Walking down Eddy St searching for a coffee shop to sit at for a few moments I came across Barbary Coast. There a few customers sitting in with coffee and breakfast sandwiches so I grabbed a skinny latte and an old fashion donut. The donut was good enough and I figured it was simply brought in from a bakery or big box store. The skinny latte on the other hand not so good. I would say average for lattes but given my experience with shops like Beanstalk just a few blocks away, I would say this is one to skip and find a better café.

‘Barbary Coast’ café is across the street from Bart. A nice place to go grab-&-go especially in the morning. The pastry isn’t that bad, but in my perspective it’s kind of too sweet. In additional, the customer service is decent at the time being when I went there. Nothing really too fancy, just a nice 10min break if you are nearby this area.

This place has a $ 5 cc minimum, and would not take my card. If I didn’t order anything else. Get with times!

This place is so convenient for people who works downtown and gets off at Powell Station. It is a place for grab and go. They would get busy at times but they’re really fast and really nice people. Price is cheap, good service, and decent coffee. I come here from time to time. If I’m craving for donuts then I’ll stop by and buy one or if I’m craving bagel then I’ll stop by and get one. Again, it’s so convenient and fast service. I would recommend this place to anyone. it’s not a fancy café but decent for most people that works downtown, particularly around that area.

Went to the Barbary Coast this morning on our way out of town. The woman in front of us received the wrong order… OURORDER! After handling it for a good, 4 minutes she brings it back to the woman behind the counter. After a few more minutes the woman behind the counter tried to hand it to me! Mind you, I saw all of this take place. I called her on it, and asked her if that was what that woman just handed back. The woman behind the counter proceeds to get snippy, and tell me she didn’t touch it, as if I should just happily eat what a stranger had her mitts all over. Don’t go here!!!

They were out of maple bars & were rude when we asked for mustard on the side and said no. They weren’t letting me and my friend live. Their lettuce on my sandwich is also brown. Cool.

Ah! También preparan bagels.

Barbary Coast is a very convenient place to get breakfast on the way to the BART. I’m new to town and I was staying around the Powell Station. At the time I was somewhat late for an appointment in Richmond, and only had a short amount of time to get food. My first instinct was to go on to Unilocal, but before I start the search a homeless man told me if I’m looking for food to go there(as he points to Barbary Coast). I dont think he was advertising for anyone, but merely trying to help out someone who seems lost. The store seemed like a small hole in the wall with a few tables. People crowded around the cashier and I couldnt tell if there was even a line. Eventually, one of the employees ask if I would like something. Thank goodness because if she didn’t I felt like I would have to cut someone to get my order in. I got a #1 and replaced the toast with bagel(#1 was avocado, tomato, and eggs sandwich). It was pretty good, not the best but good enough for a quick morning meal. Overall, I would come back to this resturant if I wanted a quick breakfast. The main advantage they have is their convenience.

loved my iced mocha and iced latte including our bran muffin It was empty when we went inside but that was a plus for us. Crowded coffee shops are always a hassle. They had an assortment of donuts and coffee :)

The Bravette Steak Fries was really good. The beef was tender and the marrow based sauce complements the meat well. The fries were good too, not too dry nor too oily. This restaurant looks expensive but very competitively priced. I would recommend this place if you are in Union Square and looking for an elegant place for lunch without poking a hole in your Armani jeans.

Whenever I’m around Powell station I always manage to find my way here. They previously closed for remodeling and it’s a good thing they did because their use of space is so much better now. In the mornings you get the rush from the nearby hotels and cops that might be driving by(there are always two cop cars parked outside of it), and in the afternoon it’s nice and quiet. Service has been consistently good and fast! Prices are very reasonable, and it doesn’t hurt they boast a 98 health score.

