Charming café. But mostly simply delicious. Family had French toast, omelette, egg scramble. All super tasty. The ladies serving us we’re welcoming and helpful and patient with our kids. Great Unilocal find.

Café Golo is a very small breakfast joint at Lombard Street. You can easily miss this place if you don’t pay attention to the road. Parking may stink but this place knows how to serve its customers. I believe this is a family owned restaurant but overall it knows how to keep its customers happy. They make sure you leave the place very satisfied. Some of the dishes I would recommend are ham and cheese sandwich or French toast combo. Food is very fresh and it is not greasy at all. Plus, they give you a small pieces of blueberry scones as a snack! :D but check out this place. It’s worth every minute.

Good spot for a quick breakfast. Loved the free pastries and the potatoes were beyond measure!

Very impressed with the lightly seasoned potatoes– combo of brown and sweet potato. French toast was delicious!

Small cosy spot. Service was very good, very nice and welcoming. The food was great, had 2 kinds of omelettes and both were good. Unfortunately we couldn’t finish all our dishes since they were too big for us :)

I don’t understand what the glowing reviews are about. We ordered Latte, French toast, and Golo rancheros, all three of which were underwhelming. The blueberries on the French toast tasted like defrosted frozen blueberries, and the toast itself was mediocre. The Golo rancheros was overspiced and one of the eggs was overcooked. The avocado on the side was almost black in color. The latte also did not taste good. Will not repeat.

I had the Golo Ranchero and it was s little pile of heaven! The sauce was savory and as spicy as promised. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because the coffee was awful. It was too bad, because the food was excellent!

To-die-for pasties! The coffee, breakfast items & owner provided customer service makes this sweet little space quite special. Will definitely return when we’re in SF.

Great service but the food is just ok. Had the linguisa omelet and the small breakfast combo… Good was not bad but not anything special and incredibly over priced. A small piece of sausage that’s probably frozen, a small tomato and 2 pieces of toast for $ 9? Pass.

Perfect breakfast spot. I’m so glad I made the trek here when I was staying in the Mission for a few days. Food was delicious and fresh. Service was stellar. The owner(?) was bringing out pastry samples as we waited for our food. The potatoes were out of this world and I am not a potato person at all. They have a huge menu with loads of options. Wish I lived in SF so I could come here all the time :) Til next time!

This place is a hidden gem. Small, cozy and very friendly(especially PB). Florentine omelette is really delicious. Toast and sweet potatoes come as side. Not very cheap but definitely worth the price. French toast combo is quite good.(Just keep in mind that strawberries might be better than blueberries with that) A lot of delicious pastry selections as well, definitely a place to frequent.

Right next to our hotel! Read the reviews and had to go. My birthday breakfast and for the first time in San Fran felt like we were home, such a great establishment food cooked from the heart served with a smile and good conversation. Prices are right in the city portions are good, and it’s yummy! I would come back again and again when we come back into town. You might even get a sample of the owners pastry, if your lucky ;))

Why are people saying that this restaurant is «CLOSED»? I just ate there for breakfast this morning. They may have been closed temporarily during December, but were open for business today. Once again, I had another great meal there, too. Their take on Huevos Rancheros is excellent and made with a salsa verde in place of the typical salsa(roja) ranchero. I also highly recommend getting a side dish of their Country Potatoes, which are made with both standard(white or red) potatoes and sweet potatoes.

Brunch is my favorite meal. I was STARVING and this was the closest place. Wait was about 10 minutes at around 11 on a Saturday. Inside is really small and cramped. Service was great. They were very friendly and attentive. Everything is priced a little high. I had the Golo Omelet $ 12.50. It was a really basic omelet with no meat for the high price. Taste wasn’t mindblowing. It was just ok. Also portion size is smaller than other places. This place wouldn’t be my first choice for brunch…

A classic hole in a wall with expensive dollar amounts attached to each dish. I love breakfast food and to be frank I was less than satisfied by my Artichoke scramble. The potato itself was actually really good but the scramble not only looked unappetizing but it was also a bit too sour… possibly because of the artichoke. Regardless I can probably get a more delicious meal for the same price somewhere in LA.

We were up in San Fran this weekend to visit our son since he attends USF. He suggested breakfast at this small, hole in the wall joint. But don’t let looks deceive you because Café Golo is your go-to place for delicious French toast and simple eggs, bacon, & toast. Even their steak and egg scrambles are delicious! I wouldn’t say it’s an ideal spot for big groups, but if you and a friend would like a close to home cooked breakfast, head on over. Definitely will be back on our next visit!

Don’t let the seemingly gruff one-man show running this place fool you — he’s not only a helluva cook, but a pretty cool guy with interesting stories and a real passion for local food that shines through in each of his dishes. While you’re waiting for your food, you’ll be treated to a delicious complimentary sampling of fresh-baked goods that are so tasty you’ll be tempted to abandon your order and hit the pastry case. The coffee is strong, hot, and fresh, and is kept topped off regularly. We tried the meat lovers omelette and the GoLo special(a 2-egg breakfast). The omelette was huge and generously stuffed with meat. The potato hash was the real superstar of the dish though. With regular and sweet potatoes cubed into small bites and fantastically seasoned, each bite was crispy and flavorful. The 2-egg breakfast came with a generous portion of bacon, toast, and fruit or potatoes. I went for the fruit cup, and was glad I did! This fruit cup was outstanding! Small cubes evenly cut(call me OCD but I love that!), and not just boring grapes and apples but a huge variety of super fresh local fruit — kiwi, peaches, pears, strawberries, bananas, etc. probably the best side of fruit I’ve ever had in a restaurant! I wish I could give 4.5 stars because this place is really close to ideal. The only thing I don’t love is that tables are really small and packed in there, so you are always kinda bumping into stuff. In the interest of full disclosure, you should know that there are some ‘rules’ here that may offend some(see pics) but hey, doing business in SF is not cheap and they gotta do what they gotta do to stay in business. We will be back time and time again!

Great place for breakfast: we had the spinach scrambled eggs with sausages and onions plus bread and fruits. We ate the pancake combo with strawberries as well. Everything was delicious: all ingredients were one perfect combination!!! The customer service was great: the woman explained everything to us, she was friendly and polite. We will come back for sure! :)

I have a few friends who enjoy researching Unilocal and finding new hole in the wall places. A couple of friends ran the San Francisco Half Marathon and decided to come here afterwards for brunch. We wanted to get a couple of things together. We ordered: –Taters and chicken: I wanted to try this because it sounded new and interesting. It was basically chicken, potatoes(both regular potatoes and sweet potatoes), and black beans in hash form with pesto on top. It was an interesting dish, but not something I would probably regularly eat, or really reorder. –Golo omelet: omelet with pepper jack, onion, peppers and tomatoes. It was a regular omelet. Came with the potatoes — regular and sweet potatoes. I’m loving the sweet potato portions –Fruit waffle with strawberries: Waffle was good, but I was expecting a LOT more strawberries. They were laid out so that almost each piece of waffle you got would have a slice of strawberry and there was plenty; it just didn’t look that way. Brunch was delicious and I had a great time hanging out with my friends. Overall, the place was a small family owned place which I love! Protip: go try the food and enjoy the hospitality from the family.

I really wanted to love this place… Local spot, fresh breads and great service. But that can just go so far. The food was ok. I ordered the spinach griddle, 15.99? It was runny… The potatoes were good. Nice portions but for value and taste… Maybe it’s what I ordered but either way… It’s a deal breaker. The food wasn’t bad but it didn’t warrant those prices. A glass of orange juice, 8.00? I’m glad I tried the place but not enough to make me want to come back.
