Tried this in November, sorry to hear that it’s no longer available at this location. We were skeptical of these tiny $ 9 sandwiches, but they were delicious and filling! We had the: –Hot Italian Sausage: artisan sausage with buffalo mozzarella, aioli, wild arugula and caper, olive and tomato bruschetta — so flavorful! –Fra’ mani Charcuterie: sopressata, cured ham prosciutto served with quince membrillo, gruyère cheese, peppercress and Italian chilies — I don’t know what half this stuff is, all I know is that it was yummy in my tummy. Even the house-made pickled veggies that came on the side were fantastic!

There’s an old TV show named«Car 54, Where Are You?», that I first saw on that re-runs channel TV Land. I wanted to use that line for a while, because of the similar situation to my review of Creperie St Germain(because they were not around when I showed up). And now that this cart CLOSED I get to use it. Ha-ha. Carte 415, where are you? But don’t worry the economy didn’t put them out of business, the owner shifted focus to his other business, dinner service at Saison. The reason for a 3-star rating is because the sandos were too expensive($ 9) for something that was made in advance. In comparison, Sentinel makes their sandos to order, which does make a difference in the final product.

I’m in LURVE. The mushroom sandwich with greens, broccolini, chevre and thyme is amazing! I love the little shallot crisps too, but i opted out of the aioli. The soup today was a tomato based broth with crispy fresh veggies in it. I was only planning on a sandwich but one taste of the soup and I was all in. Can’t wait to try more, but I’ll wait until next pay day since I can’t do $ 14 a day no matter how much I wish I could.:(

Shame on me. I really should pay attention to ingredients. Like the Fra’mani Charcuterie: «sopressata, cured ham and prosciutto …(ooh yummy!) etc. etc. etc. … and Italian Chilies.» Really Spicy Italian Chilies. Five Alarm Spicy Italian Chilies. To paraphrase my friend who tried a bite of it: This Should Come With a Warning Label Spicy Italian Chilies. Still, it was nice sandwich. Something new to try and in a good size to fill me up for the rest of the afternoon. I’m curious enough to go back and try something else on their menu. It’s a nice stroll from the office too.

The food cart battle rages on, this time with gourmet sandwiches. I love sandwiches with fun accoutrements like fig spread, arugula, and brie, but I’m less enthused with something that’s pre-made, pulled out of a cold refrigerator, smallish, and cost a dollar more than the fresh made, hot sandwich I might get at The Sentinel or Mixt Greens around the corner. I’m not sure why I’d go back given the other options, but I still like the effort.

Jack S. decided to get the crew together to go try San Francisco’s newest entrant into the $ 9+ sandwich market. This«invisible hand» is similar to the market forces that have sent designer jeans to their now $ 250+ cost at diesel. I love them. It makes SF that much cooler. Needless to say, I love a good sandwich. The more expensive the better it tastes right? No, sadly not in this case. The meat loaf sandwich was served cold as are all the sandwiches. It wasn’t very tastey, felt like a slab of meatloaf that was super cold. All the sandwiches are pre-fab’ed so at least getting the goods is pretty quick. I also ordered a side of hummus which was unspectacular and served with pita-like chips. Overall, not impressive. Will stick with Sentinel as my go to expensive sandwich.

For the«expensive FiDi sandwich» genre, a genre I haven’t come to terms with, it’s pretty good. I like it better than the Sentinel. Also, eye candy: the guys behind the register are routinely rosy cheek’d and with tousled hair.

Had lunch from Carte415 today and, while it is great food, it is far from reasonable or inexpensive… the prices are on par with or higher than a sit down restaurant so I am not sure what expenses Chef Joshua thinks he’s eliminating(see ). Definitely worth a visit, and I’d likely go back, but when you have a town of high-quality, sustainable food and food trucks like Kung Fu Tacos that have truly low prices he might want to rethink his pricing. You don’t want people to remember your prices over your food.

Ok to start I thought Carte415 was good and really I would give it 3.5 stars if I could but I really don’t think it deserved 4. The food was pretty tasty but not for $ 14 with a drink and a side item. i know they are pushing the whole organic thing here but still there are a lot of other places where I can get just as good of food for less than $ 10. would I go back? If someone else was buying for sure. I tried their pulled pork sandwhich which was good and served on some really tasty crunchy bread, their mint lemonade, and poahed pears for my side item.

