Clare’s catered a lunch at the office this week and it was awesome! The service was great, he was able to work in our budget(we are a nonprofit so budget is key :)) and delivered on time. Loved that he sourced all the produce from local farmers markets. He brought 5 different kinds of sandwiches(turkey, roast beef, vegan, caprese, and a Mediterranean veggie wrap) and 5 salads(caesar and green) and it was all delicious! The one improvement I would suggest is that some of the sandwiches were a little soggy, but don’t really know how to avoid that in the future with large catering orders. Maybe putting them on a platter instead of individually wrapping? Overall, excellent service, quality and easy to work with. Will definitely order from here again!

We were shopping around for a catered lunch at our office for 150 people, and good thing we chose Clare’s! Ken was so patient and kind through the process, and the sandwiches came out delicious, fresh and made with local ingredients!(not to mention at a reasonable price). Definitely recommend.

This is an easy review. French dip. Your welcome. Try Ike’s once or twice, then wise up and come here for your sandwiches. Local tip: order your sandwich and have it served at the bar 500 Club next door and wash it down with one of their classic dive bar drink specials. Go to sandwich spot for sure.

I love the sandwiches here! Super fresh, bread is great, and the sandos are pretty large. I’ve ordered the veggie sandwich(very full of veggies and very filling) and the French dip. The meat in the French dip is bomb, the bread is crunchy, everything is perfect. It’s a great sando to grab to-go and lay in Dolores park with.

Clare’s is in my neighborhood so I finally decided to give it a try today. I got the«Light Guy» and it was not bad but instead of avocado as listed, it was a thin avocado spread and there was barely any on the sandwich. I also did not get any red peppers as listed on the sandwich but did not discover this until I got home. This may not be the best sandwich to get here as it seems other people rave about the hot sandwiches. Unfortunately, my sandwich also got delivered to the wrong patron and he touched it so I had to wait twice as long for my sandwich. So not the best first experience but I may go back one day and try a different sandwich.

Get the french dip, it’s SOGOOD. The meat was moist and juicy, the bread was light and crispy, and the dip was so flavorful. I split with my boyfriend and they gave us two dishes of dip without us even asking! 10⁄10

We split the French dip sandwich and they gave us separate dips without us asking! Sandwich was nice and moist too!

French dip is as actually as good as the hype. I inhaled it in about 5 minutes. Can’t wait to come back and try everything else.

Unsurprisingly so, the 500 Club Sandwich was good. I spent a lot of time looking at stuff hung on the walls. It is good.

Best French dip period, they melt the cheese into the bread, the beef is perfect, the au jus I drink after if that explains anything and the creamy horseradish is extraordinary! I went on a French dip obsession trying to find the best in the city, and I tried literally every French dip place, and this place won by a long shot! They also will bring it to you at the bar next door!

I am so so lucky this place is close to where I live. Seriously, its great. The sandwiches are all less than 10 dollars(most are 8) and Clare and the rest of the folks are really nice and genuine. I’ve been to Ike’s, Rhea’s, Lou’s and Salumeria many many times and they are all great, but I gotta say, I hit up Clare’s the most. The sandwiches are hefty but not heavy on the stomach, the ingredients are fresh, the specials(turkey and bacon biscuits anyone) are bomb; the Turkey Cran-Brie is possibly the best sandwich I’ve had, and I’ve had a ton in my time; the french dip is amazing(but eat it there) and the Vegey sandwiches are also really flavorful. I often do the half-sandwich of one of the meat heavy sandwiches like the Turkey Cran-Brie or French Dip combined with one of the Vegey sandwiches(or soup). Overall, I can’t recommend this place enough. Also, they have free tang.

honestly the best french dip I’ve had in ages. The bread was so fresh and crusty, the jus exactly what you expect. The beef was perfectly tender but not overdone. I loved it. Eating next door at 500 club made for a wonderful, nay ideal, lunchtime getaway. Between Sly and the Family Stone and Patsy Cline, that jukebox was made for me. My companions enjoyed their sandwiches and the entire experience immensely. None of the artisanal blahblah so commonly found in the Mission. Just delicious food and drinks served by genuinely nice people.

I’ve been going here for 3 years now and have always had a great experience! Sandwiches and salads are always on point. You can count on delicious and fresh produce, meats and cheeses always. They are known for their French Dip sandwich. I love their Cutting Board which consists of meats, cheese and different spreads served with fresh bread. If you love chicken Caesar salad, you won’t be disappointed. Customer service is awesome too. If you are in the neighborhood. This is a great place to go.

We were waiting for people to arrive at the bar next door. My friends ordered the $ 5 nachos and a sandwich. The sandwich looked awesome — 4 stars The nachos — 2 stars. Really lame amounts of everything, and no beans or anything, just cheese, broken chips, and jalapenos. Nice to have the relationship with the bar, but pass on the nachos.

Excellent sandwiches excellent service! Cooterman is a perfect bbq sandwich. It has just the right amount of bbq and doesn’t get all over the place like most bbq sandwiches. Pulled pork sandwich I was told was good, I will have to take my friends word for it because he didn’t offer any and it was eaten too fast for me to even ask. BLGBT is basically AMAZING. I was half way through my cooterman when I finally tried the BLGBT that my niece was eating. I’m actually still watching her eat hoping that she gets too full to finish it so that I can go ahead and steal it. She’s actually asking me «what?». This place is a must.

Cute sandwich shop in the Mission with some amazing hot sandwiches. We ordered the Cooterman(bbq chicken and coleslaw) and the Hot Italian. My favorite was the Hot Italian. The pesto was the magic touch to this Italian sandwich jam packed with meat and spice. Not for big groups, but easy enough to find a seat for two in the small space.

A solid sandwich is what I was after, and a solid sandwich is what was placed in my hot little hand. I needed sustenance before walking all over San Francisco, and I got it. I had some version of a turkey sandwich with a whole bunch of awesomeness thrown in there. The sammy was big, but not ridiculous. It came out quick, and with a pickle, to boot. Be still my heart. The good: om noms and awesome people watching from the street-facing counter. I counted the number of people wearing helmets versus those… not. The bad: not a lot of seating, but it’s not like there was a huge crowd. Doable if you want seating. I saw a lot of people come in and get sandwiches to go. Seemed to work just fine.

I think this used to be a caning shop that catered to a dying art form. Now it’s a decent sandwich place catering to locals as well as super annoying hipsters. I liked the French Dip a lot– kind of a dying art form itself. Theirs is simple– bread, swiss cheese(nice addition) a fair amount of beef, au jus, and horseradish sauce on the side. The pulled pork was ok-probably wouldn’t get that again. There’s free Tang, and a ‘broke boy’ $ 3 bologna sandwich — I liked the idea(no, I didnt try one) –it means you can bring your lame friends who never pony up for the bill here, because they probably have 3 wadded up dollars somewhere on their person… Lunch with drinks for 2 was about $ 20 which is fine for this neighborhood. There are a couple of tables on the sidewalk in front, one table inside, and bar seating along the walls. The hipsters were annoying and had no problem having loud inane conversations while sticking their skinny a$$es in my face while I was trying to enjoy my excellent French Dip. That was really the only drawback to this place. I’m getting old, and I’m not very patient anymore. Or maybe the problem is that manners are another dying art form. Sigh.

Perfect turkey sandwich. Lightly toasted bread w/light crunch was delightful to bite into. Lunch meat & salad items were fresh & crisp. Perfect size sandwich to eat on this hot day when appetites aren’t so big. Thank You Clare’s!
