My friends and I went here to check out the Warriors vs Cavs game after watching a movie across the street. I thought it was an okay bar. Ordered Moscow Mule and a $ 5 Margarita from the happy hour and thought that the drinks were average. Lots of alcohol though! The band playing live was doing a lot of testing and I felt like it disrupted the whole experience since everyone came in to watch the game.

I recently just had my birthday brunch here this pass Sunday! This place was absolutely amazing. All 10 of us were first timers and we stop group messaging how much fun we had here! They sat us right next to the stage so it was impossible to miss any of the action from the amazing and beautifully talented girls. The buffet was the perfect cure to all of our hangovers! Bottom line this place was awesome and next time I’m stack of dollar bills to make it rain! Thanks ladies!

Can I give negative stars? The people running this place are complete morons who have NOIDEAWHATTHEY’REDOING!!! Figure out how to take and KEEP reservations. No wonder I’ve never heard of ANYONE ever eating here. It’s because it’s a scam business that doesn’t give a crap about quality food or service. Stay far far FAAAAAAR away from this shit shack. Even the drag queens have to beg for tips, cause this place doesn’t pay it workers enough.

If you’re trying to have a wonderful Sunday Brunch perfect place to come to! The Drag Show is so much fun! The food is okay but the ambiance that the owners and the staff brings is wonderful!

Atmosphere was great and friendly. First time here and had a blast! Hostess was fun and energetic, and get the mimosas and French toast. I suggest make reservations if you plan to come and street parking may be a bit difficult but you will surely have a good time.

This review is specifically for Salsa dancing«Salsaholic Thursday» night & bar service. You can’t miss this spot right smack on Mission across from the green florescent sign«new mission» of what I believe is a movie theater. Walking in met a friendly bouncer who later turned out to participate in social dance, that was a first. Cover was $ 12, and walking in saw a salsa lesson in session, seemed it was a basic level class. The place has hard wood floors and the space could accommodate ~ dozen couples dancing, with overflow to the back. DJ was spinning real good salsa tunes! Didn’t hear my fav Aguanele, but perhaps I should have asked. The dancers were multiple levels and the crowd was friendly, except for one guy that I have to call out. If you see a bald chubby guy, with goatee and glasses, give him some floor space, cuz he thinks he owns the dance floor. Lol. smh Beverages at the bar were $ 10, the food menu had tamales and I thought the restaurant’s name was French, but go figure. There was a Zouk performance ~ 11, was cool and entertaining! Good floors, good music, dancing on 1, good crowd, first visit I give 3.75 stars. See y’all on the dance floor! Viva la Salsa!

I like the karaōke here. I remember bringing a hat and really rocking out to love gravy one night here. The brunch is really good too. It left a great taste in my mouth for hours after eating it. They have tango lessons here too, they’re only 10 bucks but I think there’s a certain time when its free also. The drinks are really good here too. I wouldn’t bother with reservations here tho.

I really really wish I didn’t have to give this place 1star went here about a year ago and it was the most amazing brunch ever! Fast forward to last weekend it was the WORST. Brunch ever. 1. Horrible service took almost 3 hours to get our food… I wish this was a lie. And when it did finally arrive it was cold… And awful. I ordered a 17 $ scramble… I’ve had better at Denny’s The only thing that keep me from flipping over the table was marcel he was the only person that wanted to make the situation better. Stay away from this place if you are looking for a decent brunch

The entertainment is amazing however our reservation was at 11:30; we ordered our food at 12:00 and didn’t get our food until 1:30. Their excuse was that it’s brunch and it’s busy but we were one of the first and only people there. If you’d like to eat brunch in a timely manner do not come here.

I would recommend this place if you go for drinks and the show. However, brunch was disorganized. My reservation was at 11:30 and I’m sitting here now at 2:05!!! and we still don’t have our food. One of our party members went to the restroom and someone from the staff came by and took her chair! No joke!!! I was really hoping for a great experience but I don’t think I’ll be coming back. Hope this place steps it up. Update: we just got our food and it’s cold. Went from 2 stars to 1 starts. I will for sure not be coming back.

