My girlfriend and I enjoyed a bottle of their 2009AD Rouge last weekend during our trip to San Francisco. David was kind enough to send a bottle to our hotel prior to our arrival so it was waiting for us when we arrived. I have tasted wine from a wide price range in the past few years. Often the priciest wines are not the best and do not justify the price. This is NOT the case with Carlotta Cellars. What these proprietors have created is something truly magical! Their wines are very smooth and delicious. If you’re not too careful, you may find yourself trying to refill your glass from an empty bottle before you know it. To me, part of what makes this wine so enjoyable aside from the smooth taste, is the low acidity. I sometimes have to add an ice cube to combat this issue with most wines — not for Carlotta. I hope that the fine gentleman who run this superb winery decide to start entering their wines into competition to earn some well deserved accolades. Is that a CA State Fair Gold Medal I smell?
