First off, let me start out by saying we came to this winery as the first stop in our wine tour with EOS(that we highly recommend as well). The grounds are absolutely beautiful! As for their wines, they were our overall favorite out of all three wineries. Our favorite part of the our experience at Sunstone was Bill, our tasting attendant. He is so knowledgeable, loves life and provided us with great service. All of their staff were very friendly. Oh, and their blood orange olive oil, so yummy! Overall, we loved this winery!

My boyfriend and I went up to Solvang for Valentine’s Day and we stopped in to Sunstone Vineyards to do some wine tasting. The winery is beautiful! Jon was our tasting server and he was fantastic. There are two wine flight options, we tried both of them, and both were delicious. They also do a killer olive oil tasting. We will be back as we heard they do a Merlot Madness in November.

Amazing winery ! You seriously feel like your in another world, the staff was extremely professional and helpful planning a surprise proposal for my best friend, the even coordinator is so on it and was very in touch with me up until the moment we surprised her, if your thinking of popping the question to your loved one this is a great place to do so. We started with a tasting and went for a tour of the grounds which lead to the candles into the intimate and gorgeous caves where mark was on his knee! Talk about romantic. We finished the tasting highly recommend the reserve tasting specifically cab franc ! Mark and Lindsee are now getting married here 9−30−15 cant wait to see how beautiful a wedding is here!

My sister and I visited Sunstone a couple of weeks ago during my visit out West. As a first stop, we couldn’t have chosen a better place. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and introduced to the story of Sunstone by Erica. Though they have two set lists of wine tastings, Erica offered to customize our tasting based off of my preference for whites and my sister’s preference for reds. She was very attentive, fun, and made some great suggestions. As we were finishing up our tasting, it started to get a bit busy with other groups. Though there ended up being a small wait in order to check out, we didn’t mind one bit, as Erica kept apologizing and pouring a couple more tastes to make up for the wait – one of which ended up being my favorite of the whole day. The grounds are very beautiful, and make for a great place to eat some snacks or some lunch while sobering up before moving on to other wineries. Make sure to also sample some of their olive oils in the back – they’re delicious! Overall, this was our best wine tasting experience, and I have no doubt that it can be greatly attributed to our experience with Erica. She certainly knows how to pick out some great wines based on preferences! Thank you for starting our Santa Ynez wine tasting experience on a great note!

First Unilocal review and this place has earned it. On a offseason visit to wine country with a party of 8 we were held hostage by increased pricing and offensive management giving a bad taste for the remainder of the afternoon. We were more than willing to split our group, it was not busy but to double a tasting fee because of how we «walked in» was offensive. I am from northern california where wine is abundant, for Sunstone their variety is «good» but not worth the experience. On a positive note, the grounds are beautiful but if you are looking for a warming experience this is not your best bet.

This place is very beautiful, but the service was horrible. We came for the wine tasting and multiple times were we ignored by the wine servers. Specifically the server Ashley, who would serve everyone walking in when we were standing right in front of her. Not sure what the issue was, but I would not have wasted my time driving out here if I knew my experience was going to be like this. If I could give no stars, I would.

Beautiful vineyard and great wine. My fiancée loves it and wants to get married there. I can’t afford it so what the heck am I supposed to do? I kept feeding her wine hoping she would forget how beautiful the place is. That didn’t work so what am I supposed to do now???

Really loved the location. Its off the beaten path and has a beautiful courtyard space, grassy area, and nice views. Its perfect for your lunch spot while wine tasting. Bring a picnic and enjoy the atmosphere. $ 12 for a regular 6 wine tasting, $ 15 for their reserve list. Not bad prices. We split one of each. We were not totally impressed with the wine and only liked the last two on each tasting… their bolder reds were the best of the bunch. They do start you with a bubbly which is a nice change up if you’ve been tasting all day. Not bad, just nothing special. Very nice staff who give you a nice description at each pour. I suggest grabbing a table outside, picnicking on food from the nearby El Rancho Marketplace, and going back inside to get refills on your tastings. Yes its kinda annoying to have to get up after each one, but it is so nice to sit outside and it forces you to relax and really take your time.

BEAUTIFUL Winery. Would love to have a wedding here if my husband and I decide we renew our vows in the future. Very Rustic and has that charm. We couldn’t stop taking pictures the whole time. Wine Tasting was $ 12 per person. You must try the Tuscan olive oil and the Fig Balsamic. Delicious. We ended up buying the entire stock.

Someone give Jessica… our wine tasting host a raise. LOVE her!!! She made my family(we were on an annual girls trip getaway, there were 12 of us) feel sooooo welcome and comfortable in their members only room(we are not members, but after our experience. I may just sign up). We hung out a while on this beautiful property. Three of us did reserve wine tasting… and the wines did not disappoint… their wine maker likes to blend and I was pleased with them all… not a white wine drinker… or Chardonnay fan. but this one on the reserve selection was soooooo good. I ended up purchasing the $ 55 port because that’s what I came to find on this trip. Although I didn’t get to taste it, I trusted Jessica with my purchase. A few of us purchased the balsamic vinegar… so tasty. Will be coming back here with my hubby and doing a couples trip with friends soon.

