My favorite korean restaurant in sf! The place is small but nice interior and comfortable. The waitress and waiters are very friendly. You have to try dol sot bibimbab and kimchi soup! These are my favorite! Overall every food was excellent.

Traditional Korean restaurant tucked away in a shopping plaza. It was kind of hard for me to find it at first but just turn the corner after you pass Subway. The prices were reasonable and the service was really friendly. I loved their free brown rice tea which the waitress kindly kept refilling for us. The banchan was good, I enjoyed the potato salad and fish cake. My friend and I each got the dolsot(stone pot) bibimbap for $ 13. It was filled with delicious rice and vegetables and you can add as much spicy sauce to it as you want. As far as bibimbap goes it was definitely better than average. I would be back here again if I’m craving Korean food!

Very nice Korean restaurant.!! The place was pretty small, but comfortable. Waitresses were very polite and greeted us in Korean(which I love). We got seated and they served us the tea and menus. The tea had some kind of rice in it which I thought was pretty cool. Whenever I came here with my friends, I ate army soup.(they called assorted variety soup for 2 people). This soup is so… great! I really recommend if you guys like spicy soup. After you guys order Army soup, you guys have to order Soju(korean). The combination between SoJU and Army soup. is… like… perfect!!! It is beyond description. wow. I love Arang!!! See ya!

This restaurant offers delicious food you can’t taste anywhere else only here at Arang restaurant. The food was excellent. Bi Bim Bap tastes as good as it looks. The prices are reasonable. I would say that Arang is possibly a local Korean food gem in town. Highly recommend it!!!

This is an update due to the last 2 times I ate here. I came with my son & his girlfriend and ordered the ala carte BBQ spicy pork & beef and the seafood pancake. The beef was definitely NOT grilled, it was cooked in a pan and scooted onto the iron platter, the onions were infinitely not cooked. I asked the waiter if the cook was new/different and he said no, that’s how they always cook it. I’ve eaten here quite a few times and that is not true. The service always sucks here anyway even when they’re not busy. When I asked for extra tofu(since we only got 1 piece for 3 people), they said they didn’t have any more. Same applied when I asked for more potato salad. $ 75 for a ½ cup of pork & ½ cup of beef with maybe $ 2 worth of ingredients for the seafood pancake is a bit pricey anyway. Tofu & potato salad can’t be that expensive. The time before I went with my husband and we were the only table that did not get the appetizers before dinner. I will not be back!

This place is doing something right – it’s been here since my raving days in high school, which was more than 15 years ago! Arang is a small Korean restaurant next to a karaōke lounge in the Fillmore. The neighborhood may seem a little seedy and the restaurant is small. There are maybe three or four booths towards the back, so it is to dine in with a small group of friends, but it will cause you to wait a awhile with so little vacancy. Once you sit down though and start eating, you’ll probably forget the earlier woes – the food is really delicious. Their barbeque beef(bulgogi) has been consistently good after all these years I’ve been there. Service is average – it doesn’t take too much effort to flag down a waiter/waitress due to the size. This place closes at 2AM in the morning as of this review, so if late night snacking is your fancy, this place will hit the spot. Just be mindful of the karaōke and other crowds during that time and you should be fine.

This is my favorite Korean restaurant. Every time I miss my mom’s food, I go there and come out comforted, content and happy. Waitress is very pleasant and makes you feel home. Sometimes, waitress walks around asking everyone eating if you need additional ban-chan with very warm smile. I think she is the owner of the restaurant and she reminds me of my mother. I took my parents when they visited me from Korea and they thought food was great too. My dad said«no wonder why the restaurant is doing well» regarding the nice service by waitress. The place is small, clean and neat. I just love eating there. Galbitang with kimchi is must have.

I came here after a reunion my college friends and I had at a nearby restaurant bar called Pa’ina Lounge. We were hungry and wanted something cheap/good so stumbled into Arang Restaurant. While Arang was cheap, the food really wasn’t that good and the service was kind of poor. I guess I am not surprised that this place has 3.5 stars. This place is sort of hard to find since it’s around the corner and not directly on Fillmore St. I don’t recommend coming here unless you’re really in a rut for some food, don’t want to venture anywhere else, and don’t mind spending more money than you should on Korean food.

