This is an adorable little neighborhood spot. Everyone seems to know each other, the staff are very friendly and, most importantly the coffee and food are spot on. Great find.

5 stars cause I am sold for the 20% discount treat here. 3 stars for the beagle .it’s sort of over toasted, it’s like cracker sense of beagle to me.(There is a awesome beagle supplier called Just beagles from NYC, NY, even its left of its good, I will give 5 star) 2 stars for Mocha, I can see powder and it literally taste nothing, so sad. 5 stars still cause I respect the fact that Café UB is such a high ethical and sustainable café. Also it’s in a nice and quiet neighborhood, perfect spot to work, study and hanging with friends.

Some creative menu snacks that are tasty. The almond milk latte I had was very mediocre though.

Coffee is pretty good! Breakfast sandwich nothing to write home about and the apple fritter was overly sweet but then again maybe I just don’t like apple fritters! Associates were very nice.

Their Bacon & Date scone is YYYUUUUMMM! Actually all their pastries are well above average including their honey coconut macaroon, and the lower fat options such as the carrot ginger and the banana blueberry muffins. Try to get their when they open up on the weekends and their scones are still warm from the oven! This place is kind of a hidden gem in the ‘stro…

I decided to stop by Café UB after a walk in Dolores Park. The pilar bagel is delicious! Their house brew coffee, on the other hand, tastes horrible and left an equally horrible aftertaste. It’s as if the coffee beans were burned while roasting. No amount of cream or sugar could salvage their coffee. The atmosphere is cute and there is plenty of seating indoors and on the outside patio. The staff is super friendly and quickly served my order. Overall experience was good.

I’m very sorry for the owner of this place. It’s a cute place, but man, the staff at this place needs some training. Our order got ready in almost half an hour and there was no line or anything during my visit. Such a waste of time.

My boyfriend and I stopped by here around 3PM on a Sunday for snacks before Dolores park and experienced the worst customer service. First off, the guy at the register was spaced out the entire time he took our order. Not so surprisingly he somehow forgot to pass our order along to the kitchen staff even though there was no line and maybe one couple ahead of us and one that came after us. Secondly, the girl in the kitchen(Ramona) took her sweet time making a oh so challenging turkey sandwich and granola cup. We waited half an hour for this order and in the end, I come to find out I didn’t even get the sandwich I ordered. On the plus side for this place, my boyfriend liked his granola cup, although you could make it yourself in much less time to be honest. To sum it up, if you want to go to a place that doesn’t listen to you and makes you wait an extremely unreasonable amount of time for your food, then you’ll love this place.

Al is one of those rare café owners who cares about his food, his service and the environment of his café. In this day and age of bland, common food offerings(read…easy to make, prep and store and usually tasteless), Al takes great care to offer unique, tasteful and well portioned menu items at reasonable prices. No basic turkey sandwiches here… but things like house cured salmon, soft Chicago Style Italian beef with your preference of peppers and au jus or simply plain and tasty, juicy pork sandwiches with wonderful pickled onions, and on and on. He was ahead of the curve with offering really nicely done cold-brew coffee as well… well before the craze. Simply put, he’s an asset to the neighborhood and UB is a refreshing place to enjoy lunch, brunch or just a coffee on the go. Plus, he’s really dog friendly… and Tux our pup loves to hang out in front as well.

I must have come on a bad day — not only was the service extremely slow, but not very friendly — simple grunts when asking about menu. But the real bummer was the coffee(almond latte and soy latte) was inedible. It tasted like lukewarm thick milk with splash of bitter coffee. I am generally very easy to please when it comes to coffee. Too bad because I wanted to support local shop.

How have I missed this little spot for so long? What a nice, quiet place to meet someone for a cup of joe and a chat. As long as you aren’t in a hurry, you will love it. Atmosphere is definitely on the relaxed pace flow.

