I love this place and I live right next door to it. The owner is extremely nice, but the dark haired woman at the register in the mornings has been so extremely rude to me time and time again that I’ve decided to stop going to this place. Every morning I walk in thinking maybe today she’ll be nice. I walk in smiling asking her how her day is and she doesn’t answer. Stares daggers at me till I order and is snarky and rude when I ask any sort of question. I have never been treated so rudely for absolutely no reason. It’s a shame because I absolutely love this place and recommend it to everyone, but will no longer be going here. I just really don’t need to start my morning off that way. This is also only my second Unilocal review… that’s how bad the service was this morning.

Solid spot for coffee and amazing bread/bagels. Plus free wifi, great little establishment.

I must say this place makes a good dirty chai, but the staff is quite rude. One time I went in on a casual Saturday morning and there was a short line, but the woman at the register was so frantic and stressed it made the energy of the whole place so negative. I felt intrusive asking for my quiche that she forgot to heat while I waited for 10 minutes. Just earlier this week another woman at the register spoke to me in such a rude ton twice, it made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and had to leave without sitting to do work as planned. Cute spot with potential, but please hire some smiling friendly people, its a chill neighborhood spot, even the Starbucks staff is friendlier. I’ll be checking out other places in the neighborhood from now on.

It would be nice to know that they actually close at 2pm on the weekends, instead of 4pm, like the Unilocal info claims…

I live right down the street so I’ve given this café a lot of chances… and I’ve gotta say I’ve been consistently disappointed. The coffee tastes burnt, they always mess up my order unless I tell them 3 times exactly what I want, and the baristas seem to never be in a good mood [I’ve worked in food service so I totally feel their patin, but still]. I can’t speak for the food, but as for drinks I wouldn’t recommend the coffee. The drip coffee is ehh. The pumpkin spice latte is just coffee with Torani and does nooot taste like amazing melty pumpkin goodness :*(The one drink I DO like here is the chocolate chai(they’ve got the tea down, I guess). I hope this place improves because I would like to keep coming here. The atmosphere and free wifi are the only things that make it worth it.

It’s solidly mediocre. None of the food in particular stands out, with the exception of the panini. The breakfast burritos were lumpy, sad, and mushy. Everything else is pretty standard fare. If you’re absolutely starving or needs re caffeinated, it’ll certainly do the job. But otherwise it’s not really worth making a trip out.

One of my friends turned me onto this place, and now I come here all the time. the food is good, and the coffee is great. The staff is universally nice and helpful. They’ll even remember your order, if you come here frequently enough and get it started without your even needing to order.

Great little spot! The coffee is really good and it’s dog friendly. I had a breakfast burrito and then a BLT and both were good. The place has a laid back atmosphere and they play good music.

Happy hippie. The sandwich: Hummus, spring mix, carrots and tomato on wheat. Likely good enough alone. Even better adding $ 1.50 for turkey. Less hippie. More happy. So delicious. The customer: Do like hummus so guess there is a little hippie inside. Loved the above. Same with the sweet blackberry granola pancakes served before 12 on weekends. With that dish you get three pancakes integrated with plenty of fruit and a few crunchy hints of granola. Served with a smooth American with sugar free vanilla for $ 8. It’s a delicious deal. Large open windows give a fresh air vibe to small space. Lots of wood tables for working(free WiFi) as well as various books and art accents add personality. Friendly staff too. Happy to give four stars.

I love an independently-owned coffee shop like this one. The veggie grilled sandwich was tasty and the ingredients were fresh. My kid liked sitting nearby and pretending not to know me while I nursed my baby in the cozy seat under the stairs. She was very please with the vanilla almond milk we bought there, while I enjoyed the fresh carrot juice. Our wait staff has been pleasant and helpful throughout our four or five visits. The bathroom was clean, too.

My personal experience was not that amazing because the $ 7 grilled cheese had a minimal amount of cheese and the bread didn’t even have butter. For a place called the bread and butter café that’s kind of strange. BLT was good though.

A very nice café with friendly staff. There’s some electrical outlets and the wifi works well. Their breakfast menu seems pretty good. I’ve only had one item off of it so far but it’s been great. The bathrooms are decent quality. You need key.

This café is located down the street from my house and I have tried multiple times to like it but it has continually disappointed me. The food and coffee are average but the prices are hefty for what you get. What bothers me is the staff– time and time again they have been condescending, rude, and incredibly brusque when dealing with me. Each time I have walked away feeling like a bother rather than a customer.

I love this place so much! I discovered this lovely, little neighborhood coffee shop when walking to work one morning, and it quickly became part of my daily routine. I’ve had everything from espresso drinks to iced coffees to bagels to sandwiches and I have never been disappointed by the food or the incredible service. It was an added bonus that they began to recognize me and remember my order! Love when that happens. Sadly, this place is no longer on the way to my new job by I try to stop by whenever I’m in the neighborhood.

Really cozy, non-corporate coffee shop. There are some legit breakfast items such as pancakes, too. I had a stack of 2 blueberry pancakes, which tasted really fresh and light. So much more amazing than brunch spots. And can’t believe it was less than 5 bucks. Coffee was alright. I wish I lived closer– would live in this café.

I want to give them 5 stars(great food and coffe and owner), however the dark-haired woman who seems to be in charge when the owner is away is quite rude and extremely unprofessional(I’m basing this on multiple interactions with her). Otherwise, this is a great alternative to Starbucks!

Solid four stars. Good selection of tasty coffee, great food, and friendly staff. The food is kinda expensive for the portions you get — but everything is really yummy.

I just love this place. I found it years ago on a fluke and had completely forgotten it until I moved to the neighborhood. Great coffee. Great music. Great staff and owner. Also, order the avocado and cream cheese bagel.

Love the food, Love the people. Everything is made to order. Even a simple bagel w/cream cheese tastes really fresh. Using high quality ingredients, you can really taste the care put into all the items. Its also a really great place to study or read a book on a quiet afternoon. This place is a go-to if you’re ever taking a walk through the neighborhood.

Bread and Butter is the ultimate neighborhood café. It’s cute, quaint and tucked away just off the Panhandle. Their coffee is fan-tast-ic, they have fresh juices, ready-to-heat paninis, breakfast burritos and quiches, and they offer an extremely reasonably priced breakfast menu to boot. The staff are rad and friendly. Seating is cozy — there’s even a little velvet chair underneath the stairs. This place is my best friend on Saturday/Sunday mornings. They’re not open very late(–4pm/3pm on Sundays), so get in here when you can. *Grab the giant silver spoon on the coffee bar to go pee/fix your hair.