Grabbed a quick lunch here. Pretty basic restaurant tucked away in a strip mall area. If you are not careful, it is easy to pass it up. The food was really good, and perfect portions for lunch. I had to the soft tofu spicy soup. I like the tofu was good, fresh and silken. My one complaint is the egg they put in the soup was not done table side. So it didn’t thicken the soup the way I like. Other than that it was good. The potato salad was REALLYGOOD !

Arang also is open on Christmas day, I had lunch here today. There is one of the best Korean restaurant in SF, I think. Delicious, clean, friendly service. Parking in the Safeway parking lot is convenient and the prices are reasonable. I soooooo love ARANG!

Sooooo good. I love how much food you get for such a great price in the city. My meal came out quickly and they gave me free miso soup while I waited. It’s not upscale, definitely a Ma and Pa place. I don’t mind that.

This used to be our neighborhood go-to spot. Super convenient that they’re open until 2am. It’s pretty hard to get a seat here at lunch, surprisingly. I wish they’d just drop the«Japanese» part of their menu – they’re removed enough from Japantown proper that I don’t feel like they need it. Service is good – there used to be a super nice lady who worked there who was very attentive, but she disappeared all of a sudden a little over a year ago. Anyways, on to the food. Our standard was a spicy pork or spicy chicken plate and a labokgi(ramen with rice cakes in spicy sauce). Alternatively the kimchi pancakes and soondubu were okay. Soju cocktail is reasonable as well. I would say don’t go for the bone soups because they’re honestly pretty bland. Sadly before we moved away the quality seemed to go down a bit – rice cakes would get overcooked. sauce wasn’t spicy enough. but fingers crossed next time we go back for nostalgia they’ll be back to normal.

This is a cleaner somewhat cheaper Korean joint. Food takes forever to be made and service is order, get your food and ask for the check.

3– stars for service 5– stars for food My go-to Korean spot anytime I’m in the area! I’ve been coming here for years and never disappoints. Sometimes when it’s busy staff can be a little slow but usually I have company with me so quality time with friends or family often makes up for it!

We use this place all the time but I’ve never had the catering from Arang but it’s the best! I have used Arang caters first time. The different types of meat beef, pork and chicken were all really flavorful, prices reasonable. Includes rice, salad, pot sticker, potato and Japchae. They can also give you Kimchi if you request them. I’m a now a huge fan of Arang’s catering not only for their delicious lunch box but also their friendly service. You can’t go wrong with Arang caters! I’d recommend to everyone.

Simple, delicious, and filling Korean comfort food. I had the tofu Soon Dubu. It definitely hit the spot. My boyfriend had the Dolsot Bibimbop. Also delicious. The staff is nice and friendly. Service was pretty quick and the price was good.

My friend suggested Arang while we were in the Fillmore district in a time crunch. I had doubts knowing that Korean sit down restaurants are not usually quick. My friend liked Arang for their bibimbap, and I wish I ordered that as well. The lunch special menu provided many options, and I ordered the spicy beef stew, with crunchy potstickers. Our server provided water, hot tea, and many of the Korean BBQ side dishes(kimchi, bean sprouts, rice cakes, etc.). The stew tasted ok, nothing a little soy sauce and hot sauce couldn’t fix. The side dishes were tasty, and the service was good. I’d drop in again to try something else, and think the prices are reasonable.

A more traditional restaurant hidden among hipster gastro pubs. The food is very flavorful but unfortunately squid is too chewy and almost impossible to eat. We loved the seafood pancake so much that it compensated for the rest :). We had seafood tofu soup and octopus with spicy udon which was great. A hidden gem in the neighborhood for sure!

I JUSTHADTHEBESTBIBIMBAP here. It was so good that I almost burned my mouth because I was eating too fast. Definitely order Dolsot Kimchee Bibimbap, if you like spicy food! I came here on multiple occasions, All the Korean dishes are usually pretty good! Only complaint was that Hamburger steak portion is kind of small, so you would still be hungry. I just wish they had a tad better service, especially during late night. Can’t wait to try more dishes here. I will be back for my Korean food cravings!