Came here for brunch with a drag show. We took a risk and just walked in… definitely recommend getting a reservation! Bottomless mimosas make this even better and the show itself was really fun! The eggs breakfast is pretty average. the chicken and waffles exceed expectations! The fried chicken was perfectly crispy, the maple syrup had a really nice apricot flavor and the waffle was the right size(the ration of chicken to waffle). The portions are a good size. We were stuffed at the end and couldn’t finish our plates. The service was excellent. and there was no delay. Both the server(pretty petite girl, super friendly) and the staff was extra nice. A fun place to check out, may be even better as a big group.

This review is soley for the service during drag brunch. First of the talent is wonderful this review is not for the show itself. I have been to Wed night swing nights so my experience with the venue was for dancing and seeing shows. Off the bat it was disorganized. There was no greeter or sign that said wait to be seated. We were seated by the manager and the door started to form with other confused guests. Once seated we waited a good ten minutes before anyone greeted us. The show starts and our waitress brings only one drink and its incorrect. She runs off without taking our food order. 30 minutes into the show she comes back. When I ask her about why no one is serving us she proceeds to tell me all the other tables have been waiting longer? I was appalled but it falls on management and lack of training. I dont mind waiting and as a restaurant manager myself id stop by a table and explain the situation. No communication. We decide to leave. Its extremely disappointing at the disorganization level for food service at one of my favorite venues. If you cannot get a brunch service and food quality right then stick to being a club. Such a shame!

This review is STRICTLY for the security that were present during the event on the night of December 5th. Let me start out by saying the following: I am a professional photographer. With that being said, I get booked to shoot a lot of events at many, many different nightclubs across the Bay Area. Even though I’m always booked directly by either the promoter or guest celebrity, that doesn’t stop the fact that I’m usually given a hard time at the door. Typically, there’s usually about 30 people pestering the security to get in ahead of the normal line. This makes it that much more difficult for me to approach the security to let them know who I am and why I’m there. Once I get past that mess, the security usually gives me no form of any assistance accompanied by attitude and rudeness. This was my first time being booked at Balancoire. As per usual, I was booked directly by the promoter for the event. When I arrived, to no surprise, there were about 30 people trying to persuade the security into letting them in ahead of everyone else. I managed to squeeze past all of those people. The first security guard I saw was a woman(I really would’ve liked to have remembered her name). I quickly told her who I am and why I was there. To my complete and utter surprise, she said: «Ok, let me go grab someone to confirm.». Wow, that was a first. What seemed like less than a minute later, she opened the barricade for me and let my assistant and myself in. Let me tell you: that was a breath of fresh air. Once inside, I didn’t really need anymore assistance. But I do want to mention that EVERYSINGLE security guard(the one guarding the stairs, the 2 armed ones in the kitchen and the 2 others at the door) were all EXTREMELY friendly and didn’t have that«holier than though» complex.

I stumbled across this gem as I was leaving Lolinda in the mission district this past Friday. I wanted a cocktail before I headed back to my hotel in Union Square. That cocktail turned into one of the best nights I’ve ever had! Everyone was so friendly and inviting. Cocktails were generously priced. Food was delicious! I ended up staying there the entire night. I hung out with the entire staff and danced the night away. I left Balancoire feeling like I’d just met my San Fran family. It was definitely the highlight of my stay while in the city. If you’re looking for a place to have a few drinks, meet some genuine good people and just have fun… Balancoire is the place to go.

I’m reluctant to post this in fear it will become more popular and too crowded… We came for the drag queen brunch on Sunday and had a blast! There was no wait for seating. We got a table right away and our food came out quick too. The food was superb! And the show was a riot All the queens had some much character and really made our experience a fun and unique one! Also the bottomless mimosas for $ 15 were awesome. If you want a truly unique brunch experience, go to the Sunday drag queen show! I highly recommend it! Also everyone that works here is super nice and makes you feel welcome and they really appreciate your business. Love this place!

