Nick’s Barbershop

I loved going to Nick, and always felt I got a solid (if inconsistent) haircut for my money. The last three times I went (usually late in the day on Friday) he closed over an hour earlier than posted hours.
I gave up finally, and just go to a competitor about a quarter mile away. I wish Nick good luck, but closing early consistently will always lose me as a customer. I’ll miss the random concert DVDs (Taylor Swift?) and total lack of small talk (I hate small talk).

This guy is amazing! He takes a lot of pride in his work and takes his time. This guys the man only been coming here for a couple months and probably will keep coming back for as long as this guys cutting hair

First time i have been here was summer of last year. Nick is a very polite and professional barber, speaks just enough english when it comes to cutting hair. hes my second barber i go to and he happens to be viet as well. for the inexpensive haircuts he makes your money well worth spent. military discounts available

I highly recommend going to see Nick in Santee for an awesome haircut at a great price. I live in Clairemont, but still continue to head out to Santee to see Nick. He always does a great job, is super pleasant and has a bunch of cool old country DVDs playing on his TV. It’s obvious that he’s been cutting hair for a long time and is a very talented barber.

I highly recommend Nick our Barber! I dropped in between appointments in Santee a year ago and have been going to him ever since. I live at the beach and like his haircut service the best in years. He is very nice, patient, and I think he is the most skillful hair cutter I have ever met. His shop is clean. Great DVD concerts playing. I asked him about advertising and he said that he doesn’t except for his sign which Santee will not allow next to the street. He deserves your business.

Nick’s is a GREAT place to get your hair cut. Especially a classic men’s hair cut. If you’re picky and prefer a perfectionist to work on your hair choose Nick’s it’s a safe bet. Plus he only charges 8 bucks! He’s so good you might want to tip him the same amount!

Nick’s Barber Shop has been at this location for about 8 months, and operates as a one chair shop. The barber is quite personable and, more importantly, skillful. Haircuts here are inexpensive, starting at only $ 8.00, (which includes a free beard trim for our «furrier» friends!) The sign in the window offers military cuts, flat tops, spikes, and mohawks. I tried out the military cut on my recent visit; I may not have enough «natural resources» on top to give the barber much to work with for a flat top. (I believe I’ll leave the spike and mohawk for another reviewer!) I was especially impressed by the close straight razor cut offered at no extra charge. I used to get these all the time, back in the ‘80s, but barber shops stopped the practice. Well, they’re back, and completely safe; each customer is given his own single use disposable blade, and no other neck shave can hope to get as close and clean. Something was different, though. I finally figured it out: NO NICKS ! The barbers I was going to in the 80’s ALWAYS seemed to nick me, kind of a haircut and blood-​letting rutual of sorts. I realize now that my former penchant for going to elderly male barbers may have contributed to this, what with «shaky hand syndrome» and all. Well, not this fellow; he told me that when he took his training, he was required to shave a balloon, of all things. One oops, and you failed the exercise! He learned his lessons well; he’s steady as a rock! For the closest trim in town, he has my vote. Two thumbs up!

Nick’s is located at 9535 Mission Gorge Road, in the Goodyear shopping center across from the Santee Post Office. He is open weekdays from 8:30 to 6:30, and on weekends from 9:00 to 5:30.
