Seriously good sourdough. Amazing waffles. Not too pricey for the amount of food and the quality. A must stop on fishermans wharf.

Delicious sourdough bread. Need I say more. Consistently good, they’ll slice your loaf if you want and they even have sandwiches, coffee and soup. It’s such a gem to have this place in the Richmond.

Tasteless and bland Clam Chowder, and cold & chewy sourdough. Too much hype, food not up to standards.

Had a bread bowl here wasn’t hot was very cold I don’t know if it was from the weather or just The temperature from the soup. Although it was good. The bread was very chewy which I love I did buy some bread home which was also very good. Would not get the soup again.

This place is great! It’s a bakery. So you don’t go there for chili, or pizza, or soup even, although they do have the clam chowder but it’s not enough for a group of dipstick tourists. You go here for bread. Super nice staff and fantastic bread. They’ll even slice it for you. It’s a bakery. They have great bread.

Booooo! No soup in bread bowl! ThIs hole in the wall joint is ridiculously small, expect a line out the door. I think the only soup they had was clam chowder but couldn’t try it cuz the lady looked into their pot & stirred it & goes 20 more minutes! Really. Skip on this location. Outdoor seating but it’s freezing in the city most of the time & very limited menu.

Finally a place that serves clam chowder without bacon in a bread bowl. The sourdough bowl was perfect and the chowder has just the right amount of clams. Note that there’s only a couple of somewhat run down tables and chairs outside for eating.

Came here for bread left with a 2 pound pumpernickel. They offer slice the bread but I like my slices thick and I had sandwiches for 3 days. They have many types of bread. I recommend rather then going to a store take the time to go and get a fresh loaf.

If you haven’t had Boudin before, you haven’t lived. I’m just going to continue on as if you have and give you the chance to go by your nearest location and read the rest of this later. Did you know this is the original factory location? I started to suspect this when I went on my first walk around my new neighborhood and I could smell the boudin 2 blocks away. How cruel. So this is very different from any other Boudin location I’ve been to. It’s extremely small and really just a storefront at their main factory warehouse. They have every kind of bread Boudin makes, some pastries, a couple pre-make sandwiches, the classic chowder in bread bowl, and maybe a premade salad?(don’t quote me on that). They also have basic coffee. What they DON’T have is much seating. They have only outside tables(3 to be exact) that sit 2 at each. Surprisingly every visit I’ve made they’ve been pretty busy with take-out customers. They also only have one employee working given the size, so it can be a little slow. Having said all that, once you realize this isn’t much of a restaurant and more of just a take-home bakery, it is everything you could want in the neighborhood. I will definitely be a regular customer now that I live so close by! My other minor qualm with this location is that they don’t do the Boudin frequent buyers card. Weird, right? I could be getting so many Boudin points with all the bread I’m about to buy… Overall: Just know that this isn’t a ‘Boudin Bistro’ like almost every other location. Plan to go in, buy, and bring home or to the park since it’s very possible that they won’t have seating for you at their outside tables.

Sourdough here is good. Nice crackly crust with chewy inside. It’s unfortunate the bread bowl is cold. Would be a hit if it came out steaming. Also place is tiny it’s just a storefront with a few tables outside.

Hands down best clam chowder I’ve had in my life! So creamy, generous amount of clams, soft potatoes. Everytime I’m in the area I come back for more of their clam chowder! Their sourdough bowl is a perfect complement to the chowder. Will definitely be coming here on the regular when I’m in town

The soup tastes good. It was a small shop, only with three tables outside of the shop.

Nothing to add about the bread, simply the best in the world IMO. This is in response to the kvetching about parking, which is admittedly limited. People, this is San Francisco! Take the BUS. The SF Muni will get you from anywhere to anywhere. Buses are clean and efficient and the City adds more all the time, unlike L.A. where they keep cutting the Muni budget.

I’ve tried boudin throughout San Francisco, best known for their sourdough bread. This one has the best sourdough bread bowl! My boyfriend and I got the clam chowder bowl Togo since the small bakery does have limited seating but definitely have a great assortment of bread for your choosing. Although we did get the bread bowl to go the bread stayed fresh and had a great crunch to it. The chowder was okay, I do prefer my chowder to be less watery but it is still great with their bread bowl.

Fantastic Fresh French bread!!! OMG!!! To die for! Can you please open a location in LA? These bakers are on point! I am traveling with French people straight from Bordeaux. So they have been a little. Well maybe a lot disappointed on the mispresentation or the«French bread» that’s being sold and called all over the place… But this place… Hands down have pinned it on point! We were even able to still enjoy it the next day and it still tasted great! (That’s rare for us since a bread in the LA atleast is only good for a day.) Anyway I’m fantasizing about the bread here. I’ll just continue to haunt for some great bakeries in LA for some unbeatable French bread.

Everything is super duper fresh because baking happens at this location. They only have two kinds of sandwiches roast beef and turkey. There is always a line.

Signature Boudin’s bakery! Small corner shop on a busy traffic street. Quick service and the their sourdough bread is yummy! The smell of freshly baked bread is heavenly.

Small shop. Bakery mainly. Has some sandwiches but the main interest for me was the clam chowder and sourdough bread OFCOURSE. Meter parking. Few tables and chairs outside for nice days –otherwise you would have to «take out». I normally go to the location by the piers but I happen to find this location which is closer to golden gate park. The clam chowder bread bowl will fill you up!

What I ate: Clam chowder & jalapeño cheese bread Visit date: July 5, 2014 First time? To this location, yes. I had friends in town so I had to take them to get Boudin clam chowder, but what I didn’t want to do was bring them into the touristy masses on a holiday weekend, so we ventured to this Boudin location, far, far away from the crowds. Pros and cons of a smaller shop – Pros: same great boudin breads(maybe even more options, too!) and chowder, no crowds, lots of parking Cons: small batch soups means we had to wait for a new batch to heat up, only a few outdoor seats What was exciting for me on this visit was my chance to try their jalapeño cheese bread. It was too good, especially with the chowder. It wasn’t hugely spicy, but had great pepper flavor and was soft and chewy. This location also has bakery sweets and coffee.
