I came here because there was a groupon deal. We got the spicy soup, miso, tomato, and pork. The miso soup was very very salty towards the middle of the meal. I like tomato the best. Meat was good, selection of food was not bad… would be good to have some wonton and dumplings. I wasn’t a fan of the shrimp paste or the fish paste because it was just not tender or anything. The Pot has a better shrimp and fish paste. Overall, it’s worth trying…

Came here with my family to use the groupon deal. Apparently the groupon promotion needs 2 people or more to use the one individual $ 19 deal. Anyway, i just forgot to look at the fine print. About the food itself were good, except the chicken slices and the fish/shrimp paste. Chicken slices were very tough. Fish/shrimp paste tasted like eating marshmellow(no texture). Other than that, other items were great and the different broths were tasty.

First time I had tried 4 soup bases at once. Liked this idea!!! +1.5 stars Soup based ordered: Pork(w/herbs), Tomato veggies, Northeast sour veggies,(basically cabbage), Szechuan spicy. + 1.25 stars A bit on the pricy side for all you can eat hot pot ~ Food selection is good enough. Their lamb meat is good quality. + 0.75 star Their beef is only A-OK ~ depends on which cut you got and if they slice thick or thin ~ slicing thinness quality seem to vary. One type of beef got cut real thick and super chewy upon cook… –1 star Liked the fact that you can fix/create your own dipping sauce from the sauce bar they have there. + 1 star Environment: looks neat and clean and the ventilation is good enough, you don’t smell like hot pot when you get home the entire night. + 0.5 star Services: Not that attentive. — 0.5 stars Overall 3.5 stars

Just finished another hot pot meal. This was a particularly interesting place that our group finally decided on. Well L choice spot on and the meal was well worth the trip into the city for. Great service was key, as our waitress Shirley too good care of out table. What was so impressive about the selections were the various tofu selections. Meat selection was typical of most hot pot establishments. Seafood were well prepared with each shrimp well cleaned and trimmed. Four selection of broth, yes that’s right 4! The spicy broth wasn’t anything that was super impressive. But the pork bone broth I thought was a winner. Plus a sauce station which provided the finishing touches to the cooked meats and vegetables. Complementary shaved ice cream was provided at the end of our meal. What a perfect finish to the meal!

This place is my favorite hotpot restaurant in SF, and i think their meat and seafood are by far the freshest ive ever had for an all you can eat hot pot restaurant. Food is great, nothing to complain about. But it’s more pricy compare to other hotpot places.

Loved the spicy soup base. The beef and the fish filet were particularly delicious. Good spot to spend a leisurely meal. The extra sauces were quite an interesting addition to the meal. Will definitely be back

This just may be the best hot pot in SF. We got there around the time that they were opening on Christmas Day, and the place was already filled. Not to worry, they let us begin our all-you-can-drink endeavor while we waited 30 minutes for a table to open up. The food was amazing, especially the beer beef. And the service was quick and friendly(not always the case at most hot pot places). Big 5 stars.

Came here a year ago but just never got around to writing a Unilocal review for this place. My friend and I were going to go Little Sheep for dinner but when we got there, the line was cray cray and the wait to get a table was like 2 hours long so I hopped on Unilocal to look for another place to eat. This place popped up under Hot and New, so I called them to ask them how was the wait, to which she replied«No wait.» So my friend and I got back into her car and drove all the way from DT to Richmond. Upon our arrival, we were seated right away and had a comfy booth. My friend and I had some soju cocktails as well. Things I love: 1. The different kinds of soup!!! So unique! Usually places charge you more if you want more than one soup but here, you get 4!!! 2. They have a sauce bar so you don’t have to keep asking for sauce. 3. The menu here is extensive! There’s different kinds of meat, veggies and noodles. I’ve been wanting to come back to this place but I’ve since moved to San Jose but this place is definitely on my list of places to go back to if I ever crave hot pot in the city!

