I have to choose star otherwise it won’t let me post. Temporary closed. Look like remodeling.

The service in here can be hit and miss. Ordered a BLT with avocado. Showed up without avocado. When I asked the guy, who looked pretty spaced out, he just said oh we’re out of avocado. Yup, no other explanation. Well maybe you shouldn’t charge a guy for something you don’t have. not the first time issues here

This has become one of my favorite coffeeshops. I live in the Castro District, so Bean There is a nice walk away from home. Upon walking through the doors, I like having to walk past all the seating areas before getting to the cashier. It gives me time to absorb the atmosphere, scope out a place to work, and think about what I want to order. I got a latte and asked for a snack recommendation. The barista suggested the morning glory cake. Oh hayyy. I’m down for that. I parked myself at one of the many small round tables. I love how spaced out the tables are… and how high the ceiling is. Makes me feel less claustrophobic. There are not really any outlets, which makes this a good place for reading or expending a fully charged laptop. The cake was really good. It tasted super healthy and was filling. Apparently they have bagels and sandwiches too. I’ll have to come back for those!

A really great coffee shop to study at! Only complaint was that the tables are a little small, but if you’re there with a charged laptop, it’s an ideal place to work. I ordered a cappuccino and it was just the perfect amount of milky, foamy and strong. I’ll be back!

Solid neighborhood spot to grab coffee on the go, or linger a bit more over a decently-priced, well-portioned sandwich. There’s plenty of seating both inside and outside, with extension cords galore if you need to camp out and work for a few hours. Fits the Unilocal definition of «A-OK» perfectly.

Despite there only being one other person ahead of me in line it took 5 minutes to get a drip coffee, seemed disorganized and baristas were unenthused and not helpful. I came on another occasion for a latte which was passable. It’s a good place to hang out and work and the other patrons are seem friendly, keep to themselves and aren’t obnoxious. Food and pastries were mediocre. If you’re in the neighborhood, need a place to work and in a pinch for coffee and sustenance, this will do just fine.

SO grateful for this cute as heck and wonderfully friendly joint. Now the husband has a place to go and work, and I don’t have to feed him breakfast or lunch anymore! Keep feeding my man! Kudos and gratitude to Richard and Casey who are beyond wonderful sages and servers. Dang great place! Love your chicken pesto sandwich!

Very nice neighborhood place. Wish I had someplace like this where I lived. I’d be there every weekend morning. Good for quick breakfast bite and coffee. I got a bagel so nothing special to note. Folks were kind.

I really want to like this neighborhood coffee shop because I work in the area, but after 3 years of trying and no improvement, I’m over it. 4 out of every 5 drinks I have ordered have been disappointing, and I’ve tried tons. Latte, iced coffee, drip, chai, hot chocolate, cappuccino… It’s such a bummer. The price point also seems a little high considering the quality. A coffee and a little something to eat always ends up being $ 10+. There seems to be an ultra fast turn over rate. There’s always a new employee working there, fumbling with the register, needing help from the barista on how to ring anything up. There’s also always a bunch of people lingering around the front waiting, making it confusing to know when to order or where the line is. This place would really benefit from a little direction and some consistency.

I was attracted by the name. I thought it was clever. My capuchins was OK. The service was OK. My wife’s tea was very nice. The service fine. The whole experience was just OK. It lacked the artistic flair and quirky touches I had hoped for given the area.

I had walked past this place a dozen of times every Saturday morning, but finally came in today. Was surprised how big it actually is on the inside. It was relatively quiet for what looks like would be a legit sit-down-all-day-with-your-Macbook kind of place. It has a good-sized menu of food and drinks. I ordered a BLT, cinnamon nut scone, and iced latte. No complains about anything. The scone was actually really tasty. Everything was prepped relatively quickly and relatively«cheap»(for SF) too. It’s in a sweet spot of Lower Haight, and has a good amount of outdoor seating to enjoy the sun while you eat.

