I have worked with Katy Young and Marie Barnes to advise me on a small claims dispute where a client refused to pay me for architectual design services rendered.
I certainly didn’t want to go to court but also felt that it was my duty to stand up for the work I’d done and also face the client directly to express that his unwillingness to uphold his end of our agreement wasn’t.
Both Katy and Marie were a wonderful mixture of being compassionate, light hearted, and extremely well prepared. They helped me to navigate the paperwork and advised me on what to say, most importantly, keeping things short and to the point.
Katy and Marie also advised me how to improve my contracts to make them clearer for both parties involved, something which I’d been meaning to do for years. I appreciate their desire to protect me and my design firm in the long run.
And as a designer, I loved this: The law group is housed high up in the historic Hobart Building right on Market street. It was super easy to get to from BART and as we prepared for my case, I had this sense of the history of this wonderful city pouring through me.

I hired Wendy Hillger to represent me in a binding arbitration hearing that resulted from difficulties with my co-​owners as we moved the SF property from a TIC to condos. She was very well-​prepared and I was pleased with the results. Her billings were reasonable and everything about the charges were fully and fairly disclosed. First of all, David Neid is a total geek. In a good way. He would think about, talk about, and dream about law ²⁴⁄₇ if he could. Well, ok, I take that back: He does!