For $ 28 per person, you would think that includes the eggs. Nope. Eggs are $ 0.50 each! Also $ 28 used to include Taiwanese style snowflakes shaved ice dessert. They took this away!!! Service was extremely slow, and it’s an understatement. I was there for FOUR hours. We were served rice. No broth. No meat. 45 minutes later, the broth(hot pot) came out, some vegetables followed 15 minutes later. I did not come for vegetable hot pot. I waited for meat. Which came after an hour and 30 minutes later after we were seated. This is ridiculous. I had to remind the staff again n again n AGAIN about my shiitake and oyster mushrooms that they forgot from 3 orders before. Who wants to waste 4 hours here waiting around for the staff to bring food? Maybe they want you to eat the unlimited saucebar for $ 28.

Great place for Hot Pot! Lots of choices and we tried a lot! All were great except for the tofu, we were not a fan of that. Loved the BEERBEEF and the quail eggs! The wooden mushroom was great too! We had four soup: Miso, Beef Bone, Kimchi, and Tomato soup. The kimchi and the tomato was flavorful. All of us enjoyed the tomato soup for sure. The pork belly was a great choice as well. Overall great experience. Would come back again.

I think my reviewed disappeared, but I understand why. This place didn’t have much consistency. When they first opened everything was so good. The meat was pretty fresh and service was pretty good. The more and more I ate here, the quality and the service changed. Upon my last visit here with my friends, the waitress started out speaking to me in Cantonese. As the night progressed, it went to Mandarin, and ended with English. Ok, lady, stick to one language and stop testing my Chinese. Ok, let’s talk about the food itself. The meat was pretty good, but like I said it wasn’t fresh on some days. The portions are ok for 2 people for, but small for a party of 3 or more. I only come back here because of the four different broths. The spicy one is SUPER spicy. If you want to spice up your life, go for it. I did like the herb base the best, followed by the tomato one. I was sad they no longer had the shaved ice the last time i was here. It was free too!

Excellent place for hot pot! Our group was 5 people total and we enjoyed their AYCE and drink option — everything was pretty fresh, service was quick and polite. There’s a condiment bar where you can grab everything you want, and it’s kept pretty clean. The only things that I thought were missing which Hot Pot Garden has were slightly fresher shrimp(these were still pretty good), and extra crunchy Chinese donuts. My friend also thought the pig blood rice cake wasn’t that authentic. However, we all had a great time and found everything else really, really good — I’d totally go back!

Located on Geary Blvd. in the Outer Richmond Boiling Hot Pot is very good. The veggies were fresh and ample selection of meats. However this best thing about Boiling Hot Pot was their multiple(4) soup base pots. You can get more than the usual 2 types of soup bases. It is AYCE at $ 28 which is a bit high but it’s San Francisco. You make your own dipping sauces. The restaurant is not big and business is brisk so in peak hours expect a wait. Service was friendly and good, street parking so you get the luck of draw. One draw back is the ventilation. The room is steamy and at the end of the night your clothes will let others know you ate Hot Pot for dinner.

This shabu place is legit! It’s not a very big restaurant, so big parties, be prepared to split up! They’re very modern looking on the inside, very clean place. Always a big plus when they’re clean! Seating could get a little cramped if you have a big party like we did. You can make your own dipping sauce, they have a wide variety of ingredients for you, almost everything you need to satisfy your dipping needs. They have a huge selection of meats, from beef, pork, chicken, to different seafoods, so that was a big plus because everyone wanted something different. The staff was very helpful and polite, even though we were ordering like machines. It’s AYCE, so of course you’re suppose to take advantage of it! The pitchers were buy one get one free at the time, so we definitely took advantage of that! We stayed basically until closing, and the staff weren’t in a rush or anything. Highly recommend this shabu! Good service and good food, what more can you ask for!

Terrible service. I’m commenting on the service not the food because I didn’t even get to eat here. When I got there I asked how long the wait was and he quickly glanced over the wait list and said 20 minutes. It clearly didn’t look like 20 minutes because there was a bajillion people ahead of us but we trusted the waiter thinking he knew the list better than us. 30 minutes after, the wait list didn’t change. We went up to the waiter and ask how long the wait was and he said I don’t know without even looking at the list. If we knew that the wait was way longer 20 minutes, we would’ve left. Don’t give us false hope :( Totally ruined our night!

