I normally don’t Unilocal when I really should when I find a company, service, food. ect that is completely«Off the hook«. Well, I recently hired Feda, «Beyond the Border» to cater my husband’s 60th birthday at a local tavern. I loved it, my guest’s loved and raved about how delicious the food was and I’m still hearing daily from my guests. We had approximately 90 guests at the party and every one of my friends and family commented on how delicious the taco bar was that Feda had set up. He cooked and we had catered, steak, chicken, pork, shrimp and rod cod fish tacos. He made a delicious salad, rice and beans to accompany the fish tacos. He had all the fixings, shredded cabbage, cilantro, ect and delicious and tasty sauces for the tacos. Also the tasty appetizers he made was a yummy guacamole and crazy delicious shrimp ceviche, with the chips for dipping. I can’t say enough about this company. You won’t go wrong… His quality of meat and all the fresh ingredients he uses is really over the top. He set a picture perfect table, napkin dispenser, and staggered the plates so my guest could easily grab a plate without handling all the plates beneath, and forks were all wrapped in plastic individually. Perfection ! It was so great that we’ve hired him again this weekend to cater my mother’s 96 birthday, although a smaller crowd, my family all wanted him to come back. So, with that being said… Try his food, hire him for your parties… you won’t go wrong… Feda, you Rock! Yummy, Yummy, Yummy … Thank you, Lucy & Frank and from all my guests.

Just had Beyond the Border fish tacos for the first time at the Belmont Save the Music festival and I am a fan! Will look forward to the next time we can track them down, as they are some of the best I have ever had. Yummmmm!

I grabbed some Beyond the Border when they were parked outside of Hop Dogma in El Granada. I was not too sure what to expect from a small town food truck parked on an uncrowded street. However, my friends who were locals reassured me it was good. I had a shrimp taco along with some yucca fries and tortilla soup. The taco itself blew me away! It was perfectly spicy and they did not skimp on the shrimp! Not to mention, they’re huge! The yucca fries themselves were a bit bland, but they tend to be, however the sauce made them delicious! The tortilla soup was surprisingly spicy and they have me a lot, which I thought was a great deal for the $ 3 cup of soup! Not to mention they top it with some tortilla strips! Everything was perfect, and I would definitely eat this everyday!

Great pupusas from a food truck at G Food Truck Lounge. I ordered the 2 cheese & pork pupusas for $ 7. The hot sauce definitely packs some heat. The curtido is served dry here though. Very filling and well balanced in flavor. A little pricey for pupusas but it’s understood since it’s a truck. I would definitely go back to them if I’m craving a comforting pupusas! I am intrigued by their fish tacos as well that seem to get rave reviews.

It was delicious! Let me just shine some light to people who like to say pupusas are Mexican! Pupusas are from El Salvador! Hence the beyond the border!

I’m usually a bit skeptical of Mexican food trucks that are anything but the grimy old school versions that predated the bougie food truck revolution. Though this truck wasn’t slinging tortas or al pastor, their crispy fish taco totally won me over. Just shows what attention to detail and some higher quality ingredients can do. Pacific Rockfish Taco: My benchmark fried fish taco is Rubio’s, which is actually pretty solid despite being mainstream. This one holds its own and is slightly better. The fish batter is crispy and the fillet beneath is tender and moist. The amount of fish for a taco is pretty generous. There is some freshly chopped salsa chunks which enhances it further. Some cabbage, but not too much. The only room for improvement would be to add more cream sauce. Cheese & Loroco Pupusa: The texture was a bit too soggy/greasy. I’m wondering if they pre-made these and then reheated them on the griddle, hence the extra oil. The cheese filling is packed nicely inside with only a tad oozing out. I kinda wish the cheese was a little sloppier so I could get more crispy cheese bits. The curtido was on point. Not too vinegary with fresh oregano leaves really giving it some personality. Yucca Fries w/Chipotle Aioli: The chipotle aioli was a great pairing; creamy really compliments yucca well. The fries were mixed though. The thinner ones were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The thicker ones were a bit too firm inside. They should try to cut them uniformly to get more consistent results from the deep fryer.

This food is ridiculously good! The food is so quality and really artisan. These guys really care about the quality of their food and it shows. The owner told me about their specials and you can tell he has a tremendous amount of pride in his work. I had the fish tacos and they were perfectly cooked with a light crisp texture and the steak salad had the most delicious sauce. This truck stands out to me as they are a notch above the rest. I really recommend trying them out.

Walked past the UNPLAZA and saw that off the grid was there. I spotted beyond the border and thought oh yummy Mexican food. I was surprised that they had pupusas so I got the pupusas plate which consisted of two bean and cheese pupusas with curtido and sauce for $ 7 I opted against the curtido since it’s not up my alley, a little on the expensive side for pupusas but they tasted worth it. Let me say the pupusas were scrumptious the sauce let them be less dry and didn’t overpower. They had this green leafy herb and I think that added good flavor. Defiantly will be getting this plate again. I give them four stars because I also added a side of black beans & rice. Now I consider myself a rice & bean connoisseur considering that’s all I opted to eat in my childhood. They didn’t meet the mark in my book. They were mixed up similar to Nicaraguan Gallo Pinto which is okay for me but it was too condimented in my opinion. The spiciness flavor over powered them and I just tossed them. I suggest skipping the black beans & rice.

