I happened upon this place months ago, just walking through the neighborhood. I was impressed by their fresh salads and sandwiches. Everything I’ve gotten here has been tasty and I love the fact that they focus on whole, organic foods. My favorites are the Tuna sandwich, any of their quinoa salads and their polenta fries! Their prices are on the pricier side, but it’s pretty common you that you have to pay a bit more for organic food, so I don’t mind. Since I don’t live close I often end up ordering delivery from them. Their website gives a good overview of what they have(including nutritional information!) and it’s quick and easy to order. Still haven’t visited their Laurel Heights location but I expect it is just as great as the Inner Sunset location.

I’m surprised to see so many conflicting reviews. I understand why because the prices are pretty steep. It shouldn’t cost this much to eat healthy, but sadly in the city of S.F. that’s the trend. We have the health tax, 9.5% tax, and who knows what else built into the prices of restaurant fare. The reviews for the food seem to be way off. The food is fresh, flavorful, and there are an abundant number of choices. Their sandwiches/wraps are a good value at $ 7.99. The greatest thing about this place is the Quinoa salads. I love any place that prepares Quinoa for me in a tasty manner; it’s such a pain to make myself that I’ve given up entirely. Please support this place because I want it to stay open so I can have my bi-monthly fix of fresh and healthy.

Looking to eat something healthy that will make you feel full? This is a good spot… but are you willing to pay the price for that and leave unsatisfied? Then this is the spot for you. Pros: — All the SAMPLING they offered — The Friendly staff who didn’t judge us as we looked like«heffers» looking to graze the fields. — The Biodegradable trash bins — GOGREEN! — The farro risotto w/asparagus(^5 to the guy who only charged me half a lb for a whole lb) — My turkey, pesto + goat cheese sandwich was tasty but wasn’t a huge fan of the bread they used Cons: –Over-priced. I was hoping it was cheaper than going to Bristol Farms or Whole foods(where it’s more flavorfull) –The fuss about my friend’s coupon Overall, we left feeling beautiful yet full. Hence the name Beautifull! No seriously, we left feeling full but not satisfied so we went to get crepes and depleted the whole purpose of eating healthy.

Trying to find a balance between healthy eating and yummy eating got a little easier for me. The polenta fries are piping hot and mimic the exact texture of McD fries(minus the salt and grease). All the entrees, salads and sandwiches satisfy vegans carnivores alike. Although I will say some of the dishes are hit or miss on certain days. The turkey meatballs have always done me good. The almond-chili dressing is so yummy, i need a bottle of it at home.

I really hate giving bad reviews. I really do. That said, after having to eat countless meals from this place(they cater lunches and dinners to my office), I just felt something had to be said so that perhaps someone out there would have the fortune of having their front office person see this and consider finding another caterer. Most of the food is bland and flavorless. Herbed chicken breasts were dry, stews all seem to end up with the same flavor profile, and turkey is almost used as a ground meat of choice for any place it could substitute for ground beef, chicken or pork. Also egregious are their healthy takes of comfort food classics, such as chicken parmigiana. Why they don’t oven fry the chicken is foreign to me, as the end result comes out as a giant stew or casserole that again tastes like every dish they make that involves tomato sauce. Even worse, for a place that is supposed to advocate healthy eating, the amount of oil found in their food is pretty alarming. For instance, the bread is almost soaked through with oil on their pesto chicken sandwiches, and most times, their stews and curries arrive at the office with a generous layer of oil atop the pan. As someone who understands the concept of healthy eating and has undergone significant weight loss over the past year, I know that eating well does not have to sacrifice taste, flavor, or the ability to enjoy food. This place, however, seems to embody the type of meals that make people detest any concept of changing the way they eat.

