I almost skipped this place because it had such terrible reviews, but it was fine. The washers are newer-vintage front-loading models and the dryers are giant and fast. They have a humongous washer with a warning sign against using it to wash people(!). That one costs $ 6 and I used it for a sleeping bag. The normal washers are $ 3.75 and the huge dryers are $ 0.25 per 5 mins. There is no change machine, but they do have a machine for buying detergent(not sure if it works). Most of the clientele are Chinese women. Bring HE(High Efficiency) detergent or else use a VERY small amount of the normal stuff. If you use too much, the suds won’t fully rinse out and you have to do a 2nd run through the wash. The place is tiny and easy to miss. I would expect it to be on the same side of the street as 112 and 116 Waverly(even numbers), but 114 is on the other side. Street parking is very hard to find in the vicinity.

We have all had those nights you don’t really remember. You know the ones you really only know about because you wake up the next morning covered in vomit(probably your own), blood(probably not your own) and other fluids(at this point does it really matter). Normally after such a night the safest bet is to throw your clothes in an incinerator, but sometimes you just happen to be wearing your favourite jeans and that jumper your mother gave you(and will expect you to wear at Christmas). So «Plan B» is to quietly find a laundromat. The machines seem pretty new(I suspect they have been replaced since the other reviews) and you can buy detergent and bleach(you will be needing that). Also, you can get softener, because there is no point erasing the evidence if your pants aren’t going to be comfortable. There are security cameras front and back, but as long as you go about your business quietly it isn’t like anyone will care. A wash costs $ 3.75 and drying is $ 0.25 for 5 minutes(so three quarters should cover your drying). There is no change machine so come prepared since you probably want to avoid talking to people. The machines are pretty quick and you should be out in under an hour.

I used to like this place because it’s two blocks from my house. No, it doesn’t have a change machine and the machines do require quarters. Fortunately, there’s every bank in the world a block or two away. There about 16 washing machines and as many dryers. When working, the washers sometimes goof up and get your clothes DIRTIER, though. Woops. No one seems to mess with your stuff if you leave to go run another errand. I actually left two laundry baskets at this place for about a month hoping someone would take them, but no one did. The owner just placed them neatly in the corner and there they sat. Cost: $ 2 per wash cycle(26 minutes) and $.25 per 5 minutes of drying time. The dryers work reasonably well. ***12/12: They’ve been randomly closed for about a week now with no explanation. Very bad.

The sole oasis of laundry in the entirety of Chinatown where on average like 75 of the machines have a charming clip art of a gentleman indicating Out Of Order and can we talk about the cut-throat battle for the 2.5 laundry bins? One time I was there until 9:18pm and the proprietor was kind enough to allow me to finish my load. Three stars for three chairs Ps – don’t use washer #5 –no spin cycle leaves your clothes dripping

Serves its purpose. Bring your own soap and quarters. Machine has eaten my quarters a couple times. No English spoken here. Hours are 7am to 9:30pm.

*bangs head against wall* I live in Chinatown — crowded, urban, hilly Chinatown. One of the only reasons I thought moving into this place two years ago was going to be okay was because there was a laundromat located right across the street from my building… meaning it would be semi-convenient to do laundry. Where do I start about how much I hate this particular laundry? I cannot pick a place — so I’ll just jump in the middle of the pile and muck around: 1. It is always crowded as hell in this laundromat — no matter what day or time you choose to do your laundry. I once got up at 6am in order to try to avoid the crush of rude people doing laundry in B&G — no avail, I got over there at 6:15 w/all my crap — place was packed. WTF? 2. People are RUDE. They will shove you out of the way — physically shove your ass to the ground — in order to get a basket, dryer, whatever. If you are not watching your stuff like a hawk they will fuck with it — take stuff out of the dryer and pile it on the floor. Pour detergent into your washer on top of clean clothes. My former roomie — M — had some little teenage twat pour bleach onto his sheets because he had the nerve to tell her quit sitting on the only empty washing machine so that he could use it. 3. People SMOKE in this laundry. Um… hello? Clean clothes aren’t CLEAN anymore if they smell like cigarettes… I can deal with it when I go to a bar or choose to smoke or be around someone who is smoking — that is my own fault… but, at the laundry? COMEON, PEOPLE! 4. This is the kicker: Went over there on 4⁄14 to do laundry — place was all locked up, sign on the door which said: «B&G will be closed until 4⁄15 for repairs we apologize for the inconveniance.» Was pissed, but whatever — hauled all my stuff back up the four flights of stairs to my apartment. Went back on 4⁄15. Still locked up. Walked by on my way home from work a week later — the sign had been changed to say: «B&G will be closed for repairs until 4/20, we apologize for the inconvenience.» Went back on 4⁄22: STILLFUCKINGLOCKEDUP!!! Sign reads: «B&G will be closed for repairs until 4/28, we apologize for the inconvenience.» At this point I was sick and desperate for clean clothes… so I had to haul my fucking clothes & junk up three huge, hilly blocks to the only other laundromat I know about in my neighborhood. Wheezing and coughing and sweating with fever the whole way — just so I could have some clean sheets & PJs. I couldn’t even deal with taking the whole load of stuff — I was too sick & too pissed. Nearly a week later — I am again out of clean clothing… completely. Down to my uncomfortable thong underwear that I don’t know why I own… down to the pair of socks with the hole in the toe… down to having to actually wear WORKCLOTHES to work(as opposed to the jeans & t-shirts I normally wear…) As in: dresses, skirts, suits, etc. I FUCKINGHATETHAT. So, it’s 4⁄30 — place should be open — I walk by on my way home from work… door is open, it’s a good sign… NO! WORKMENSTILLWORKING? And, the place looks EXACTLYTHESAME! WHATTHEFUCK? *sobs* I just want some friggin’ clean undies, people! Is that too much to ask???