We ordered at 12:45, it’s 1:45. We’re still hungry. The waitress has NO idea what she is doing. Management is indifferent. We’re drunk on mimosas. The drag show is great! Please send help. #firstworldproblems

Such a fun environment! First and foremost, I am a southerner that’s very passionate about all things Southern(mostly food). I have searched high and low from San Francisco to Oakland for a good chicken and waffles dish. Every single restaurant has failed me until this one. THEBESTCHICKENANDWAFFLES. Also, wonderful, strong drinks. Everything was perfect and fun here! Highly recommend.

After reading a few of the reviews I wanted to set the record straight on a few things. Is the food the best? No. Is the service outstanding? Not really. But I didn’t come here for the food or the service: I came here for the show, and the show was hilariously amazing! Don’t expect five-star food at a drag show. If you want something delicious, walk down the street. But the show was a lot of fun, and I couldn’t imagine a better venue. Plus, 15 bucks for bottomless isn’t too shabby.

Wow. I’ve been here before and had an ok time which is why I’m giving it 1 star. Came here on Sunday around 3. The bartender was terrible. So terrible two other parties left, because of his attitude, and me and my friend who were buying $ 60 worth of drinks were going to leave. He was so slow, refused to make eye contact with us slash blatantly ignored us and then couldn’t add two numbers to tell us our total. Then he ignored us until it was time to tip. Cool bro. Never again.

This use to be a 5 star place but ever since they changed their menu the food is terrible. No more croque madams, the service is terrible, and sure the you are paying for the show… But still the food is pretty overpriced for the quality.

Dropped in to find that the taps were mostly unexciting(settled on a go-to of Negra Modelo) and a salsa band that had amps suitable for Oracle Arena.

Balancoire was the last stop on our Friday night barcrawl a few weeks ago. The service that night was unbelievably friendly and welcome! Estevan was our bartender for that night, and he really made our ratchet group’s night. He also gave us free chex mix bar snacks and kept our party going with shots and a big smile. We must have been such an annoying group, so hats off to the Balancoire crew for dealing with us(apologies if you remember who we were…) I heard that Balancoire also does drag brunches, which sounds super AWESOME! Their staff is just generous, open-hearted, and straight-up emanates«neighborhood bar» vibes! Their bar has lots of dancing space(DJ was spinning dance-y beats for our group, basically) and high-chair bar seating with romantic red candles too. I’d say the vibes are very seductive and retro at the same time. I’d definitely recommend coming here if you’re in the Mission and want a cover-free, crowd-less, and dance-able place to spend your night! We literally stumbled in after checking out the super bougie/long-line’d El Techo across the street. Balancoire is much more humble and friendly!

Went here for Dragalicious brunch! God bless the drag queens for saving what could have been a disastrous brunch!!! Imagine a French restaurant where everybody called in sick except the manager /owner who doesn’t know how to cook except fry some bacon & sausage & scramble some egg! Yes, worse than HOSPITALFOOD!!! In fact this is the WORSTBRUNCH ever!!! We think the Queens felt the guests disappointment so they are really serving their A-Game!!! 5 Stars to them! To the manager /person who seated us & keep on apologizing for«a disastrous day».we don’t need to hear that excuse! We came there to eat & be entertained, not to hear your drama. Will NEVER go here again for brunch!!! #EpicDisaster

The few times I’ve tried the food, I’ve wanted to give it 3 stars. But the venue is wonderful and makes up for it, which is why it’s 4 stars. I sometimes attend Tango practicas here on Saturday afternoons. Lovely place. Lovely that they are holding tango events. It’s a mixed crowd of folks, which I love. I think it’s a combination of its location in the Mission District as well as the varying types of events it holds.

Balancoire is an excellent venue that is one part night club and one part bar. The entrance is great, with chill bartenders and whatnot. However, the real star are their shows. Their stage is just big enough for performances, and a second story makes for a great hangout area. Food is excellent too — I got a large tri-tip that was cooked perfectly. I’ll definitely be back.
