Oh Cako! You with your bright and colorful cupcakes always taunting me while I wait for my Peet’s coffee just a few feet away. Why must you entice me every time. I would greatly appreciate it if you could be less inviting and maybe make your cheery helpful servers a little more mean. You could save me so much cupcake guilt. I walked away with half a dozen and no, it wasn’t to give to anybody.

Cupcakes are about $ 3 each, and pretty small at that. I got the strawberries and champagne cupcake. The cream topping wasn’t cream at all, it was butter which I did not like. The cake itself wasn’t anything special; it was moist but tasted bland. The customer service was conflicting; the female server helping me with my cupcake was very friendly and patient, but the male cashier wasn’t helpful or friendly at all, and to top it off, the cupcake wasn’t anything great so… for cupcakes, I wouldn’t recommend coming here. However, I can’t say the same for their other bakery goods such as the macaroons since I didn’t get those. This review is only based off the cupcakes and customer service.

There were several cupcakes and macaroons in the case. I decided to go with a macaroon for a couple of reasons. I could eat a tasty macaroon before I was inside the BART station. If I had ordered a cupcake it might take me longer to finish and I would hate to have to break any BART rules about not eating on the trains. The macaroon was very small and seemed over priced at $ 2.00. The cupcakes are $ 3.50 and that seems more reasonable.

Cako is located right by the BART/MUNI entrance to the Westfield. So you pass by the Cako stand to and from BART/MUNI. The display case had 13 varieties of cupcakes and 14 varieties of macaroons. But it was the cupcakes that I was here for and after checking out the offerings, I decided to try a Samoas. It was a vanilla cupcake with shredded coconut and caramel and chocolate. For $ 3.50, the cupcake was good but was it did not wow me in value and taste. I’ve had better cupcakes elsewhere. Service was friendly and helpful though.

Delicious salted caramel cupcake. I had to go back and get another one just to make sure. Yes, they are delicious. I might have to go back and make sure the other flavors are just as good. Sweet employees, too. I want a Cako kiosk in my house.

LIZ should definitely deserve a raise after this one. Extraordinary service, did everything within her power so I could receive my cupcakes. We tried swiping every single one of my cards and nine of them work. And no, I don’t have bad credits. I work at the mal full time and she tried her own card to see if the machine was broken, but her card worked after a few«bad swipes» messages. I apologized to her however she said don’t worry the cup cakes are on her. I’m sure returning and buying her lunch! Thank you so much Liz.

Today I finally decided to try Cako and it did not disappoint! I got the red velvet and tiramisu cupcakes and they were really good! I really like how their cupcakes icing isn’t too sweet! Although their pricing is pretty expensive it’s definitely worth a try! Also the customer service was really nice.

The macaroons here are gross. Artificial and too sweet. They basically tasted like Splenda covered chalk! Anyway. This was a cute little store located right at one of the entrances of the mall. Found this place on Unilocal.Theirs one that’s a cupcake and macaroon store and then right across from it is another cako selling ice cream. We decided to try a few macaroons since we had a long drive back home and these would be the easiest to bring in the car. Each macaron was a little pricey. Each was was $ 2! For a little tiny bite size thing. Anyway we decided to get four and see how they were, we got the salted caramel, the peach, strawberry and the Nutella. I don’t really have anything nice to say about these. They were all sickeningly sweet. We split each one in half because we couldn’t eat a whole one, that’s how’s powdery, sweet, and artificial the taste was. The macaroons here are seriously not very good at all, way too sweet and overpriced for the quality. It’s no wonder they are located inside a mall. I am open to trying the other cako for the ice cream but I would discourage anyone from trying their macaroons. The only reason they didn’t get one star is because the server was super sweet and helpful and the place was neat organized and cute looking. Food was blah.

This place has the best cupcake I have ever had. The Tiramisu was perfect for my palate. Seriously, if I’m on death row and picking my last meal, this particular cupcake would get serious consideration. You might not like it, but I can say without a doubt it’s the best cupcake I ever had. I I have had other flavors before and they’re good. I mean, it’s a frickin’ cupcake. If it was bad… it’d still be ‘good’. But the tiramisu stopped me in my tracks.

Actually stumbled across the stand on my way to Peet’s tea & coffee. I ran over to see the assortment of colorful treats and once my eyes landed on the strawberry cheesecake cupcake I knew I had to make an immediate purchase. Getting a chocolate Nutella macaron for my gf, we dug in and it was like baked goods heaven!

Really good cupcakes here. I generally despise cupcakes but these were winners. Cake itself was evenly moist and frosting was addictive. I had the samoa cupcake that reminded me of girl scout heaven. Lots of attractive flavors to choose from and if you package it to go, the clear contraption they put it in us super cute! No credit card minimum. But the service was whacky…

I’ve walked past this place several times and ignored it. I was craving something sweet one day and decided to give it a try. I purchased the samoas mini and strawberry cheesecake mini cupcake, which was a perfect choice since it allowed me cut back on the calories. The cupcakes were moist and full of flavor. Price could be a bit more reasonable, but hey, it’s in SF.