Wifey and I are frequent visitors to Half Moon Bay since it’s right in our backyard. We just take Highway down the coast and we are there in 15 –20 minutes. There’s a portion along Highway 1 where it’s gridlocked every weekend and it’s right before Pillar Point Harbor. Here’s a tip: To avoid traffic, take a left on the first stop light(Capistrano Rd.) and take the road(Ave Alhambra) alongside the highway until you reach the end of the block unto the next stop light(Coronado St.). This should save you minutes. While taking this detour, I noticed this Food Truck parked in front of the Hop Dogma Brewing Company and made a mental note to check it out on the way back. Several hours later, I didn’t tell the Wifey what I was doing and parked behind the Food Truck. Of course she asked me what I was doing, so I told her I was hungry and I just wanted to try their food. Besides, I checked the Unilocal reviews and they were all pretty good. She gives me a dirty look and said to go ahead and order for myself only. Suits you fine, I said to myself. So I ordered the Beer-battered Rock Cod Fish Taco and Cheese and Loroco Pupusas. I asked the guy what a Loroco was and he replied that it was a flower bud that is mainly found in Central America. I originally wanted to try the Pork Pupusas, but it wasn’t ready for another half an hour. After I received my order, I took ‘em both to the car and started eating ‘em. Of course the Wifey got jealous and took some bite from both of ‘em. I am not much of a Fish Taco guy, but this was delicious. It had a nice crunchy texture with a soft velvety meat that was cooked perfectly. But the Loroco blew me away. This was the BESTPUPUSA I’ve had to date. It was filled with gooey, melted cheese and the Loroco was nothing I’ve ever had before. In fact, after I finished both plates, Wifey decided to order two more orders of the same dishes. I am definitely a fan of this Food Truck and I will make sure to grab me a bite the next time I spot ‘em.

This Place is Amazing! I Follow This Truck All Over The City! The Fish Tacos Are By FAR Thee Best I’ve Ever Had! The Pupusas Are Stuffed w/Goodies. Far From Being Skimpy. They Were Loaded! The Salads Are Great if You Prefer Something Healthier! The Guys on This Truck Are Great On Service Too! The Line Here Gets Pretty Long Sometimes, Which I’m Sure Can Be Stressful. But They Buzz Through It! I Don’t Care How LongThe Line Is, I’m Waiting! This Truck is Also Really Clean If You Peep Inside When You Order. I’ve Been To Other Trucks Closer 2 my Job & it Looks Disgusting In There. Beyond the Border is Clean & You Can’t See Grease Stuck to the Windows or anything which is a plus! Well, I’m gonna head out now to the truck before they get swamped !!

Love that food trucks come to my work and today was lucky that beyond the border came. I got a bowl of tortilla soup($ 7) it’s delicious, full of flavor and pretty spicy. It’s a huge portion as well. Added bonus that it was gluten free and they have quite a few GF choices on their menu as well. Service was quick, probably since all I ordered was soup. Will definitely look for them again so I can try more of their menu.

I love this place! Every time the truck comes to my work I get so excited! I always get the chimichurri steak salad & the tortilla soup. I will say, when you ask for your steak, ask for it a little more well done than you usually order. I normally do medium rare, but here I ask for medium! I also ask for extra chimichurri because its SOGOOD. The tortilla soup is heavenly, it has a little kick to it that is just right. I have had the pupusas once before, but they were just OK, so I will stick to my original order.

Really good pupusas. I especially liked the cheese and loroco one. Delicious. The shell was so soft and fluffy and the filling was great, too. But, it’s not the best one I’ve had. Still, it’s a good deal at 6 bucks for 2 of them.

This food truck stopped by SFSU. I ordered lunch for my coworker and myself. I got the Surf & Turf Special(Fish Taco, pupusa of choice, choice of side) and my coworker got a pupusa plate of 2 cheese & loroco pupusas and tortilla soup. My plate was pretty cool. Fish taco was okay. I liked the meat of the fish but wanted a crisper batter. The sauce was very peppery but I didn’t like it that much. I also got the yucca fries as my side. I thought it tasted good(flavor of the yucca and the seasoning the put) but the were definitely dry. The chili aioili it came with was cool. Definitely great with the fries, kinda wanted more of it. I also got the cheese & loroco pupusa. The filling was good but there wasn’t enough of it! My coworker agreed on that one. His tortilla soup was too heavy and oily for us to really eat. It seemed more chilli like. I wish I had saved my pupusa to eat with it. Overall okay experience.

I love, love, love this place. Great papusas. Mine have never been dry, and I come here everytime they are at Mission Dispatch. Loroco is delicious… as are all the flavors! I really recommend checking this place out. The side salad is actually really delicious, don’t let the funky purple color make you dismiss it as just another slaw. Additionally the soup is bomb– not your standard tortilla soup! It is really spicy and smokey, light on the tortilla strips, but heavy on the veggies. I got a bowl today for the first time(usually just get a side as included with papusas) and it was awesome, came with a side as well. I chose yuca fries, but was scared to leave without a papusa, and got one too… ended up with WAY too much food but for 13 bucks including tip I am so ok with it, it’s kind of ridiculous. Round 2 for dinner!

I wanted to like this place a lot — it was reasonably priced and I love trying new foods from food trucks that aren’t your standard sandwiches, or fusion-burritos. For $ 8, I got a lot of food — 2 pupusas and a side(I picked yucca fries) The pupusas were on the dry side, too much of the masa and not enough filling. I had the pork & cheese and the bean & cheese, and liked the meat one better. The yucca fries were also dry — I’ve had yucca fries plenty of times before at Limon, Pica Pica. I know they’re all probably frozen and deep fried every time I have had them, but the inside was not terribly soft and they just okay. With so many food trucks around, I probably won’t make my way back to this one. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t one that I’d go chasing around the city for their food.

Fish taco was good… the side salad was really yummy it had mixed greens, corn, tomatoes and onions with an italian vin– surprisingly good! The pupusa on the other hand was not so good. Growing up making pupusas the #1 thing to remember is don’t skimp on the filling! Well this place did just that. There was more masa than pork filling. Also the filling was very flavorful but jus not enough. With so many choices around here prolly won’t go back
