn those ATM fees! Anyway, pick up the phone and make your reservation or walk in now. You won’t regret it! If you’re like me, then you’ll be back and clearing your calendar for your next visit! Is it December 2016 yet? Maybe I need to book a mid-year visit!