A relatively close healthy spot with good food to go? Doesn’t sound too shabby! Oh the possibilities of being able to eat the types of entrees that you may want, but in healthier versions to possibly shed the lbs? Sounds like a plan! Sadly though, I was not impressed at all. Maybe I just haven’t found the right things to get, or my taste buds are too acclimated towards the unhealthy stuff, but the food just didn’t really speak to me. Per the reviews of fellow Unilocalers, opted for the turkey meatball sandwich, and decided to add on an order of their garlic mashed potatoes to go with it. The meatball sandwich wasn’t bad — it was a little light but still had some decent flavor. It wasn’t what I had imagined texture wise, but that’s probably because it’s a healthier item. Despite not being what I had in mind, it was still pretty decent despite some flavors/seasonings that didn’t do much for me either. The polenta fries were definitely the highlight of the experience though. If you are a fan of polenta, you would certainly want this as your side. It’s relatively crispy, but not bogged down with oil like regular french fries. The first piece or two might require some adjustment mentally, but it’s almost like the real deal with ketchup. And apparently healthier to boot. The biggest strike against them though was the mashed potatoes. Now, I know the idea of mashed potatoes isn’t generally the healthiest since it’s a lot of starch and butter, but I really imagine they could have done a better job while still keeping it healthier than the average place. The consistency was really thin, nothing like the creamy or gloppy sort you would find. You could really taste what essentially felt like a grainy texture from the potatoes, and it was really wet looking in a way. Sadly, I didn’t even really feel like it tasted that good either. Maybe it was a bad batch, but I didn’t get much flavor of anything out of it. Either they need to season better, or perhaps they should look into changing the type of potatoes they use since that might help the flavor and texture, along with a better color(it was REALLY yellow). I know in general, we all need to eat healthier, and I appreciate the effort and concept they carry towards helping people to achieve that goal by providing a convenient place to get fed in a healthy sort of way. But I think they could probably tweak some things while still accomplishing their mission… for my taste buds at least. I’ll certainly give them another chance if I can find something good to go with the polenta fries, but for these prices, it would have to be something of significance. There are too many other restaurants around the area with healthier items on their menus, and there’s always Pluto’s up the street too.

We walked in straight to order from the chick behind the counter, She did not have any suggestions as to what to get she just stood there like a zombie, as we gave her our order she kept fidgeting back and forth while mumbling things like«thats not ready««oh its going to be difficult to do that» etc. Then she says«Im sorry im so out of it right now» at this point the other people waiting in line walk out . — We get our food– some of it is cold, some warm. My salmon tasted fishy and the snap peas asparagus and beets seemed as though they had been boiled and chilled cold. LAZY food is what i call it. — ALSO, they have FOODINC. and Michael Pollan books displayed everywhere and some writing on the walls saying something like all of our ingredients are free of hormones, etc. etc,. yet when I asked the chick what WAS organic she said, «oh the tomatos and blueberries.» Areyou kidding me!!! ALSO when we paid with coupons that we got at the grand opening they questioned us as to why we had them!!! I love the IDEA of an organic restaurant with their layout. But its just not there. Its another marketing scheme to make you thing your eating organic but in reality its, ALLPROCESSED.

There are many reasons to hate this place. The name evokes hatred, and to double the word«beautiful» is beyond hope. The sign(s) are large and obnoxious; the descriptions make you want to roll your eyes. Yes, I want to eat healthy, but I am in no hurry to develop an obsession. And not to mention, the prices are steep. Like more than Ferry Building steep. However, when all’s said and done, it’s about the food. And the food here is fantastic. I had the tea smoked salmon with asparagus and red quinoa with edamame. Wow. The flavors and texture and the good feeling after eating. I started to imagine myself being an image-conscious actress somewhere in the Hollywood hills having my personal chef prepare me something like this everyday. My «assets» are maintained, I walk confidently on the red carpet in a sheer tight dress, and my taste buds are actually pleased too. Now only if I had $ 14 to spare for every meal!

I was asked to place my lunch order from Beautifull several days ahead of time for a work meeting. Months ago this wouldn’t have been an issue, but when you’re pregnant chances are whatever looks good on one day isn’t going to look good on another day. And apparently when I placed my order I thought it would be a great idea to order chicken curry. I do occasionally like chicken curry, but the chicken curry here is pretty nasty. As usual, I was starving so I tried to eat as much as I could, but it really just didn’t taste very good. And apparently Baby R wasn’t a fan either because I had an awful stomach ache soon after lunch. I emailed my husband to remind me that the baby does NOT like curry in case I have any future pregnancy brain issues. I’d give Beautifull another chance, but next time I’m going the salad/sandwich route.

