I went in hungry and came out with a few pastries. Had no idea what they were so I asked. The guy was very patient in explaining this and that. I just chose what sounded remotely understandable. The pastries were fine and it satisfied my hunger pains.

I hope after I post this in Unilocal it doesn’t get removed. But if you want my honest review, continue reading. I’ve learned from my own experience in this place. But as others have reviewed, the quality is only getting worst. The last time I was there and for sure is the last time I ever go in this filthy restaurant, the guy(I think is the owners son or son in-law) attending costumers, was still wearing his coveralls from his auto mechanic shop, with motor oil and grease all over and his hands unwashed from his auto shop(finger nails filled with grease) try to serve my food and all I can do at that point is to say to him«sorry but I don’t want it, thank you» and I walked away. This place is the dirties place in the area to eat Nicaraguan food. So, If you wanna eat Nicaraguan food at a better place in the area, then I recommend«Las Tinajas» and«Oye Managua» for a few bucks more. Is really well worth it.

Nicaraguan fare isn’t abound in the Bay or many other metro or rural areas for that matter, so despite Adelita’s limited selection it was nice to find a place where I can grab a Nicaraguan standard quickly and inexpensively — particularly the nacatamale. My great grandma used to make these most memorably during the Christmas season and since she passed it’s not often I get to partake in the tradition, so while I can’t say these compare(but really, how often does a certain dish ever compare to one of familial nostalgia?), nacatamales do require effort to make and Adelita’s are good enough to do the trick. Protip: nacatamales + heaps of the vinegar from pickled jalapenos is of kiss-to-the-sky, hit-the-spot caliber.(It gives good heat, my friends.) Dine-in atmosphere? No no

Quesillos $ 4.35 including tax The quality is only getting worse. A cold nacatamal no flavor, it only had a piece of pork(small) half of a potato, and 1 tomato other then that just a whole bunch of masa. Can’t believe how bad their food has gotten. I used to love going here but now ill double think about it.

I do not recommend anyone eat there based on MY experience I went to the ER because I could not stop throwing up after spitting out a cockroach from my CACAO drink. Apparently someone or people did not like my previous comment and reported me to Unilocal. Unilocal is for people to write their own review regarding the food and ANYGOODORBADEXPERIENCES. Reviews should not be bias or reported because YOU do not agree with it.

My wife ordered a traditional pineapple upside down cake from this place on my birthday which is Christmas Day and suffice it to say, it was HORRIBLE! If I could rate it at 0 stars I would. The pineapple was the part of the cake was canned which was totally absorbed with a thick layer of dried sugar that crunched from the slice of the knife. Thinking that maybe it was not as sweet as it looked, we tried a small slice and it was totally unedible and honestly 10x sweeter than a childs cotton candy. That was just the topping. The cake was dry and totally boxed tasting if it had any taste at all. No this is NOT authentic but a neighborhood ripoff~!! Stick to the small pastries because it seems that all you might me able to do… I would NOT recommend this bakery!

Best, most on point, legit nacatamales EVER! Whenever I eat one I thank sweet baby jesus that I am part nicaraguan. Take them to go and have your nacatamal with café con leche and a slice of toast and you’ll be in heaven. Not sure if the lady that works here speaks english but she is the sweetest!

From the outside and the sign(the one with the cake), I thought this was primarily a bakery. Actually, it’s more like a Nicaraguan diner with a small pastry counter. I didn’t recognize most of the items on the posted menu(Vigoron, Arroz a la Valenciana, Marquesote, Pio Quinto, Raspados, Nacatamales, Quesilla, Perrerreque) but luckily the owner(I presume) was gracious enough to describe everything to me. The prices were very reasonable, e.g., $ 7.50 for a rice plate. Inside there’s a lunch counter, a pastry counter and some tables. I didn’t see any cakes. It looks like an older place, somewhat run down and dark. They do bake cakes there but they need to be ordered in advance. They also have savory meat filled pies but these also have to be ordered in advance. * Quesilla: This was an unheated corn tortilla folded around a flat thick layer of mild white cheese almost the size of the tortilla(reminded me of string cheese), tangy cabbage slaw(curtido), jalapenos, and crema. The tortilla quickly became soggy and fell apart. This would have been better warm and with less liquid. * Can’t remember the name of the pastry; it’s a round, thick corn tortilla filled with a bit of cinnamon sugar and fried. It wasn’t too sweet and would be nice with coffee. Cash only

ok, where to start! this place it’s been there for decades probably when they first open it was the best nicoya(nicaraguan) chucherias(munchies)you couuld get, but now this place needs to be remodel asap! the old ladie that always serve is tired all the time and wich by the way they always run out of what they have in their small menu, one day i brought my son cuz we wer craving«quesillos» it was early sunday and she said they didn’t have no more, so i asked for a raspado(snow cone) she said she did’t have de leche(caramel) and besides she is so slow! anyway we left disapointed and went to «mitchells instead! and the nacatamales nah! i can make them better!

I have been here for the raspados and the picos. The picos are ok but this is the only place I can go to for a raspado when I am in the mood for one. I haven’t tried the food but next time I go, I will pick up a couple of the Nacs to go.

the place is TINY but has authentic nicaraguan pastries. I like the picos which is this triangle bread filled with yummy cin. sugar and cheese. My mom knows the lady for YEARS so we’ve been coming here a lot for raspados(shaved ice w condensed milk) nacatamales and just authentic nicaraguan baked goods.
