It would be nice if they had a fax machine to place large orders. Food is descent there if your want breakfast.

The employees here should learn some basic hygiene habits, I noticed employees not washing their hands at all the whole time I was there as they wrote down orders, picked up bread and put it in the plates, picked up different things around the counter and served customers. I was quite grossed out and very surprised that nobody seemed to care. If you go to this place, take the time to notice this, and you will see for yourself what I’m talking about. I actually work in the food industry, and I’ve seen chefs and other people in the kitchen be just as dirty, so this must be a common thing that is accepted as normal, but I still don’t think this is okay. The food was okay, but I definitely will not be back here again.

Had their specials on the board, nopales with rice and beans. Not good. So bland, couldn’t recognize the nopales. Hubby had the salmon breakfast special. even worst. Salmon was tough, dry and over cooked. Never coming back!

This is always a breakfast spots whenever I’m in SF. It’s small and the people are always welcoming. Service and food is great. Another plus is that it is off the freeway so it’s perfect for my friends and I that are driving from out of town. Check this place out, nothing fancy but the food/portions do not disappoint

I’d love to review the food and tell you it’s crap, but I never actually had the opportunity to try any. Called in an order on a Saturday morning 45 minutes ahead of time. Told me my order would be waiting for pickup. Cut to the restaurant 45 mins later, and no food. Thats fine, i have a bit of time on my break to wait. Coworker and i waited there 15 minutes, when he got his food. Cook told me that mine, the order called in an over an hour ago at this point, would be another 10 minutes if i’d like to wait. Absolutely unacceptable service. Owner unsympathetic. Avoid this place like HIV.

This place could not be more perfect for a informal breakfast of awesome diner standbys. I was guided here by Unilocal and turned off the freeway to have some breakfast with some email, and was not disappointed. The Bayside omelette with hotlinks was amazing. I would totally come here again, the staff is very nice, and the customers are all extremely friendly because everyone is so happy to be eating delicious diner food!

This is my favorite diner to go to on weekends! I live about 5 min away so it’s a no-brainer when Bayside is brought up in our top 3 choices for breakfast/lunch. I’ve been a regular for the past 3 years and have my usual plate, huevos con chorizo with a pancake on the side, every time(never disappoints). The huevos con chorizo come with rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, and salsa. Authenticity is so important to me when ordering these type of plates. The pancakes are EVERYTHING! Not too thick, just perfectly mixed. Their menu has many options that make it hard not to like this place; everything from chilaquiles and huevos rancheros, to club sandwiches, and salads. They offer a little bit of everything. The service is impeccably fast and always attentive. I will continue to be a regular for, like EVER!

Nothing too fancy about this place. I would say it’s your average diner with typical diner food. I ordered a side salad and the lettuce was white, tomatoes were yellowish, but my sandwich was OK. Not bad but not great.

My friend brought me here on a stay in SF and I have to say that it was good. It does have parking for sure outside and their food is fantastic. It is a great place to go in Vis Valley and the neighborhoods around there. It is more of a hole in the wall place around there but they are usually the best around.

Although they open at 5 am, there is no sit-down menu food served until lunchtime. Until then, the only food items are coffee’s, and carbs from the deli case geared towards«to go» customers. Full breakfast is only served weekends after 8 am.

First time here and this place is going to be a regular spot. Friendly people, good coffee, ok food and a great vibe. It’s a bit greasy and the veggies in the omelette weren’t cooked through.

My husband and I ordered breakfast. I had«Huavos Rancheros» — My eggs needed salt, the ranchero sauce should have been warm when poured on top of the eggs.(Traditionally you pour the sauce while the eggs are still in the pan), but they decided to pour the cold sauce on top of my warm eggs. The guacamole that comes with it, is extremely salty. The beans were bland and the rice was so-so. He had the«Seafood Omelette» — eggs needed more salt, the hashbrowns were dried, the seafood inside the omelette was actually tasty. This is one of those places where the food actually looked good, but was not. The 1-star obviously only applies to the dishes we had. Perhaps some of their other dishes are good but I’m not sure. The taste left from the breakfast makes us not want to go back.

Right off the 101! Came here for a quick breakfast, and ended up with a very pleasant experience. To start, waitstaff are all very friendly and very attentive. The view(if you sit outside) is beautiful and under a covered deck, so you have nothing to worry about. The food is great and well portioned and they have a variety of freshly squeezed juices. If you haven’t been by, give it a try.

Bayside has been a go to restaurant for years. I’ve tried a bunch of items on the menu including the garlic omelette which is delicious. What keeps me coming back in the French toast. It’s the best French toast in the city. I hate custard French toast that is wet in the middle. I’d rather have lightly dipped. Get the French toast with a side of bacon and make your morning or afternoon(they serve breakfast all day) a happy one.

More like 2.5 stars. Went here for a lunch get-together with a good friend. The décor harmonized with the food in mediocrity. I chose the spicy pepper cheeseburger and was pleasantly surprised that fresh jalapeño and serrano peppers smothered the unexpectedly juicy patty. Given that the fries were noticeably frozen product, I reckoned the peppers would contest with the cheap product of the rest of my surroundings(yes, the décor and the food). But this is where the positive aspect of my experience concludes as the bun was cheap, the produce was low-quality(presumably Costco-type product) and the service barely passed. Overall, I wouldn’t mind returning to the Bayside Café as the patty was flawlessly prepared and the peppers were fresh and flavorful. Though I certainly would not go out of my way for it.