I love the concept. The place is clean, fresh, neat and bright. They offer healthy alternatives to «fast» ready made food. Their food comes from organic, hormone free, quality sources. I liked what I was seeing on their menus… hot and cold sandwiches, curries over rice or quinoa, cold deli salads, or plates with a selection of protein, veggies and sides. I tried the Moroccan chicken tagine over quinoa, with water. It seemed like a better option when I wasn’t super hungry and didn’t want to pick out all those food for their full plates. The bill, though, catches me somewhat off guard. $ 14.32 for that? I check my receipt. Apparently their«bowl rice moroccan chicken» is $ 11.99. That with $.99 water, CRV and tax. I guess it’s my fault for not checking beforehand, but I was somehow under the impression that a bowl of rice/quinoa with curry was around the same price range as sandwiches in terms of how casual they are and how easy it is to prepare. I guess that’s not the case here. Well, as for the taste… I like the quinoa option. They also put olives, raisins and some greens on top of the tagine, which was a nice touch. the tagine itself was pretty good too, very tomato-y, and some yummy slices of mushroom, onions and chicken… however occasionally I bit into something extremely strong/herby/spicey that I wasn’t too sure what it was but was a bit much. I think maybe it was a whole seed of cardamom or something? Anyway, after hitting a few of those I started to find this dish a bit overpowering… I might want to try their plate some time… especially if I had known that they were cheaper than the curry-bowl! But then again with my favorite Vietnamese restaurant, Perilla, so near by, it may be a while until I decide to come back here again.

I just had a lovely late lunch here. The staff was SO friendly, that a lone was most impressive. They have a «new» salad bar and I must say it was so fresh and CLEAN. I opted for the Salad bar over the other choices, which I will definitely be going back for. The salad was GREAT, I like being able to put my own items onto a salad and mix my greens. I took ½ a star off because they need a few more choices in dressing(although I did very much love the Almond Vinaigrette) and another ½ star because the case the holds the juices located by the register was a little warm, my drink was not cold. Yes, I WILL be back!

It pains me to do this. It truly does. I wanted to loooove this place. I got a $ 5 off coupon and waited until the perfect time to try it out for lunch. I love fresh, organic, healthy foods without having to cook them, so I was stoked to hit up Beautifull. *sad trombone* It was really a disappointing experience. We were greeted by a very helpful, friendly young man who explained how to order. There are pre-made salads and casseroles and curries and more on a hot bar, and you can order them separately or pick a combo meal. The menu is pretty big and overwhelming. And the items under the heat lamp looked unappetizing with a little«skin» on them from being uncovered. I opted for the tofu and veggie asian spice bowl, but they left out the spice. And the flavor. I know the broth was low-fat, but I expected some seasonings of some kind. Such a disappointment I ate less than half then moved on to a whole grain chocolate chip walnut cookie because I was still hungry. It was underwhelming to say the least. No chips to speak of, just ground chocolate dust. The cookie was flat tasting with a too-crumbly texture. And getting the cookie was a chore, because the woman behind the counter(a manager I think), was too busy talking to her employee in a flustered manner that was very unsettling. I just wanted a cookie, but had to roam around looking at the water selections while she conversed. They gave me a $ 3 off coupon to come back again, and maybe I will – and try something totally different. But I won’t go out of my way. Sad face.

I never thought I would eat here because I thought the name was weird. Beautifull with two L’s? Weird. But A dropped in the night before and was raving about the salads, so we went the next night to pick up some food to go. We wanted something good and healthy, which is totally Beautifull! We got grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, polenta fries, a pesto turkey sandwich, and a goji muffin. We also had a pre-made salad he had bought the day before which had salmon and quinoa in it. It’s not the cheapest place, but it’s very healthy. I’d go back! It doesn’t look friendly enough to sit down and eat there, but as a to-go place, it’s pretty good.