Honestly, cupcakes should not be so overwhelmingly sweet where you feel like it is clogging your arteries with one bite. This is the case with Cako cupcakes. Sure, if you are dying to have that huge sugar dose, go for it. I’m a bigger fan of delicately sweet cupcakes. Cako, calm down on the heavy hand with the sugar and frosting. I won’t be going back :(

Cako has delicious confections that will suit any picky palate I have tried several of their little jewels called cupcakes. So good and just enough to make you want another. Yummy and just the right size.

I quite liked the salty dog cupcake I got. It’s a chocolate cake(very moist!) with a butterscotch pudding, marscapone frosting, a caramel drizzle, and heath bar topping. I’m not generally a big fan of butterscotch, but it looked so appetizing when I was offered a free sample that I tried it. So good! I ended up buying one to go and enjoying a whole one at home later on. I liked how they packaged the cupcake in a clear bad with a plastic tray so the cupcake didn’t move around and get squashed. Very cute. The macaron, on the other hand, was disappointing. Boyfriend ordered an earl grey one and though they are very pretty, he said they weren’t worth $ 2.00. Plus they put it in the same bag as my cupcake so it kind of absorbed the flavors and was off putting. Service was friendly, but I have no idea how 3+ employees fit in that tiny kiosk.

Cupcake: Mushy. Frosting: Frosting can either make or break a cupcake. Sadly, it was not rich, thick, or tasty enough. Flavors: Variety. Unique flavors. Maple bacon(maple syrup with bacon bits), tiramisu, red velvet cheesecake, chocolate cheesecake, strawberry cheesecake, salted caramel, etc. Pricey: $ 3.50 per cupcake. Overpriced for the quality. Verdict: Likely won’t come back again.

It’s Interesting that cako has so many locations throughout San Francisco. Being a red velvet cupcake fiend, I usually find every one I eat delicious. There wasn’t a red velvet I found that I didn’t like, until today. Don’t get me wrong, this cupcake wasn’t terrible, but it markets itself as a competitor to stores like sprinkles and Kara’s, and this place doesn’t even come close. The cupcake tastes like something you could make from a box mix(this coming from me who can’t make anything, even if it is from a box), and the frosting was just average. Major pro is that this place has cute packaging for to go cupcakes. Presents and carries well!

My friend bought me a gift card to Cako for my birthday. So what did I do as soon as I got the gift card? Buy myself a cupcake. I stood in front of the display of cupcakes trying to decide what I wanted. I ended up choosing the strawberry cheesecake. And I loved it. The strawberry cake portion was very moist and had the slightly hint of strawberry. It wasn’t overwhelmingly sweet either. Near the bottom, there was a little bit of a cream cheese filling. And at the very bottom was a moist graham cracker crust. The cupcake was topped with cream cheese frosting. I felt that the entire cupcake was very delicious and each part complimented each other. I would definitely return to try some of their other cupcakes! If you download their cako app, I’m told you would get a free cupcake. And if you sign up for a Cako account, you get a point for every dollar you spent. If you have 30 points, you’ll get a free cupcake =)

Let me be clear, I have been a fan of Cako since 2009… So it somewhat pains me to do this. Okay. I have been a busy person lately and didn’t have time to make something for a dinner party. Decided to just pick up some dessert somewhere. Since I’ve always liked Cako, I thought to get some of their cupcakes. I saw that Cako has an online ordering system for delivery AND for store pick up. My friend offered to pick up for me since she gets off work before me. I placed my order, printed out my confirmation and handed it to her without a second thought. When we met up, she told me about the customer service fiasco. First, Cako said they didn’t have my order. When she showed them my confirmation, the staff told her that for in store pick-ups I am supposed to call. Excuse me, if I am supposed to telephone in my order then why do you offer in store pick-up as an option on your site? After this verbal exchange, they asked if the order had been paid for. *sigh* The confirmation says PAID. That’s what a confirmation is. SERIOUSLY what is so hard about that? Cako, what is going on? The cupcakes themselves… I ordered the maple bacon and the Samoas. Both were equally delicious. Loved the maple bacon ones so much because they give you beautiful smokey crunchy bits of bacon. Felt the Samoas could have used a bit more shredded coconut. I will never do another online order for in store pick up ever again! Please get it together.

If you like sweets, this is the place for you. The only reason why they got 4 stars from me is because I think they may be a little overpriced. Between my cousins and I, we tried all their macaroon flavors and 6 different cupcakes. I do not like anything too sweet, and if you’re anything like me then I recommend the following: macaroon: earl grey, rose, light peach, green tea and almond cupcake: peaches and cream I would come here again