So cheap compared to all the other AYCE hot pot places in SF! I was dragged here by my friends so I gave it a try. Personally, not a big fan of hot pot, I prefer shabu a lot more. I thought it was cool because a lot of hot pot places have 2 types of soup but we were allowed to choose up to 4. How cool is that? I also loved that they had a lot more variety of meat and seafood. Def would come back here if I ever wanted hot pot.

AYCE hot pot! ~$ 27 for dinner. We went on Saturday evening at opening around 5PM, and we were the first table there. However, it didn’t seem very crowded — even around 7PM when we left, there were still tables available. I would still err on the early side though because the space is small. Good variety of meats, veggies, fishballs. The meat was ok — we tried all the beefs, the lamb and the pork. I would say the lamb and pork are probably the most tender. Also, not as much seafood compared to other AYCE hot pot places though. This place would be good for all you can drink alcohol for $ 10 though. Sake bomb anyone? I love that there is a sauce station to mix your own sauces, and I also love that the pots are split into 4 compartments, so you can get 4 different soup bases! Something for everyone!

I loved this place. How have I never come here before? Aside from being at a great price point compared to shabu places, they have so much variety and the broth were all really good! You pick 4 broths — we picked pork bone, kimchee, tomato, and spicy. ALL were fantastic, I think tomato might have been all of our favorite. It’s $ 28 per person for all you can eat. We didn’t add the $ 10 for all you can drink because it only really included beer and sake, so we ordered sake and flavored soju in the individual drinks section. Get the house mix fish paste. That was so delicious. I really liked the lamb, all the enoki mushroom, tripe, tendons, fish, mussels, spinach, everything! But note, only order what you can eat! They have a sauce area where you make your own. I like to add some black vinegar to my mixture. They also have kimchee and pickled cucumbers there to take. We had the green tea snow ice at the end. It had popping boba on top! It was no class 302 in socal, but it was still pretty tasty! PS. the place looks small but they have a back area! Great for group dinners!

When I ate here, this place was called Hot Pot Island. I guess the name has changed? Or maybe change in ownership? We all did AYCE(but I’m reading in recent reviews that there isn’t AYCE offered??) and I can’t recall the exact price, but it was standard. The pot is split so that you can have 4 different broths. You can choose which ones you want but I let the restaurant staff give us the first timer variety. My favorite was the pickled cabbage. I’m a sucker for that stuff, so noodles cooked in that broth were so good! Reminded me of Taiwanese noodles. There is a condiment/sauce bar. Each sauce is labeled, so feel free to help yourself. Pretty nice variety of meats to choose from. Loved the beer marinated beef. Service was okay. They were quick to refill our water and our broths, but I really hope AYCE is still offered here…

Another long overdue review haha. I wish Unilocal would give us the option of giving half stars. This place is a 3.5 instead of a 4. Hot Pot Island, sounds like a place where all people do is bask in broth in a hot pot. Tried this place out sometime during the summer last year with a couple of my girlfriends. We were the first group to come in, so we didn’t really know what to expect. Pros: — Located along Geary by other restaurants and dessert places. — Rather than picking what broth you want, you are given the best of all worlds. Meaning, you get ALL broths!(Tomato broth, House special broth, Spicy miso broth, and something called«Nourishing broth») — Unlike traditional Hot Pot places, YOU are in control of what you want by simply marking down what veggies, seafood, condiments, and meats you want. — Nice atmospheres with comfortable booths. They can also accommodate bigger parties since they have round tables. — Accepts cash and card Cons: — Workers are a hit or miss here. — Parking is hard even though you have the option of street parking or parking in a nearby public lot(it costs moolah though) — Not a big fan of some of their broths. — The quality of some of the foods were superb as compared to others. It depends on when you decide to go here, I suppose. — Business was slow despite only about 2 groups, including my group, dining at that particular day. Overall, another decent hot pot place with a nice concept of giving diners an opportunity to try out different broths rather than being limited to two. The service could use some work, but otherwise, it’s an O-K place in my book.
