IS this place CLOSED now? I tried calling the number, it says that its out of service and we drove by a few times at night and it was always closed. The one time I went here for the Bay Bridge light up back in March 2013, I had a great time. The ambiance, and drinks were great for the price. I wished I tried the food since it was so aromatic and reasonably priced. Hope this place isn’t closed now. Someone please answer, and respond with their new number.

Only reason it doesn’t get 1 star is because the view is very cool and their beer prices are very reasonable. Other than that, it’s pretty bad. The building is a converted bar/club that is weird and grungy. The food is the worst Thai I’ve had in SF. I went with the chicken Pad Thai figuring that was the safest choice and it was fairly inedible. I’m a «clean your plate» eater and could only choke down about 1⁄3 of it. Noodles were not cooked, the sauce was just weird, and the chicken was dry as a bone. Service was OK but the staff does not really speak English.

I only went here for a drink. First problem: the woman working at the bar barely understood English. I don’t have a problem with foreigners, but if you’re going to work in a bar in America, make sure you can understand English. More important, however, was the look of the place. It was totally run down. Their little pool in the back was completely empty, and the chairs were falling apart. The chain link fence surrounding the place didn’t help, either. The view WAS pretty awesome, though.

A hidden gem for Noodles, Great views and Parking! 3 in one location… Surprisingly good noodle soup $ 7.50 each: combo beef noodles and duck noodles soup. Very flavorful. And the meat was very tender. Service was decent. The building and deco was out of date! Need some work. Will be back for sure. Perfect soup to have especially after a long day walking in the piers.

it doesn’t get any better than this! first class ocean front view overlooking bay bridge, check! unbelievably affordable, check! good food, check! most dishes are $ 7.50, can you believe this? but it’s true… we ordered: — pad thai with shrimp — beef kra pow — fried rice — thom kha gai all delicous! note: this place is hidden all the way in the back lot of the ferry building, you have to go out of the ferry building and keep walking toward the water

This reastaurant provides a fantastic view of the Bay Bridge and tasty Thai food. It’s truly a hidden gem. The food is very reasonably priced, especially for the location. I paid $ 7.50 for a large dish of Thai Fried Rice with shrimp. Honestly, it was some of the best fried rice I have ever had. It’ was rich in flavor and they put a good amount of shrimp in it. Everything else on the menu is around the same price and is delicious as well. I’ve been there twice since my first visit and I plan on returning. The only bad thing about this place is that it takes them a long time for them to bring you your food. It’s a bit strange since each time I’ve been the place is only filled with a few customers. So check this place out when you have at least an hour to eat.

This was a random find. We were just walking along the Embarcadero and looking towards the view of the Bay Bridge and see a sign«1 Ferry Thai Cuisine and Bar» right behind the Ferry Building. Thai Food?! Bar?! Curious, we walked toward the establishment just wanting to take a glance at the menu posted on the door: $ 7.50 entrees, $ 7.00 cocktails, and $ 3.50 beers along the waterfront?! Must be a joke. We went inside for a beer since we weren’t that hungry. The restaurant was almost empty! A full bar and lots of beers on tap: Sapporo, Fat Tire, Pyramid, Anchor Steam, to name a few. We took a seat outside on their patio where there was a wonderful view of the Bay Bridge(and Bay Lights) as the sun was setting. There were a few tables outside occupied by groups having a drink. The décor could use some work, but there’s a great view, and some great deals. I’ll have to come back and try the food soon!

This is a funny place. Not funny ha ha but funny strange. It doesnt seem to be able to make up its mind about what it wants to be when it grows up. Does it want to be a sports bar? Yes. Watched ultimate fighting on 4 of the big screen tvs. Does it want to be a disco bar? Yes, it has one long bar right as you walk in. Disco lights. All sorts of multimedia projections on the ceiling and walls. Does it want to be a dance club? Yes, it has a smooth wooden floor and tables you can push to the side to open up a nice dance floor. Does it want to be a good, yet inexpensive Thai restaurant? Yes. It has a long menu with a lot of great meals. All main courses were $ 7.50 ea. The three main dishes we tried were all very very good. So if you want any of these things, this is a good place. Also, it has a great view of the Bay Bridge Lights now. Go try it… have fun… enjoy the view.

The view of the bay bridge from this place is awesomely 5 stars. Soo pretty bay lights! :) The venue itself was pretty lovely. I didn’t get to try their food since I had already eaten beforehand. I was here for a start-up social event last weekend. They have a full bar where you can order cocktails, beers, & wines. Had a glass of sauvignon blanc which was $ 8– normal.

I went for Thai New Years last night with my friends from work! We only came here for drinks and to celebrate and didn’t try any food, but damn this place is so nice! It’s on the water front and you can see the bay bridge all lit up! Nice bar tenders. Everyone was just having a great time! I’m gonna try to come back one day on a regular night with some friends to dine in. Super excited to see what they’re all about during normal business hours.