The two things that Beautifull really delivers on are 1) fresh, quality, nutritious ingredients and 2) a friendly staff. I wish I could include great tasting food among that short list, but I can’t. After being handed a brochure from my friend and fellow Unilocaler, Sara A and reading some excerpts touting the«humanely raised ingredients, free of hormones, steroids and antibiotics» and«sustainably raised ingredients from local farms» I decided maybe a visit to this restaurant would be a great chance to try something healthy and delicious for a change. The staff was super friendly sporting huge smiles on their faces. Since I had already studied the brochure I knew exactly what I wanted to try. The Herb Roasted Turkey Sandwich with Pesto and Provolone comes prepared on artisan whole grain bread with a side of coleslaw. Considering that this was only a sandwich the wait time for my food to be prepared was surprisingly lengthy. You pay at the counter, and your food is brought to the same counter where you must stand nearby to pick up your food since they don’t announce names or numbers. I felt worse for my friend who ordered a tofu salad. They must have had to wait for the coagulants in the tofu to set because the wait was mind numbing for what I thought was a pre-made salad. My friend is cool though; her quick glances and an occasional bite of her lip and a smile told me she didn’t mind the wait as much as I did. The brochure does go on to tout their food as «incredibly tasty». Compared to what I’m not sure but that claim is debatable. Considering all the fresh ingredients that went into the making of my sandwich( ) I was quite surprised with its lack of taste. Any taste. The incredibly thin layer of pesto was lost within the fresh salad greens, and the herb roasted turkey was not only void of flavor, but it was chokingly dry. Thank goodness I had a bottle of Izze to wash it all down with. I did like the bread though which had lots of chopped nuts, whole grains and seeds. The accompanying coleslaw was excellent. Yes, THAT was incredibly tasty with green and red cabbages, red bell peppers, carrots and other crunchy vegetables in a delightful purple colored dressing. My friend said her salad was only«okay», but she did finish it probably because neither of us likes to waste food. I like their concept and the type of foods they are trying to promote. I just wish I had a better tasting sandwich. Prices are more so on the high side, but I kind of expect that considering the choice ingredients used. I may or may not be back, but I wish them well.

Man-o-man! I need to take out a second mortgage on my home to eat at this place! Yes, the food is fresh, organic, healthy and delicious. I’m especially fond of the curry bowls with the brown rice and their mac and cheese. Last trip to Beautifull for a curry bowl, small side of mac and cheese and a drink, I dropped close to $ 20. After I ate there I was full, but my wallet was decidedly empty =(

Turkey triple play: — Excellent turkey burger — Good to the last bite turkey meatloaf — Bursting with flavor turkey meatballs. I couldn’t decide. So I didn’t. One of each please. Cheap at $ 10 for the trio? No. But enough for a few meals and an unprecedented run of turkey goodness. Non-turkey wonders include absolutely fantastic Straus nonfat frozen yogurt(don’t choose between berry and vanilla — go for the swirl), and a massive, in both size and taste, peanut butter cookie. Friendly service to go along with all the good eats. I’m a huge, huge fan.

Very intriguing concept… especially because of the following: 1) It’s basically your bakery/deli/fixin’s of a Whole Foods, Andronico’s, etc. Anything from salads and sides, to sandwiches and comfort plates of food, including comfort from all walks of life… curries, etc. It feels sort of like an automat, or cafeteria line up, without any real seating. A couple tables in the back and a couple up front… but I assume it will end up really busy… go early for lunch. 2) the owners donated about $ 10K to the hospital, intelligently and thoughtfully ingratiating themselves to the community even prior to opening. Within one second, they have become a giving, important part of the inner sunset. Wise move. 3) It fills the gap of a healthy veggie option since Gratitude closed, but in a much more accessible, non cult like, way. There are other options like Good Earth, but this place is REALLY polished and looks«chain-y» but not in that thumb your nose type way. 4) This place, amazingly, will actually draw business from Andronico’s, Pluto’s, Good Earth, and possibly a few more spots like Toasties, etc. 5) Seems like an interesting addition that will be around for a bit. Part of that is how they opened, part is their location… but most of it is their AWESOME, happy, attractive, nice staff… and the food is REALLY, REALLY good. so there.

Their Ginger Blueberry muffin is up there as being one the best muffins in the Inner Sunset(and yes I used to be an Arizmendi regular when it came to muffins — see my review for them). It’s made with fresh organic ingredients. No processed white sugar etc. The blueberries are big and moist. I ended up eating two in a matter of minutes. Beautiful is open from 10am-10pm and all of their staff are friendly and helpful. Their package salads, sandwiches and things — were a little bit pricey — and didn’t necessarily seduce — me the way that Good Earth does — but it’s exciting to know that they’re made with care and fresh ingredients. Also — they serve up TCHO hot chocolate(yes — you read that right) — and have a heated patio. Massive scores. While I was here today — their kitchen staff were perfecting pizzas, and meatball dishes in a big baking oven. Everything that came out of the oven — looked and smelled incredible. I still prefer the prices and frozen yogurt over at Good Earth — but I can already tell that I’m going to be visiting Beautifull more often. Their muffins have already seduced me. That’s What’s Up. Trust.