The better half thought we should give it a go during our lunch break today. If there’s one thing I’m learning over and over it’s that great reviews on Unilocal do not a good eating option make. The highlight of the meal was locking my bike up out front and seeing my honey looking all cute through the glass walls of the atrium. I had the brisket sandwich, potato salad, tried her gazpacho, and the lemonade. brisket sandwich — that is one HARD ass wheat roll. Mastication difficulty 8.5 and overpowering with its earthy, oatey flavor. ugh. Brisket itself was moist but bland. Not sure if there was anything else on the sandwich, nothing easily identifiable visually. The horseradish cream was fresher than Arby’s horsey sauce but about the same heat level. potato salad — this was the worst. Literally chunks of peeled and boiled potato with a bit of parsley. Not even salt and pepper. Ate two chunks and tossed it. Tiny container of pickled stuff — this was fine, probably the best thing. Gazpacho — I hate Gazpacho so my opinion doesn’t count here. She said it was perfectly OK. Meyer’s Lemon Lemonade — lame, watery, with a few desultory mint leaves tossed in. My SF lunch benchmark for lemonade is the fresh stuff at the Vietnamese restaurants(Golden King or Parilla as an example). If those are a 7 – 8 out of 10 this was a 4. Also, the whole lunch was $ 14. If we say that terrible potato salad was $ 2 and the lemonade $ 3(ha!) that means the sandwich was $ 9. Not only was it hard to eat and bland but it was also pretty small. Since my first time sucked I’ll give them one more go to see if I caught them on an off day.

I just polished off my beef brisket sandwich and I’m ready to go back to try another one! Cute presentation. Tasty sauce on the side. Amicable serving vibe. I love that it’s in an area where there’s available seating!

Without question 5 stars! Upscale carte food. Perfect concept! Great display of the food. Amazing gazpacho with all the right garnish packed neetly for you. A beef brisket sandwich on the best crunchy rolls. All the packaging is perfect –two thumbs up! No dessert necessary because the eye candy was sweet enough. Cute staff and super friendly!

I was excited to hear that Carte415 finally opened. I had been waiting since May. I went today and was hoping to have the three cheese sandwich, because I love cheese, esp Cowgirl Creamery cheese. But to my disappointment they did not have it on the menu. Instead I settled for the mushroom sandwich which was a warm sandwich. For some reason I wasn’t expecting too much. Maybe it’s because I don’t normally order warm sandwiches. To my surprise it was really delicious! There was some sort of ricotta(I think) spread on it which went really well with the mushrooms. I was only going to eat half of my sandwich but ended up eating it all because it was so tasty. I will definitely return to Carte415 and am hoping to have the cheese sandwich. Btw, I asked one of the guys working the cart when it’ll be back and he said maybe next week and that he’d let the chef know that it had been requested.

I finally got the chance to try out Carte415 and it was fantastic. I had the Charcuterie sandwich, meyer lemonade, and cookies for dessert on a Thursday afternoon last week. The sandwich was meaty with a bit of sweet and spice — perfect! I loved the quince jam and chiles. Also, the pickles that came with it were sour and delicious. The lemonade was not too sweet(which I hate!) with a hint of mint. I only wish I could make lemonade this good. I’ll be back for more — especially the gazpacho made with Early Girl tomatoes!!! I recommend this latest food cart to hit SF. Can’t wait to see other menus!!!

I’ve gone to Carte 415 for the past couple weeks now, and in my estimation, it’d be hard not to be a fan after a careful survey of the menu items. The charcuterie sandwich with salumi from Boccalone, the three-cheese sandwich featuring Cowgirl Creamery cheeses, grilled rapini, and tomato confit, and the forest mushroom sandwich with fromage blanc and thyme are solid cold sandwich options.(The shrimp salad sandwich I was okay with.) The standouts for me, however, have been the incredibly refreshing gazpacho made from Early Girl tomatoes and the recently introduced hot menu items: a beef brisket sandwich with horseradish crème fraîche and arugula and a Berkshire pulled pork sandwich with spicy corn and Carolina barbecue sauce. The hot sandwiches are assembled on demand in front of you so by the time you bite in, the liquid of the braised meats is only beginning to moisten the freshly carved artisanal bread in which they are nestled. Nice. Normally I don’t order drinks with meals — I’m fine with water most of the time — but I can’t resist the fresh Meyer lemonade with mint. It’s hard to elaborate without seeming pedantic; it tastes exactly how you’d expect lemonade made from the mildly tart, mildly sweet Meyer lemon to taste like when mixed with whole mint leaves. I just ate a substantial lunch, but you know what sounds great to me right now? An Early Girl gazpacho and a Meyer lemonade from Carte 415. Yeah. Believe it, Buster Brown. I’ve got a case of the yums.

I work about two blocks away from this new, hyped food cart… and a ton of people in the office were freaking out about this new meals on wheels venture. Because so many of my cohorts were sold on their organic grub, I had to check it out for myself. Unfortunately, I was pretty underwhelmed. While my cheese sandwich wasn’t bad by any means(I think it’s called the Cowgirl, or something), it tasted like it’d been sitting out for hours before I actually purchased it. I wouldn’t doubt if it was, because when I ordered the sandwich, it wasn’t prepared fresh in front of me… it was just sitting in wax paper on an unrefrigerated counter behind the two guys manning the stand, and they handed it to me within 5 seconds of ordering. I suppose something can be said for the quick, in-and-out meal, but if I wanted a pre-prepared, pre-packaged sandwich, I’d just brown bag my own lunch at home and throw it in the communal ice box at work. It’s moderately priced, and unlike other food carts, they accept credit cards, so that’s nice. Would I go back? Perhaps — but I’m not in a huge rush.

