This is my favorite local sandwich shop. It’s not on the main drag of Diviz so it’s easy to miss. And it doesn’t look like much inside. But they have great meats and solid bread and they put it together like a sandwich should be. You wouldn’t think that’s such a feat, but I haven’t found anyone come close nearby. I love a solid turkey on their French bread or their roast beef sometimes when i just need that juicy red meat. It’s never busy and their service is quick. So get a sandwich and take it to the park and go watch the sunset. So glad we still have a local sandwich shop.

This place is a serious hidden gem. In a city of $ 12-$ 15 sandwiches requiring 30 minute waits(not that I don’t love these, too), these delicious $ 7-$ 8 sandwiches ready to go in 5 minutes are a godsend. I don’t even _like_turkey(it’s a long story), but I was stunned by the California(I think it was formerly called the Zippity Bop) on Dutch crunch. It was seriously incredible, from the fresh ingredients in the middle(AVOCADOOOO) to the soft, perfectly sweet slices of Dutch crunch. It’s a really generous portion, so you honestly don’t need chips, but if you need to grab some chips or a drink, you can pick those up here, too. Other noteworthy mentions: 1) Really friendly staff who will chat with you as you wait for your sandwich, 2) and they have a stamp card for sandwiches, which I’m sure I’ll fill up soon. Can’t wait for warm weather again – I’ll be frequenting Alamo Square Park for sunny picnics at the park!

Really nice people and I love their sandwiches! Dutch crunch bread is great with any meat or cheese. Get the sandwich card to get a free sandwich after few purchases!

Hands down best simple sandwich in SF. Forget Ikes, Bi-Rite or those other fancy sandwich places, Alamo Square Marked & Deli is where it’s at. My go-to is the turkey on rye — my partner prefers turkey/gouda on wheat roll.

I’ve lived on two different sides of this block for about 10 years, and this«corner» store has always had anything I needed. First of all, BESTSANDWICHES! Boars Head meats, tons of options, they definitely give Bi-Rite a run for their money. Back when Bi-Rite opened I had read that they were closing and was super bummed, but lo and behold! Anyways, besides their great deli sandwiches and awesome selection of go-to groceries and beer and snacks, the staff is incredible. Lance(who I just learned moved to the east coast) lived within a block and I’d always run into him on the street, and he always was super friendly and was a ‘neighborhood’ dude who knew me from not only the store but from living on the block. I had some issues recently with my dog, and the manager/owner(?) Mike was beyond helpful and supportive! Point being, that’s the kind of place this is. Always reliable, best sandwiches, and it’s not just a ‘nice staff’ that works there… its a neighborhood joint that cares about residents and community. If you’re going to Alamo Square to lay around in the park, stop here first!

Decent sandwich but it was definitely NOT made with love. Guy making it was cursing about which cutting boards were approved by the FDA. Good and cheap enough, but the bad attitude won’t have me going back.

What a little gem… tucked away in Scott Street just over the road from Alamo Park is where you will find this modest deli. What comes out of this place is far from modest. The signature sandwiches are super… they are generous, look good and they taste great. We had the toasted New Yorker with its Postrami, mustard pickles, swiss cheese and coleslaw on Dutch Crunch which was delicious and so moorish. The second sandwich we had was the Full House… with ham, swiss cheese, tomato and more on Dutch Crunch it was really good too. They are really helpful and nice people working in the place which all made for some very satisfied diners. We will certainly return.

Came in at 10am this morning and there was a party of four ahead of me. There was only one person working, making sammiches and working the register. Poor dude needed help, that’s just wrong. My sammich and breakfast sausage muffin were dericious. But only four stars for the lack of staff. Help a brotha out, please.

Finally tried a sandwich from this place after living only a few blocks away for over a year and a half. Friendly staff, great sandwich! Can’t ask for much more. I had the Alamo Square sandwich and it was delicious! I’ll be back!

I’m not sure how I’ve lived in this neighborhood for as long as I had without discovering this gem. The sandwiches are absolutely amazing and they use Boar’s Head ingredients. I’m stuck on the peppered turkey and the Rueben is another favorite, as well. Added bonus? The beer selection, although small, is usually riddled with choice picks. You can even snag singles there if you’re just out for a quick beer and sandwich lunch! Hanging out at Alamo Square? Do yourself a favor by grabbing a sandwich and a blanket to complete your day!

Alamo square deli is a place I visited frequently when I previously lived in SF and on returning I’m happy to see their quality has not gone down but was sad to see their sandwich suggestions gone. Whenever I would go for a picnic in Alamo Square which used to be often I would stop by here get a sandwich, a mint iced tea, and salt and vinegar chips, needless to say I was happy after which led to a nap in the park. My favorite there was always the green monster(veg) with buffalo chicken, the chicken was only added when I was really hungry or saving the sandwich for another meal. But from the others I’ve had or tasted from friends there really is no bad sandwich though I wouldn’t recommend the Parmesan chicken one.

My girlfriend and I didn’t really like our sandwiches. I’m surprised they have such a high rating, because the sandwiches weren’t anything special. The bread actuality tasted like it was a few days old. Got a parking ticket whole I was inside ordering for a few minutes. Quite expensive sandwich haha! I might not give them another chance, because I’ve had such amazing sandwiches in SF before.

A friendly guy made a tasty sandwich. No frills. You cannot drink the beer they sell onsite because(we were told) they do not have that type of permit. But they had a great selection… so grab one to take home with you!

When you first walk in you think it’s just another small grocery, but just past the first set of shelves on the right is a chalkboard menu up on the wall, as well as a deli fridge. There’s a nice array of sandwich options to choose from, and you can create your own. I came in with a group of 5 others, and the one guy working there finished all the sandwiches within 15 minutes! I got tuna on soft french bread, and it was definitely delicious. If I’m in the area looking for a quick sandwich, I’ll definitely be stopping in here again.

We were in the neighborhood and wanted a quick sandwich place so we stopped by Alamo Square Deli. There were only two guys working there and there was a lot of business so they were pretty slammed. We were able to order, walk around a bit and then our sandwiches were ready. I loved the music they were playing as it was 80s hard rock and they had a bunch of sandwiches named after guys in those types f bands too. I think Ronnie James Dio was one of them. I didn’t get that one although it did sound sound. We got two sandwiches and they were good. My wife’s was a bit dry but we enjoyed them.

Walked in here thinking I was in for a regular average NYC deli, left here gladly mistaken The sandwiches are amazing. The Dutch Crunch bread is about the softest thing Iv ever tasted. We ordered Zippity Bop(Turkey, avocado, jack cheese) and Connor’s(roast beef gouda cheese), and the tastes of both sandwiches were indescribable. This is the perfect lunch spot if you’re in the area to see the painted ladies(aka ‘Full House’ houses) or if you would just like to picnic in the park.

Omg this is the best market and deli ever. I don’t care if they guys behind the counter aren’t particularly nice(they were nice to me) but I really only care about 1. what you stock, 2. how clean it is, 3. beer selection(THEYSELLSTRONGBOW!) and 4. food quality. Mancat and I split the Dio at the park, and had to fight off 10 dogs who also wanted to eat the Dio. I haven’t had a sandwich that good in a long time! Can’t wait to go back.
