Friendly, competent, and caring staff make this a cut above many other pharmacies. Although it’s a Walgreens now, it’s definitely a cut above the typical big Walgreens store. I’m happy to have switched my prescriptions back to this place and hope that the recent purchase by Walgreens won’t result in any degradation of service.

They have made quite a few mistakes with my presciptions over the years, but always are nice about correcting them. Sometimes I get the feeling that they’re too eager to manage their workload instead of doing what the customer asked for. All in all, they’re pretty good and better than Walgreens. Only problem with that is … Walgreens bought them out so we’ll see how that goes.

*** UPDATE *** This pharmacy was purchased by Walgreen’s and is now one of their specialty pharmacies called«Community Walgreen’s». This place is not your typical Pharmacy or Drugstore… which in this case is a GREAT thing. You won’t find toilet paper or air freshener but what you WILL find is great service when it comes to getting your prescriptions filled. While they mainly specialize in filling prescriptions for chronic illnesses like HIV, it is a full service Pharmacy which can fill any of your prescription needs. The thing I absolutely LOVE about this place is the fact that if you have medications that you take every month, once you provide them with the first prescription, you will probably never have to ever provide them with another — despite how many refills are listed on that little piece of paper. The reason… THEY take care of contacting the doctor for you to get your refills. No more calling the doctor to request one, no more«touch-tone refills» where you need to find the prescription numbers, nothing. You just show up around the same time every month to pick up your order. If for some reason the doctor would not authorize a refill, they will let you know that too. They take virtually all drug plans, INCLUDING Medicare Part D and ADAP. If there is a problem with your insurance, they will do their best to work with you. The entire staff is very knowledgeable and will take the time to explain any interactions or precautions that may need to be heeded. The even provide mail order prescription services. The ONLY drawback is that they have recently changed their hours so that they are no longer open on Saturdays, but you can arrange to have your medications shipped to your home or office. This place is GREAT! Sure beats the Walgreen’s on 18th and Castro by a long shot!