Now you would think a restaurant with a prime location between the Ferry Building and the new Bay Lights would be a shoo-in for success, especially among the tourists. Jamie W. and I definitely didn’t get that impression when we dropped by on Sunday evening to give it a try. It was pretty close to empty even though it’s a cavernous place that could accommodate quite a few customers at the same time. Part of the problem is just getting there as you have to walk in the dark trying to avoid the potholes in the pavement. Another problem is the décor as it looks like a TGIF’s reimagined as a 1970’s disco with colored florescent lights blinking from the canvas-draped ceiling and the beer sign neon on the windows. Once seated next to the window, things picked up considerably when we saw most of the familiar menu items priced at a flat $ 7.50 with a few dishes a dollar more. We were surprised at the bargain pricing since hungry tourists would certainly pay more given the sticker shock they must have already experienced at the Ferry Building. We went straight for the Egg Rolls, which were deep-fried and nothing extraordinary with silver noodles, black mushrooms, carrots and cabbage stuffed inside(see photo). The sweet and sour sauce only made it taste more like Cantonese takeout. Jamie was pleased with his Pad Kee Mao(Drunken Noodles) since they served the flat, chow fun-like noodles amid the chicken, green beans and green peppers(see photo). I liked mine reasonably well, the Combination Beef Noodle Soup. It turned out to be a heaping bowl with the same flat noodles and an abundance of beef, whether it was in slices, chunks or balls(see photo). My one quibble was that the broth was too salty to fully enjoy the bowl. All in all, I think their execution could use more polish, but I like the culinary intention and price point too much to ignore the place entirely. I think they could also market themselves a bit more starting with a much-needed name change since we only noticed it as we were looking at the Bay Lights from the pier and saw people inside. FOOD — 3 stars… a workmanlike effort that needs polish but shows promise of improvement AMBIANCE — 3 stars… I expect Tony Manero to do a dance solo to the Bee Gees’ «You Should Be Dancin’» SERVICE — 3.5 stars… true, their English is a bit broken but their positive attitudes more than make up for that TOTAL — 3 stars… Thai by the Bay Lights could work

Finally a neighborhood-friendly priced restaurant on the waterfront! They get an extra star, from 4– to 5-stars, just for being a straight shootin’, affordably priced, good food thai restaurant for the good residents of the Rincon and Barbary Coast neighborhoods to enjoy without needing to take out a loan from the bank(looking at you Boulevard and Prospect). Got the drunken noodles, and they were absolutely delicious! View of the Bay Lights — wonderful. The service was excellent — the server smartly restated my and my partner’s order to verify she understood what we asked for. The food started coming out about 10 minutes later … first my partner’s phở, then the eggrolls, and then my Pad Kee Mao(aka drunken noodles). The prices are fantabulous — most everything is $ 7.50 with a few items at $ 8.50 — that’s a helluva deal when you consider other offerings along The Embarcadero on a Sunday evening. Now, I share the desire for some fluffing up of the experience. I think it would be a great piano bar — let the gays and whomever else watches Glee or American Idol take the microphone and sing away with the live piano player. Maybe some sports programming on the TVs that line the walls … Maybe some popular TV shows(I keep hearing Downton Abbey something is popular right now… ???) to help draw neighbors in to the place. They probably have enough room to put a couple of pool tables or dart boards in there too. Anyway … I sure hope these folks succeed because it sucks to always have to go to the Mission or Clement Street to find some food priced for folks who don’t necessarily make over $ 100,000 per year at their jobs or in retirement.

This place is so terrible, on so many levels, that it’s honestly hard to know where to begin. 1) Atmosphere(or incredible lack there of). We walked in assuming we were entering a Thai restaurant but quickly realized we were in a 90s dance club with no dancing. 2) Service. Ohhh boy. It was so bad. Their English was so awful they couldn’t understand my girlfriend asking for a gin and tonic, despite having a huge bar — just for show I guess. But against all of our better instincts we ordered food. A simple order: Pad See Ew and Pad Thai. 45 minutes later one of the servers is walking around auctioning our food off to various tables, «Pad See Ew??» … because writing down which table ordered it is simply out of the question. A server finally landed on the correct table with a glaring problem; they forgot half of our order, and had no clue where it was… 3) Food. The food was probably their bright spot, and it was outright atrocious. Overcooked, MSG-laden atrociousness. Not at all worth the near-hour long wait it took to arrive. And we had to split our one plate on account of the remainder of our order never showing up. I’ve been to some bad restaurants in the Bay Area and this is unquestionably the worst. Probably the worst I’ve been to anywhere. If it’s still in business in three months I’d be shocked. Or, at the very least, I’d assume their underground cock fighting is doing well enough to pay for the overhead. On a plus side, they have windows. And the windows are facing the Bay Lights. So, there’s that…
