This is about the friendliest coffee spot in the city, and inside a great space as well. Lots of light and room to think, far away from the crowds of the ultra-hip. The barista is great, full of the energy one expects from a passionate Italian café owner. You could stand in line and fight for a seat in the over-crowded usual places so why bother? This is a much better option.

I actually LOVE Caffe Cova. They make great food and when the Italian Ladies that own it are there the service is 5+ Stars. It’s when they’re not there that the service goes waaaayyyy down. I ordered a Café Mocha this morning and there were chunks of chocolate powder floating around it. It would have been good otherwise. So if you do stop by, make sure the charming Ladies are there to help you. Otherwise you’ll be taking a chance!

I go to this spacious café fairly often. Service is great and I can always count on them for a good suggestion based on the weather outside. E.g. «it’s really cold out!» Response: «try this Nuit d’Ete tea it’s quite fruity.» The interior has a nice ambiance, it’s part of the lobby for an office building and has many tables and some tall chairs. This café with its nice selection of Pellegrinos and juices fits in with the building vibe and it’s never too crowded.

First, this is a horribly rude experience. The woman who helped me must really hate her job because she made me feel like I was inconveniencing her. Second, the large coffee I ordered wasn’t hot. It was at best lukewarm. This is a coffee shop so if anything the coffee should be hot. Finally, after making an effort to not come back I came for a banana. Unfortunately, when I approached, I was not greeted with a, «Hello» or «Good Morning. When I said, «Good morning, how are you today?» Her response was simply, «We’re not open yet.» Very curt. OK, I understand that you’re not open and have no intention of taking my money but since you have no door people are going to walk up so you need to be nice. Last year when this opened I was ecstatic there was going to be an Illy under my desk but this place is horrible. When it’s pouring rain, cold and dark and I have the flu I would rather walk across California to something decent. If your walking by, please feel free to come sit at the tables. These are not exclusively for the coffee shop.

The girl behind the counter took my entire order and made my drink while speaking loudly on her cellphone. I saw her pick up a fresh piece of fruit with her bare hands(no gloves and I did not see her wash her hands after she handled money) and proceed to drop it in the blender to make my smoothie. The smoothie was good though, but the customer service was really quite rude. Oh and she didnt even bother to put a lid on the smoothie like all the other servers do, instead she pointed behind me and told me to do it myself and quickly got back on her phone conversation.