Since this coffee place is literally below our hotel, it was the first place I stopped to get coffee in San Francisco. I was pleasantly surprised to see they used Peerless coffee(as I’m a fan), so it was easy for me to choose to come back here every day. The filter coffee is fine. Better than most other places I went to in San Francisco unfortunately. Food-wise I only had an apple fritter one day. And it was nice, but not amazing. At least it wasn’t really greasy as they can be sometimes. I’m adding an extra star for the staff. They’re a bit surly, but given the ridiculous requests customers came in for the few days I stopped in for coffee, I can understand why. Someone said they were allergic to American cheese after their cheese and egg sandwich was made and made them re-do it for swiss. I mean I suppose someone could be allergic, but if you really were, you think it wouldn’t be an afterthought but a forethought. Another person ordered two muffins to go and wanted cream cheese on the side for them. They don’t have small, portable cream cheese packets, and he basically threw a fit when they told him no. Why does someone need cream cheese for blueberry muffins anyway?

This shop is super cheap, particularly for a bakery inside the city. They’re also relatively quick, even when I went in one morning where there was wall-to-wall people in there. The food and beverages are –okay-. They’re not the best I’ve ever had at all, some of it’s even slightly bland, but I give them 4 stars simply because it’s so quick and cheap. Even if it’s not the best food/drink you’ve ever had, you won’t feel ripped off. Just don’t expect gourmet — if you’re looking for that, this is the wrong place. If you’re nearby and need a quick and/or cheap breakfast, this is a great spot to go. There is a Starbucks just up the block but it’s so stinkin’ busy, you’ll be waiting for a long time. So while this bakery isn’t one that I look forward to visiting, it gets the job done — quick and cheap breakfast.

What a pleasant surprise. We stayed at the parc 55 and needed a quick bite. Wow – who knew this was such a city gem! The ham and cheese croissants are to die for, and the almond croissant has such a good filling we wish we had gotten 2! Donuts are fresh and yummy. Don’t let this place fool you – its a SF must have!

I waited for three minutes before the cashier came up to help me(I was the only one in line). This was our interaction. Me: Can I get a small mocha with skim milk? Cashier: What size? Me: Small. Cashier: Huh? Me: Small! Cashier: Americano? Me: No, mocha! Cashier: Oh, mocha. Ok. Three minutes later, she hands me a cup. It’s a small mocha with whole milk. (Exeunt.)

Good hot coffee… great selection of pastries… FANTASTIC place to people watch… I live just down the street… have been going there several times a week for EIGHTYEARS… always tip 25% for counter service… and they STILL have no clue who I am. When I go to the Happy Donut a few blocks away on Ellis Street, I’m greeted with a genuine smile by someone who even remembers what I like to order… and it’s cheaper. They won’t miss my business. They’re located next to the Wyndham Hotel, and are busy all the time. But I won’t miss them either.

Last two times in San Francisco I stayed at Parc 55. This place is within spitting distance and does a good enough latte and food. Prices are good and service has always been prompt and polite. A few reviewers said ‘cash only’ but I’ve used credit and debit cards here since 2010 without issue.

The BEST spot for fast breakfast bagels before you hit the streets of Union Square and shop til you drop! Pretty cheap too. This is one of my regular spots when in San Fran and it never disappoints. I also grab donuts from here in the afternoon for a quick sugar rush. Don’t expect anything fancy here. Just good old coffee, tea, and pastries!

Stopped by for coffee and a pastry one evening, and then coffee and cereal the next morning. Low price and location are the main attractions. FOOD: 2.0. Middling food, and below average coffee. AMBIANCE: 2.5. SERVICE: 4.0. She kindly pointed out that though it looked like an éclaire, it had no filling, and suggested another pastry that had crème filling.

So as far as the treats goes super good! Got a maple doughnut and it was soft and had great flavor. The giant cookies was soft and yummy with a good amount if chocolate chips! They have a good amount of treats, drinks and food options. My one complaint is who ever helped us wasn’t very helpful. I wanted to know what kind of doughnuts they had, she seemed annoyed and listed of a few flavors. When i said maple she replied with out of maple, but said had maple???(not sure what she meant) so I just pointed to one. The guy behind us asked her a question about one too and she just replied with here or to go. So food good but service not!
