Bernie’s definitely seems to be a neighborhood locale. While sitting outside enjoying my coffee and croissant, several patrons walked in an immediately saw someone they knew. It was kind of endearing. I was more of the drop-in neighborhood adventurer, but Bernie’s definitely fulfilled my morning coffee and snack needs. My order came in just under $ 8 and wasn’t especially special by any means, but it also wasn’t terrible. The chocolate croissant met my expectations and the hazelnut honey latte was also pretty decent. Definitely on the sweet side, but that’s to be expected.

Yumm — love this coffee shop. So glad they instituted even larger cups for my caffeine habits. I really like the morning cake(or is is bread?) and by bf likes the Marble Cake and cookies, pretty much everything there. One remark is that I cannot tip on my CC and never have cash so feel like these folks are missing a golden opportunity.

Normally a little quieter than Philz further up 24th and the Starbucks across the street, this is a friendly café with free wifi, nice coffee and a local feel. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area and looking to do some work or just chill out for an hour.

Needed a cozy, quiet café with reliable WiFi to spend a couple hours working and dog-sitting a naturally anxious canine. Bernie’s: perfect. Dog loves the dog treats on the counter and I love the green tea and vegan snacks. We’re both enjoying the music and friendly clientele.

Bernie’s is a nice spot to grab a coffee, tea, to go, or to hang out for a bit. I found the staff to be fairly friendly and helpful. It’s a cozy place to hang out and it’s quite active during the day. It’s a small place, so if you’re hoping to grab a seat, be prepared to possibly wait until there’s room. It’s conveniently located next to Whole Foods, in case you want to do some shopping before or after your morning mocha. The reason I gave this place 4 stars and not 5 stars is that I’d love to see some more tea options(& a different tea bag or steeper. My tea leaked all over me), some faster wifi(The wifi was a bit slow. Maybe I caught it on a bad day), and cleaner bathrooms. I will certainly visit Bernie’s again. It’s a great spot in Noe Valley!

Espresso shots are always pulled real nicely. I like the vibe here. Not too loud, not too boring. Just a really nice café with some nice kids behind the counter.

Warm, homey atmosphere, great coffee, and friendly people. A jewel of the Noe Valley neighborhood. Oh, and Bernie is awesome!

I met up with a couple friends for a morning coffee at Bernie’s during a trip to San Francisco. It was right near where I was staying, and felt very much like a comfortable neighborhood coffee shop, on a cute, walkable street. The place was pretty quiet at 9:00 on a Sunday morning. It was a nice spot to play catch-up. Service was friendly and there was ample seating. The space was charming, and there were lots of attractive pastries behind glass. I had a lovely cappuccino, lush with milk foam. I gather Bernie’s has free wifi, so between that and the warm atmosphere it’s more or less an ideal neighborhood hangout. I’m sure it’s well loved by the people of Noe Valley.

Not the greatest place for coffee but come back because of the friendly staff and ambiance.

Friendly staff serving large cups of good coffee, good quiche, and sriracha sauce along with academic literature on the benefits of hot sauce. Open super early and a good spot with free wifi to work out of the house in Noe valley.

Stopped by here for our weekly Wednesday morning breakfast and it was just okay. We had the ham and cheese quiche and the spinach & bacon frittata. Neither was anything special, I wouldn’t order either item again. We also had a caramel macchiato which was quite good. From our experience, you should come for the coffee but skip the savory food!

The cappuccino I just got from here tasted so burned and disgusting, I just threw it in the trash.

I really thought this place would be more like a «coffee shop» hole in the wall place instead of a generic looking café. The ambiance I give a 8 because it was very quiet and laid back but it was too mom and pop shop, I guess a place that locals favor instead of out of towners looking for speciality coffee. The mocha was just okay, and the black iced tea was delicious so I give the drink review a 5 just because it was only meh. A cute place, but not a place I would write home about! Don’t let this dissuade you from coming here though! It just wasn’t what I was looking for on my trip to the bay.

Honey hazelnut latte, yum. People are nice and my coffee is good. There’s wifi and usually a couple of empty seats. I stop here often right after eating brunch at Griddle Fresh because I like the coffee here much more…

Cheap and non-pretentious for a coffee shop that offers free wifi! It is more cozy than luxurious but it is your avg mom and pop kind of coffee shop. Ummmm, more like friend and friend coffee shop. What really adds to the 2 positives I notes above is the location and that right around it are esoteric shops which bring interesting people there. Sip your coffee as you watch people and their pets walk by or read a book or work on your laptop!

So, this was the WORST cappuccino I’ve had in the past year. Including airport Starbucks. There was a gallon of meringue on top, it was ludicrous. The espresso was burned turd juice. It was SO bad.

Good location and cool space, but if you’re looking for good coffee from a place that knows what’s up you’ll be bummed like I was. We hadn’t tried it so we gave it a chance and we won’t be back. No cold brew(the dude didn’t even know what it was). No Chemex. Skip.

I recently relocated to SF, so I’m in the(enviable?) position of needing to discover my new neighborhood haunts. It looks like Bernie’s is my first one! Stopped in for a decaf iced latte this morning, and while it was particularly delicious, that isn’t why I’ll be back — at least not entirely. While I waited(briefly) for my coffee, no less than seven employees and fellow patrons stopped to make conversation. They each welcomed me warmly to the neighborhood, hoped I’d be back in so we’d run into each other again, and joked that if I didn’t come back I should«at least not go to Starbucks.» This spot has an incredibly warm, neighborhoody vibe that I didn’t even know I was looking for. On top of that, my coffee was darn good. See you tomorrow, new friends!

After waiting 20 minutes for a table(and subsequently being told we had another 45 minutes to go), we ditched the idea of brunch at a restaurant and walked over to Bernie’s to eat(read: to keep from passing out). With no line and barely any wait, we ordered at the counter, and grabbed seats indoors. The honey hazelnut latte is actually pretty good. I didn’t note any honey(as I’d requested it «not too sweet»), but the hazelnut was definitely there, and pretty tasty. Service was fine, the quiche was the best thing there(Italian wedding cookie: meh, peach scone: eh), especially with a hefty squirt of Sriracha, and the prices were fair.

Incredibly disappointed and underwhelmed. My bestie and I came here and ordered two different lattes, the honey hazelnut and she had the pumpkin. Both were watered down and tasteless. Not to mention that despite we ordered the same size, her cup was noticeably bigger. The environment wasn’t thriving which may be the reason why the baristas weren’t the friendliest of people. It has a great exterior though and a nice book selection for kids. Pretty sure they had a restroom but didn’t stay long enough to use it.