I sat down across the street with my mom at Samovar to get some work done and enjoy an iced tea on a hot day. After sitting with our menus for about ten minutes, and deciding on a decadent $ 7 iced tea, the server came to take our orders, only to relay the message that they turn off wifi on weekends. why? He couldn’t tell me. Too bad! We trekked across the street to Café UB and spent a whopping $ 6 on beverages and cookies for the both of us, free wifi included. The owner was incredibly friendly. My only concern; the music was a little loud for a perfect work ambience, but I guess it’s okay since it was Florence & The Machine. :)

Love this beautiful café! It’s got plenty of seating, whether you’d like to choose the wooden tables inside, window-watching stools or the outdoor patio. I love the overall vibe in this coffee shop. It’s very quintessential café in SF. It wasn’t very crowded for a Sunday morning, which I liked. The wait was nonexistent. The wifi is «UBindangergirl.» The owners and service is impeccable. There’s a mix of people working on laptops as well as larger groups having lunch. The food looked good, but I only opted for a small coffee. There’s a 10% off coupon for checking. Unlike many other popular, bustling coffee shops, you can actually feel like a neighborhood native at Café UB. It’s more quaint and a well-kept secret! I almost don’t want to write a review so that I can keep it to myself! :X

Café UB is a decent place to get coffee, with above average pastries. In particular, the house-made fruit scone is great, but sells out about mid morning. The egg breakfast sandwiches are also good. And for coffee, in the morning you get a choice between a light, medium, and dark roast. My main gripe about this place is the service. I came here quite a lot over the course of three months and the majority of the time the staff seemed noticeably unhappy about having to exchange my money for coffee. Maybe it’s just a hipster barista thing…

Decent coffee, friendly staff and outdoor seating make this a nice place to stop for a cup of joe. Grovlax sandwich is ok, too much dill and cream cheese and not enough salmon leaves me less than satisfied. In a pinch I’d stop by again if I had to, but I wouldn’t go out of my way again to come here.

Great small place for coffee, breakfast and reading your book/news. Customer experience is through the roof, everyone is so nice. I just wanted an orange squeeze and the nice girl at the counter apologized because they don’t make them and referred me to a juice place down the block without hesitation. I’m a tourist here and the advice was helpful. So I decided instead to stay and buy one of the bottled OJ they actually sell.

What a quaint neighborhood gem. I ordered the Sausage Breakfast sandwich. The ciabatta bread was fresh and buttery and the eggs were savory. I also ordered 2 empanadas for lunch. They were perfectly flaky and delicious. Great atmosphere and love that they have seating out front.

Great coffee, awesome little patio, and average pastries. I love their cold brew, and the perfect patio to enjoy it on. The staff are always super friendly, and they have splenda and all the other sweetener options unlike some other snooty«coffee purists» type places that seem to be all over the bay. We always bring our dog on the patio! The pastries are about average. I tried an apple tart last week and it was so-so. If they had good pastries this place would be 5 stars. I haven’t tried the empanadas or sandwiches yet.

Great neighborhood café. Delicious and elegant coffee and espresso beverages. Cold brew looks tasty(but haven’t tried yet). Also great homemade eats. Had a mushroom breakfast empanada that I highly recommend. Reasonably priced. Nice folks brewing up the drinks behind the counter. Quiet and bright environment – can get some work done here, but it’s not overfilled with laptops.

The new ownership of this favorite neighborhood café and coffee shop is the best. Al and Nicole have made this place fantastic with a new menu of food and pastries. My favorite item is the Kyoto cold brew iced coffee that is brewed in this crazy machine and is very low in acid so it’s easy on the stomach, and has an amazing taste. They also have outlets and wifi for those who want to work for a bit. Go here!

Nice small coffee shop, they offer a nice cold brewed coffee that won’t disappoint. The empanadas are fairly nice, especially the chicken empanada. I also tried the Mediterranean chicken sandwich, I would pass on this one if I had to come back. Service is great and staff is friendly!

Almond Croissants here are so good. Sooooo gooood. They always run out really quickly too. Highly recommend them. Staff is great too. It’s a small café that’s a good place to meet up with a friend or two. Also, they serve Ritual Coffee if you’re a fan of that and don’t want to go all the way to their coffee shop for Ritual. Clean environment, good café, good staff.