We have definitely been waiting for Carte415 to open since getting the word back in May. We finally made it out today, and our first reaction was: Um, this isn’t a cart. Because it’s indoors at the lobby of the Atrium. But it still has wheels. Fine, it’s a cart. L and I ordered the last two of the cowgirl three cheese(gruyère, parmesan and ricotta salata) sandwich($ 8 each). Score. I felt special because they had to write«sold out» after I ordered. The others ordered gazpacho($ 5), the boccalone charcutier sandwich($ 8), and the spicy hummus($ 4). They downed it with a meyer lemonade and a rhubarb soda($ 3 each). So, I really liked my sandwich, but if it was just a teensie bit bigger, I’d be fully satisfied. The gazpacho was less than stellar, so skip that and get something else. Ditto for the hummus. We were debating whether or not this was bought from Costco and then re-packaged and re-sold.

Josh Skenes’(formerly of Chez TJ and the Michael Mina Group) Carte415 is finally here! Jessica and I had been anticipating their arrival ever since someone announced them back in May(ahem, thanks Thrillist). We were sorely disappointed to run over to 101 Second only to find no cart. Today, we happened to spot it while on our way to another lunch spot nearby. So they’re now parked inside the public atrium, as of the 5th. The menu was rather small, and the prices caused us to raise our brows. $ 8 for a cart sandwich? All I was thinking was, this place better be as good as The Sentinel. I asked whether the Boccalone salumi sandwich or the shrimp salad sandwich was better, and the salumi won. Plus, it’d been a while since I’d had Boccalone, and what better than to have the Ferry Building shop’s goods brought closer to me. With it already pre-made(fresh from the morning), we were in and out within minutes. I took my sandwich and side of pickled onions and radish back to the office. I unwrapped it and took a bite. The first thing I tasted was a sweet jam, which was a little strange, but as I kept eating, the spicy chili spread really complimented it. There was a nice amount of salumi, Gruyère and greens on the baguette — a well-made gourmet sandwich indeed, but not anything that blew me away. I’d rather go around the corner to The Sentinel. I should have gotten their Meyer lemonade, because now that I’m reading all the reviews, it sounds super refreshing. Next time! ps. They’re more like a 3.5 but I’m feeling generous today.

Wow. I just inhaled one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a while(I was also starving). Boccalone salumi with gruyère, some sort of whole grain mustard and chili jelly on a crunchy baguette. Fantastic! My dentist told me I need to stop eating baguettes because I clench my teeth in my sleep and need to «give them a break.» But you know what? F**k that! I’ll be back, real soon. Since everything is pre-made, Carte 415 makes for a super quick for a lunch run. The Meyer lemonade with mint was — dare I say — the most perfect lemonade I have ever imbibed. I’ve got my eye on the Cowgirl Creamery 3-cheese sandwich and the gazpacho… can’t wait to try everything :) Extra star ’cause the sandwich guy’s a babe.

This foodie gem is tucked away in a public atrium filled with office admins and corporate types(probably from the East Bay) eating unimaginative suburban leftovers and 1000+ calorie Chipotle burritos. This seasonal focused, farm fresh cart should be considered a public service to enhancing the neighborhood’s poor taste. No item appeared priced over $ 10 so one could be satisfied without breaching that arbitrary lunch budget boundary that many people are obsessed with. I don’t have such imaginary boundaries though, so I was quite stuffed after my meal with some food left to munch on later in the afternoon. Early Girl Gazpacho: Extremely fresh! I’m a huge fan of the early girl tomatoes because of their dry-farming technique that encourages deeper roots by not watering them, thus conserving water. The tomato base is very smooth and you’re given containers to add your own diced cucumbers, peppers, basil and croûtons. The croûtons taste like there’s some nice sharp cheese baked on top. Each spoonful is a little different as I swear I tasted hot pepper, subtle melon and a citrus zest at various times. Shrimp Salad Sandwich: A generous heap of whole shrimps resting on a thick tomato slice resting on a big lettuce leaf to prevent the bottom bun from getting soggy. The roll is both fluffy and slightly chewy. The creamy spicy sauce and herbs around the shrimp kicks the butt of any boring mayonnaise often found in these types of sandwiches. Included is a container of sweet pickled zucchini and red onions, adding a good vinegary contrast when placed on top. Meyer Lemonade: Sometimes I feel like San Francisco is obsessed with Meyer lemons. Its appearing in ceviche to dessert and anywhere in between that would normally use lemons or limes. It’s nice to see this lemon venturing into soft drink territory, making an extremely refreshing lemonade!