I stopped here to pick up a latte and a cup of tea. Both were decent but not spectacular. In a time when coffee shops are a dime a dozen and giant corporate chains are available every few blocks(at most), you have to really offer something to set yourself apart. Do you want to be known for the spectacular quality and flavor of your brews like Blue Bottle? Your bohemian ambiance and fun crowd like Philz? Your consistency, convenience, and rewards like Starbucks? What about your comfortable seats, fast wi-fi, friendly service, or free refills? Bean There is a cute neighborhood spot, but it doesn’t really seem to set itself apart in as significant enough a manner from all the rest to lure me back. I’d still much rather go out of my way to find a Blue Bottle.

I really enjoyed being in this part of town. I caught Bean There on a beautiful sunny day. The staff was friendly and showed me the variety of green teas they offered. I must say they have a vast collection that will prompt me to come back and try a few more. I opted for an orange blossom green tea, which I enjoyed in house. The tea pot could cater up to three cupfuls, and I had enough to take home! The barista was kind enough to add some hot water to my to-go cup. Overall, the atmosphere of this coffee shop is great. Everyone is hard at work, or catching up with friends over lunch. It’s a nice place to kick start your day.

Lovely little café with a punny name. I enjoy cafes that serve me tea in teapots, because that means they know I’m probably going to want more than one cup of tea(though I’m sure the tea pots are the same size as, say, a medium in any other to-go place). Have a look at their wall of teas — they all smell lovely and one day I’d like to try them all! The servers are really friendly, and the pastries are quite nice. And damn it all they’re really good at convincing you that the pastries are quite nice… know that they are not lying. The almond croissant was tasty. And so was the morning bun. You see a lot of interesting folks come in, too. Of course, an establishment has no control over the clientele that comes in, so I wouldn’t have expected them to do anything about the old woman who kept saying my boyfriend looked like her son and how she couldn’t understand why I was with him since I was so quiet… but it’s all good, because apparently when I smile I «come alive». Thanks, lady. You only get that sort of interaction in these neighborhood cafes, and that’s because people like to sit down and have a rest with their tea instead of rushing around from meeting to meeting.

Tldr– great neighborhood coffee shop with plenty of outlets and wifi and a variety of food options that are friendly for vegetarians and non vegetarians alike! They’ve been in business for 20 yrs so they’re doing something right! I spend a lot of time in coffee shops and choice of coffee shops is pretty much dictated by a) access to wifi — so far the wifi has been zippy and reliable. Just ask for password b) outlets — I’m plugged in and I didn’t have to strategically place myself nor fight with anyone to have access to power c) coffee — haven’t tried it yet, but I did get a Thai iced tea, which was an awesome treat to get not at a Thai restaurant! d) food — haven’t tried it yet BUT they do have a full menu ranging from bagels to pastries to breakfast sandwiches to burritos to empanadas to sandwiches. PLENTY of veg options too! I know I know I am one of those people that camp out all day and thus decrease profit margins bc I don’t allow the table to turn quickly. I am sorry! I gotta get out of the house sometimes, you know! I just realized my stomach is growling so I am prob going to order lunch.

Lots of people working here on their laptops(including me)! — good tea selection — convenient location(close to Divisadero main street) but quiet side street — outdoor seating is great when weather is good — reliable, fast, free wifi For a laptop camper like I am, there is nothing I can complain about!

Standard issue coffee shop. We ended up here after not finding open outdoor seating at the surrounding cafes. My bagel with veggies and cream cheese was fine. My friend’s breakfast bagel sandwich looked really unappetizing and she struggled to finish it(the eggs whites were still gelatinous and obviously not fully cooked). The baked goods looked mass produced. Some pros: comfortable space and friendly staff.

Bean there is a fab neighborhood place which doesn’t mean a lot to me since i’m just a grab and go past go guy(4 stars if i lived in the hood). nice laid back ambience. here. menu: sammies, pastries, teas, expresso. brew:(m, coffee, 2.15) –mr expresso coffee, extra bold, not so smooth –nice to keep one awake but not relaxed. drips: –friendly service, passed on pastries since i’m not into pastry.