Had brunch here for the first time. It was a small diner but pretty packed. We ordered a belgian waffle with fruit and whip cream, seafood omelette, and cornbeef hash and eggs. The service was good… Everyone that helped us was really friendly and the food came out quick. The food was good but wasn’t worth the price. Our total bill came up to $ 41. Overall, the service was great but if your looking for good and cheap breakfast this is not the place to go.

Arguably the best breakfast spot in Visitacion Valley. Not great but good. I been a handful of times now and haven’t been disappointed. Today, I tried the Hamburger steak and eggs. It was really good. The hamburger steak had a lot of flavor but it was cooked too much for my taste. Service is friendly. Would recommend.

I came here for a brunch with a friend that lives nearby and is a regular. This is a pretty simple breakfast diner and there’s really nothing super fancy. I had the hash benedict and it was super delicious. I’ve had a fair number of hash benedicts in my time and I have to say that Bayside does it well. Bonus is the grilled? banana that comes with it. It absolutely makes the dish and was a very, very pleasant surprise. All in all, Bayside is a solid, solid breakfast spot. Service is fine and the food is exactly what you want out of a hearty breakfast. This has made my list of great local breakfast spots and will be back again.

The service is always friendly but the food is average.. . Sometimes below average. We have only been for breakfast a few times, before the fire and since they reopened. In terms of the breakfast items, the corned beef is the canned stuff(sometimes caramelized, sometimes not), eggs are usually never cooked right, hash browns suffering the same treatment fate as the corned beef hash, pancakes are standard with a sometimes suspect banana topping, French toast very homemade, and the coffee is acidic. We come back to support this local place but the food is usually disappointing.. . And on top of that, I really hate seeing the waitresses handle cash then move on to grab bread with unwashed hands to place in the toaster then go back to handle more cash or wipe a table then finally return to grab the readied toast.. .with their unwashed hands. I know it is a small joint with a small staff but the lack of cleanliness was the last straw for our last and ultimate visit.

The worst in the bay area! I mean crappy service and waited over 10 min jus to get my coffee! Then waited over 30 – 40 min for my food !!! But what was crappy about it was they brought my food 1 by 1. first the pancakes then the bread then the combo I order !! This was the worst! Not only that but the hash browns were burnt so crispy burnt & the corn beef hash was salty & the eggs were dry!!! Not to mention it is at least 2 hours after eating there & I have the worst stomach Ache and that was the only meal I ate so far!!! Never Again! Very disappointed in this place being I am from San Francisco! Dont Go here!

For two straight days, all I wanted were fluffy haystacks aka pancakes. I’m not even a breakfast/brunch person much less a pancake person but all I know was I wanted pancakes. I envisioned smearing soft butter on that perfectly browned surface, watching it melt into the nooks and crannies, before lacquering it with a blanket of sweet mapley goodness, and watching it dribble down the corners like a cascading waterfall. *Heart eyes emoji* So I wake him up on Sunday and said, «I want pancakes!» «Since when do you eat pancakes?», he asked. «Uhhh since now…», I sarcastically replied. Fellas, if you know what’s good for you, don’t ever question a girl’s craving. We arrive at Bayside Café at 1 pm on a Sunday to no wait. We were seated at one of the dated booths more apt for Nicki Minaj’s silicone bubble butt. I haven’t been to Bayside Café since I was in high school but it’s your typical greasy spoon that serves breakfast all day. They also have a small Mexican food section with burritos, tacos, and quesadillas. There was no need to peruse the menu. I knew what I wanted. Waitress: «What can I get you guys?» Mr. NSS: «I’ll get the Fish & Chips». Waitress: «And, for you miss?». Me: «I’ll take the Bacon Avocado Burger». Mr. NSS: «For the past two days you’ve been whining about pancakes and YOU order a burger?» Me: «Yah, and?» Mr. NSS *shakes his head*: «Women.» Well, If there’s one thing that Bayside Café did well was overcooked our order. My Bacon Avocado Burger($ 11) was slaughtered twice. One at the farm and a second time on the grill(saw the cook pressing down on the patty numerous times). Definitely not a happy cow from California. The patty was incredibly dry, dry, and dry. The quality was more in line with a $ 7 – 8 burger and not a $ 11 one: . Fries were limp in the middle. Do NOT order the Fish & Chips. It’s unbattered frozen fish fillets thrown in the pool of old oil. It was overcooked, dry, and barely edible. They would have fared better using Gorton’s Fisherman fish sticks. The waitress was nice enough to allow him, to exchange it for a burger. Food was 2 stars but an extra star for the very hardworking and efficient staff. The older gentleman handled the grill like boss and had 5 things simultaneously cooking. You know what sounds really good right now? Fluffy haystacks…

This place is literally only a short walk up the hill from my house. So very convenient. The place feels very open because of all the windows, which is great. And the staff is absolutely the nicest. The food is slightly better than most places and it’s relatively cheap with lots of food. Can’t beat that! And it’s a quiet spot.
