Still recommend Bursa. I only want to update that the prices have indeed increased. Told you that wouldn’t last long! There really aren’t any cheaper options in West Portal, for what it’s worth.

Wow, this was my first time trying Mediterranean food, and I am not one bit disappointed. Literally everything that went into my mouth was followed by an «Oh my god» because it’s that delicious! Their hummus was the first that I tried, and I swear I wanted to eat it by the spoonful. We also had the lamb kebab and the Adana kebab, and both were exotic and fantastic. The lamb kebab was pretty chewy, but not dry. The Adana kebab was so well-seasoned that I didn’t need to eat it with anything else other than the rice(it was also a little spicy.) All in all, I’m very happy that I found this little spot. Servers are incredibly sweet and attentive as well!

We came in with a reservation in the middle of their busy time on Saturday. We had to wait for about 20 – 25 minutes for our table. The manager was nice enough to bring us free appetizers. I looked on their menu and it was at least $ 15 worth. I think everyone had a great dinner and appreciated the gesture. Kafka kebab was definitely the highlight of the evening.

My favorite little lunch spot in West Portal. Everyone is so friendly, and their wraps are incredible. Try the salmon! Classic little neighborhood restaurant.

Ok, Bursa. You’re pretty tasty. You have friendly, helpful, and adorable staff. Your food is different from most of what’s available nearby … and there’s always a little left to enjoy later. You’re not over-complicated, and you’re not a pretentious, overpriced date. Your endings are sweet, with depth and maturity. Yeah, I guess we can keep seeing each other. In case you can’t tell, I like this place. The food feels authentic and it is certainly good. My table loved the«cigars» and the combo as apps, and all of our entrees were impressive. I definitely loved my giant stuffed eggplant(only critique is that it could use a little more feta, but you can always ask for that!). Water was refilled promptly and regularly, plates came from the kitchen fairly quickly, and our service was super pleasant overall. What’s keeping them from a 5? Well, the wine is decently overpriced(otherwise things seemed affordable). The dining room is OK, but could be more homey or modern. I also wish there was an option to replace the rice/orzo with something healthier(quinoa? says the cliché san-franciscan in me). Good for: dates, meet-ups, weeknight dinners, and probably take-out!

Yaasss! I have found a nearby, tasty mediterranean spot as they seem to sparse or non-existent in some SF neighborhoods. I’ve been to Bursa on a few occasions for to go orders and dining in, and fairly busy each time I strolled in. There food is fresh and consistently good. Weekday lunch specials are now $ 10(formerly $ 8). It’s a good deal as you can entrée, rice, and salad. I’ve ordered the chicken kabob the majority times, and it has been seasoned well and tender. You can order pita bread for $ 1, and it’s fantastic! Warning, I loved the lamb special, especially for the weekday special price but was disappointed when I arrived home to see that they only gave me 3 pieces of kabob meat. Other than that, they have been pretty fair portions. Dining in was a good experience as well. I shared the crab cake appetizer(thumbs up) and ordered a chicken kabob of course, and hummus. On every visit, Bursa customer service was very personable and helpful.

A nice cozy restaurant in the West Portal neighborhood with decent parking availability. My family and I came here on a weekday night in celebration of my Mom’s birthday. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and were seated a moment later. I couldn’t help, but notice the fresh bouquet of flowers at the entrance. Beautiful! What we ordered: Two Mixed Plates(rack of lamb, chicken, lamb, and beef) w/a side of rice, salad, and yogurt Combo plate(hummus, dolma, yogurt, etc.) Beef Stroganoff Surprisingly enough, the best dish we had was the Beef Stroganoff. LOL! This dish packed the most flavor in the cream, tender meat, and a little pickled surprise. That was definitely something I wasn’t expecting, but I’m glad we ordered it!

Came here on a Saturday around 6pm with my family and there was no wait, but place was more than half full. SERVICE: A+! Guaranteed you and you party will stay hydrated because the waitress is on top of it! I don’t remember seeing any of our glass of water even half empty. The waiter has a great sense of humor and likes to make jokes here and there. Hostess, checks up on you to make sure everything is okay and tastes good. They also give out complimentary bread and sauce with refills before your meal! FOOD: Chicken strogonoff was delicious and creamy — came with salad and jasmine rice. Beyti was a few of only dishes that did not come with rice because it is ground meat wrapped in lavash(see pictures below). The greek yogurt in that dish gave it a tangy taste which I thought was a great pairing with the meat and tomato sauce. The stuffed eggplant and kebab was cooked like your typical Mediterranean/middle eastern style dish. The food is a little on the pricey side, so this won’t be a often go-to dinner place. AMBIANCE: Medium sized restaurant with booths and tables. Walls were decked out with paintings and overall gave off a cozy feel! Great setting for dates or family dinners :)

My first time going out for mediterranean food and I thought it was great! My friend and I came on a Saturday afternoon & there were actually a lot of people in there — but no wait. We decided to split the falafel wrap(w/fries) and kofte kebab(w/salad & rice). Everything was so flavorful & beautifully presented. The best thing was that it was super cheap! I think we each paid like $ 10 and we were both pretty full. Honestly I was pretty content with just half the falafel wrap but couldn’t resist the rice plate & kabob! The service was kind of mixed. Some waiters were really friendly and personable. They would ask if we needed more water & how our food was, but others didn’t say much and looked kind of rude. But nonetheless, I had a great first experience… great lunch option if you’re in the area!

