Great service and great food. Restaurant is clean and patronage seems pleasant I have eaten here 2 times in the past month. Parking can be a little difficult in this location but that is not Rubio’s fault. Also saw the manager working the floor and the register. Which is nice to see the management taking a hands on role in the restaurant. Eat with confidence.

Dane is awesome. He is always to nice, helpful and polite. I often drive to the santee location although the El Cajon one is closer, in hopes that Dane is working. Thank you for the awesome service and delicious food!

We love Rubio’s. But it would be cool if you guys had comment cards. Guess this is the next best thing. Dane, our cashier, was great! In fact, I downloaded Unilocal,created a new account, and wrote this thing out just to let you know it, Dane!
Otherwise, the food is always solid.

Besides Santee being a bit further from anything closer and within reach, this place will get busy. Rubio’s isn’t to bad, but not my everyday lunch stop.

I eat a lot of Rubios all over san diego. This location’s food is consistently sub par. Its good because its Rubios, but something is off in the kitchen. It can be so much better.

I’m a San Diego native and Rubio’s has always been an old time favorite of mine, since I was a kid. Bad things happen when local businesses hop on the corporate bandwagon, re-​brand and sell out.
We pretty much live by the border here and avocados are a staple in California. So why are you trying to sell «Mexican» cuisine but only give out a spoonful of guacamole with the rolled tacos??? It’s enough for THREE bites of one taco. Then you ask for extra guac (for $ 1.00 more) and only get a salsa bar serving in a plastic cup? This is infuriating and pathetic.
You guys took away everything that made the brand classic– the random surf pictures from Baja all over the store, the simple menu and the sunny logo. The new images and furniture make it feel cold in there. Not even taco Tuesday sounds appealing anymore. Sad.

Minus a star for parking. It’s a total mess.
Food is usually on point and the employees are usually pleasant. Just expect to park by AT&T or wal mart unless you want to drive around in endless circles. Usually there’s no line but it can get really busy.

Not a fan of the new interior. Less tables that accommodate families of 4 or more. Not sure if prices changed too but it seemed more expensive than last time too. My food was tasty but the sliced avocado on my tacos were covered in brown spots. Not exactly visually appealing or appetizing.
I recently read that Rubio’s was purchased by an investor. Hope they don’t mess with the food too much!

I just started a new job so my hours are wonky. So I had a hankering for fish tacos at 11 am today. The cashier/​manager that helped me was pleasant but she seemed like she just wanted to get back to what she was doing before. The other cashier, I think her name was Thalia? Is not a person who should deal with the public. Only person I can give props to is the girl who made my tacos. They were good but the chips were stale. Like 3 days stale. I guess this is what you get in Santee…

The ONLY thing I’m not crazy about there is their red salsa… everything else is amazing: obviously, fish tacos are perfect. The classic shrimp burritos and ancho citrus shrimp burritos are both fantastic. Chicken quesadillas are amazing. Chips are perfectly crunchy and salty. No real complaints. Yes, prices are kinda high for a fast-​casual place, but it’s fresh and high-​quality.

I really like Rubio’s. It’s always fresh and you can get a pretty healthy meal that is filling.
My go to is the Health Mex Grilled Chicken burrito, no rice, add guacamole.
For about 500 cals, I get a super filling burrito, add salsa and some lime and you are good to go!
Staff is always super nice at this location. Always clean as well

I had their Healthy Mex Grilled Chicken burrito with black beans, rice, and salsa on a wheat flour tortilla with a side of tortilla chips which came with the burrito. (
) I also had a medium unsweetened iced tea. All together my meal came to right under $ 10.
The burrito was handsomely filled with all the ingredients. In fact, when I sliced it in half, the ingredients came bursting out. (
) I really enjoyed eating the burrito with the green salsa from the salsa bar. (
) The salsa was very flavorful and had a medium kick. The grilled chicken was tender and moist, and the black beans and rice were well prepared and seasoned well. I was happy that the whole wheat flour tortilla was moist and not dry. Good stuff.
The salsa bar was clean and well stocked. (
) The employees were great and had a great sense of humor. I noticed there was good communication between the front and the back where the food was being prepared. They were very efficient.
