Would be really nice if they updated their hours on Unilocal so people don’t waste their time. Don’t show up before 12:30 on weekdays.

I also found Chris Dugan’s Music Teaching Studio on craigslist. I’m delighted to recommend Chris, as my voice has greatly improved from taking his series of classes, and he is a great teacher who explains clearly and is very supportive. He is attentive. I also started my son on trumpet lessons, and Chris is great with kids as he has been teaching children for years. My son has been playing with the school band for a few years, but private lessons have given him more confidence and added to his joy of music.

Your search for a wedding band is over! Like most couples planning a wedding, we debated whether to use an iPod, hire a DJ or hire a band. Most people shy away from a band due to the higher cost, however Savoir Funk’s rates are very reasonable and was one of the best decisions we made when planning our wedding. Good live music completely changes the energy in the room. Chris is the band leader for Savoir Funk(lead singer), a band which plays every Friday at the Donatello Hotel in San Francisco. Savoir Funk really rocked the house at my wedding at Elliston Vineyards at the end of August 2012. The band is extremely talented and Joyce Grant is second to none. My fiancé and I found Savoir Funk through Cragislist, listened to some samplings on reverbnation and liked what we heard. There was some initial trepidation about whether Savoir Funk would work for our wedding, since we were planning the wedding from abroad and would not have a chance to listen to the band live before booking them. We also didn’t know what music genre would suit our guests’ musical tastes, since our guest demographic was multi-cultural and multi-generational. Chris put our minds at ease and assured us that they could play anything from motown classics to Adele. Chris was even able to work in a Dixieland portion for my cocktail hour. We got a ton of compliments on the band, who played Brown Eyed Girl, When I’m 64, The Way That I Am just to name a few. All our guests, even my 87 year old Chinese grandmother, danced! THANKYOUSAVOIRFUNK for making our wedding fantastic!

Chris has a great, easy going personal style and he is really passionate about music. His prices are really fair. Would definitely give him a try if you are looking for someone who is direct and knowledgeable.

Bad medicine… Avoid this guy. Completely unethical. DONOTGIVEHIMMONEYUP-FRONT for lessons in advance. He teaches near my home. I found him on Craig’s List and signed up for the«holiday special” – four lessons for $ 90 paid up-front. First lesson was okay(more on that below). We scheduled a second lesson. He didn’t show up.(«I am so sorry, dude. I don’t usually teach until the afternoon. I forgot to put it on my schedule…» etc.) He offered me an extra free lesson to make up for it. Okay, no problem. Now he owed me four lessons. We had another lesson. Then we scheduled a lesson after that. Again, he didn’t show up.(«I am so sorry, dude. I don’t usually teach until the afternoon. I forgot to put it on my schedule…» etc.) He realized that this – scheduling, not showing up, owing me ever more lessons – was going to go on indefinitely, so he said he’ll refund me $ 20, and would still owe me four lessons. By this point, we were well into the new year, and I didn’t get in touch with him for over a month.(We should have been done with the lessons by this point. I hadn’t planned for this soap opera to drag into February.) When I contacted him, he told me that my credit for the lessons was gone, vanished. That, btw, is illegal in California. Gift certs and credits do not expire. But what can you do? This is Chris’ world and we just live here by his good graces. I asked him about the $ 20 he said he’d pay me for the two no-shows. He said things are tight but to contact him in May about it. I marked my calendar and did so. He pushed me back again. I contacted him again, finally getting this delightful email: «I don’t owe you a f*cking thing… but like I said out of the goodness of my heart I’ll send you the f*ck money. Now grow up, stop being so cheap, stop whining, and leave me the f*ck alone.»(asterisks added by me) Of course, the goodness of his heart never came through. Have not seen a dime. This is a baaaad guy. Doesn’t show up. Doesn’t fulfill any commitments. Blames the student for scheduling a lesson with him when it turned out not to fit his usual schedule. As for the lesson, he’s a space cadet – knows his stuff, but will start playing his guitar for minutes at a time, oblivious to the fact that the student is paying for him time, went to the bathroom for five minutes in the middle of the lesson and didn’t extend the lesson at the end, etc. AVOIDAVOIDAVOID!

Chris teaches 50 min lessons for $ 40 or you can get a package deal of 4 classes for $ 110. Chris is very laid back and makes you feel comfortable. I really appreciated his honesty when it came to whether or not i wanted/needed more classes. He told me that a lesson would consist of 20 min of warmups and 30 min of singing songs along to his guitar, and that I maybe just be able to practice on my own, now that i was equipped with his warmup exercises. He is not just trying to take your money, basically. Thanks Chris!

I found Chris on Craigslist. He teaches guitar, vocals, flute, bass and trumpet. I am two months in and rapidly becoming the favorite part of my week. Chris has a very direct honest and refreshing approach, you can’t help but love his style. He loves his music and it shows. His engaging manner makes you see more of music than you thought you could and he has a very handy knack of disarming you and taking any intimidation out of your mind. A real talent. Very glad to have found him. Great rates. Don’t steal my class time! His number is(415) 706‑9949