Bursa is a great choice for a cheap but super filling lunch in the West Portal area! I came with a friend after working out and we were both stuffed by the end of our meal… And we each paid a little over $ 10! We ordered the falafel wrap($ 8) and the kofte kebab plate($ 10) to share. When the food came out, we noticed the portions were huge! The falafel wrap was neatly cut in half and we picked fries over the salad. I would say the wrap is a foot long but maybe half the diameter of a burrito… if that makes sense haha. So it’s pretty large and definitely shareable. This was my first time having falafel and I was impressed! I didn’t expect too much because I normally love my meat, but I liked the crunch from the outside breading and there was a lot of flavor from the hummus and avocado tahini sauce. I also really loved the flatbread that it was wrapped in… It wasn’t your typical super-thick flatbread, it was a little thinner! It was grilled a little so it had a nice char too. :) The kofte kebab was also delicious! The ground beef and lamb was very tender and not dry at all. It came with a white sauce(tahini maybe?) on the side, orzo jasmine rice, and a side salad. The meat was pretty good on its own, sometimes I didn’t even need the sauce! I really loved the rice and orzo combo. It was slightly buttery and addicting to eat! One small downside is that they give a large amount of rice and salad, but only one kebab. I wish there was 2 kebabs! The meat: side ratio is a little off, but the total amount of food was worth it for $ 10. Service was okay. When we first came in we were barely greeted and basically led towards a table with no talking… Haha. But later on we encountered a nice/funny waiter! The ambiance is also very nice, with high ceilings and decorations on the walls. I would definitely come back here! The food was tasty and for the price, it can’t be beat. I’m still slowly discovering mediterranean food, and Bursa is a place I enjoyed!

One of the best Turkish/Greek Mediterranean restaurant in sf. The food was really awesome! I tried the Appetizer combo, lamb Kebab, and Beer. The food doesn’t have that much salt, grease, or fat in it. The waiters were very friendly:)!! Definitely wanna go back!

I came here for lunch on a weekend and this place lived up to my Unilocal expectations. The baba ghanouj was good with the pita bread. The chicken kabob was moist and delicious and came with a yogurt sauce, rice and arugula salad. And the salmon wrap with fries was also good. The place was nearly full, but we were seated promptly. Food portions were also good so I was well-fed. Parking in the West Portal area was a bit difficult.

I’ve been wanting to come here! So, today I went. The place has a pretty good ambience and folks are friendly! I was given the lunch menu and I was surprised when I saw the prices! I ordered the Kofte and the chicken Kabob for my daughter. Both are delicious! Both came with salad and rice and the portions are really good! The Kofte has good proportion of ground beef and lamb which is just perfect as I don’t like lamb by itself. The Chicken was well spiced/marinated and is tender and moist! I’m coming back to take my siblings! I just know they’ll like it too!

What’s worse than a bad crab cake? How about a cold crab cake that’s full of bread crumbs and an even crabbier waitress? Came here for dinner with a friend of mine and wound up regretting it. Flavorless hummus. Give me Trader Joes or Whole Foods packaged hummus any day over this place. Dry Kofte Kebab, and did I mention the horrible rude and slow service. When we told our waitress about the cold crab cakes she said that’s the way they are. And when I mentioned my fish being rather dry she said don’t come back. That’s great advice! I won’t be back.

Wow! Wow! Wow! I can’t begin on what to say about this fine establishment! So my fiancé and I were shopping in Union Square as most individuals do when they are in city of San Francisco. We worked up a appetite and we came to a conclusion that we wanted Turkish/Mediterranean food. I looked on Unilocal and the first thing that came up was Bursa. It had 4 stars and about 500 reviews and I was just«wowed» by the pictures. We arrived at the restaurant and I was really anticipating to try theirs hummus because I’m a big fan of hummus. As we approached the restaurant we saw that they were really busy but I called in ahead of time to make a reservation and as you know it our seats were waiting for us. That really made me happy because nowadays when you make reservations you still have to wait a good 15 – 20 minutes. We were seated and we ordered a side of hummus and two waters. They brought out our hummus at a perfect time and then we ordered out entrees. Sitting next to us was 3 old ladies just talking and gossiping and enjoying there fine wine as I recalled on what they had said. A gentle man comes and sits right at there table with a big bottle of wine and these ladies were just fascinated and amazed by him. I thought to myself and was like who is this man. He sits down with them and starts talking and gossiping with them as well. Our meals then come and as we are about to eat the gentleman starts a conversation with me. He was pretty drunk so I knew these conversations were going to drag. I introduced myself and he introduced himself and apparently he was the OWNER. I was really shocked to be speaking to the owner of a fine restaurant. We talked from the moment I got my food till the moment I finished my desert. He was a very great and generous man. I was very humbled to meet him and talk to him. As I pulled out my card he told me to put it back in my pocket because the food was on him. Right there and then was when I knew this man was just a great man. He called my wife and I his little children as I recall. The food is amazing here and so is the ambiance. MUSTGO!!!

I love the use of various spices and fresh herbs in Mediterranean cuisine, so it’s no doubt that I’d enjoy food from Bursa. Their $ 8 lunch specials are portioned fairly for the price paid, and they’re probably the best lunch deals at West Portal. The $ 8 lunch options include entrée-sized salads, wraps, and kebabs. I recommend the kebabs, although I have yet to try their wraps. The chicken kebab consists of one skewer of white meat chicken with onion and green bell pepper. Although the meat was a little dry, it still had a nice, smokey crust. The Andana kebab, which is mixed ground beef and lamb, was flavorful, but not spicy(hot) as I anticipated. Unfortunately, the meat was also a bit dry. But despite the meat being dry, the side of yogurt sauce definitely help add a refreshing flavor to the dish overall. The kebabs are served with a bed of orzo jasmine rice and a salad, which make this lunch special a perfect balance among carbs, proteins, and vegetables. The restaurant isn’t too small, and they accommodate large groups well. They take reservations too. My only gripe is that the service was a little slow, even during my visit at non-peak lunch hours.