The bf and me ended up at Sunstone as our hotel package at Wine Valley Inn & Cottages included a bottle of Sunstone wine and a complimentary tasting so we headed in after check out to take advantage of the deal. After eventualy finding the tasting room since our first attempt led us to the private Villa as there were no clearly marked signs indicating otherwise it was great. However while at the Villa for probably not even 2 minutes we were rudely asked to leave by Sunstone’s event manager Sarah Zwisler who spoke to us as though we were children and asked us not to trespass. HEYLADYTAKE A CHILLPILL we politely explained to you that we got lost and were trying to figure out how to get to the tasting room no need to talk to us like we are in the 5th grade. Even though I was a bit ticked off I didn’t want that to ruin this place for me so on to the tasting room we went and had a great experience with the tasting room staff. Here is what I thought… Ambiance: Such a beautiful winery with an awesome outdoor picnic area to go and enjoy your wine and maybe some cheese if you bring them along. Total score: 5⁄5 Service: Aside from my run in with Sarah Zwisler, everyone was very nice and loved what they did which showed in how they presented each wine. Total score: 5⁄5 Price: Right on point for what they are making and pouring. Total score: 5⁄5 If in the area make sure to drop in.

If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. We had a perfectly pleasant time tasting here. The wines were nothing to write home about, though. I think the Fig Balsamic was actually my favorite thing I tasted here! The outdoor seating area is very pretty if you’re looking to linger on a nice day.

This place is the perfect getaway. Very quiet and beautiful scenery. The guy behind the counter who did the wine tasting for us was very friendly and gave us a lot of information about each wine. I will definitely be coming back here again. The wines were also very delicious and decently priced.

Beautiful grounds with plenty of parking. The winery is beautiful and the samples were good. Problem: not enough pourers for the amount of visitors. The lady who was pouring for us was nice and knowledgable, but she continually had to stop to cash people out and sell other items. The small flies(fruit?) are all over and in your face when you’re drinking. I know it’s a winery but keeping out the flies would make the experience more pleasant. We would come back.

This is a small venue. It’s really affordable. I had everything off their menu and let me just say, the red and white wines were perfect. By the way, The view here is breath taking.

Sunstone is a beautiful winery! The grounds are great to picnic. The members tasting cave is the best! I really like the Pinot here and Reserve List! The balsamic vinegars and olive oils are tasty. Friendly knowledgeable staff.

Had such a nice relaxing time at Sunstone Vineyards. They offer two types of tastings: Classic List for $ 12 with six 2oz pours of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rose, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Syrah. Or the Reserve List for $ 15 which includes five 2 oz pours of Viognier ‘Linda’s”, Rapsodie, Merlot Reserve, Syrah, and Milestone Merlot. I soon learned the Classic list did not contain much of the type of wines I enjoy drinking, the sweeter stuff. The girl pouring our wine happen to overhear my preference and surprised me by offering a glass of Malvasia Bianca, probably one of the lightest and most refreshing sweet white wines I’ve had in a while. They describe it as «Intoxicating floral perfume notes, mandarin orange, citrus blossoms, honey and lychee are heightened by accents ripe Bosc pears, pineapple, passion fruit and allspice. This dessert wines mildly sweet and opulent mouthfeel is balanced by zesty acidity on the palate.» Amazing deal as it only costs $ 20 a bottle! I now know to just buy a bottle of this specific wine on my following trip to enjoy on their property.

We went to Solvang to visit the little German village, and Unilocaled nearby wineries to go on a tasting. This one caught our attention immediately. The user pictures don’t do it justice. Although very good pictures, you must see it. The tasting room/bar looks like an old Italian villa. So much charm, and a very inviting atmosphere. The price of the tasting was really really reasonable. We got 6 wine tastings for $ 12(3 white /3 red) The bartender was extremely knowledgeable, and described the wine without the normal arrogance that comes with the territory. All descriptions were concise, and left mostly up to the taster. He did offer the notes he felt to be most prevalent, and the rest was left to interpretation. I will definitely go back. A really intimate, tucked away vineyard. Highly recommend! (I don’t have any pictures that I took from the day, but the ones on here are great)

This place is amazing!!! From the hillside views to the calm serene feeling you get when arriving here. All I can say is I love this winery!!! My co-worker is a member and she had to pick up her shipment. It’s $ 12 for up to 4 people max for a tasting with a member. This includes 6 flights. The bonus is you get to try yummy olive oils with balsamic vinegar(bread provided). I could have just stayed here all day eating the bread, EVOO, and Balsamic Vinegars alone! My favorite was the garlic infused olive oil. I purchased this olive oil for $ 14 at 30% off thanks to my co-workers membership! Yes you can also reap the benefits of a members discount as well; so that’s a bonus in my book! I also purchased a delicious smelling candle«Brown Sugar & Fig». It’s to die for!!! If you love candles I highly recommend this one. It’s subtle fragrance is sweet and not overpowering but gives enough aroma to make your room smell like heaven. Jessica was our server and she was a fun person who made us feel very welcomed! It felt like we had known her forever. I will say that most of the staff here are very welcoming and friendly so no complaints on that end! When you step into this winery it feels like you’re entering a dark cave with a rustic feeling! But it’s definitely a fun place to visit! Feel free to bring your own food, snacks or anything you desire and enjoy the outside patio area while you sip on their delicious wines!
