I was browsing through the Santa Ynez Valley Magazine — Winter 2014⁄2015 and I was planning to visit The Sage. After reading Marcy’s review I think NOT! I am a brown skin woman who will not tolerate discrimination/racism in any situation. I’ll take my business elsewhere and I strongly suggest other minorities should do the same.

My coworker and I both walked into Sage in awe of the beautiful items such as quality place settings and fine kitchen linens. We both smiled and said hello to the two clerks working in the store only to receive cold hard looks from both of them. One of the clerks stayed behind the counter with her arms folded and the other clerk seemed to be watching us. I felt like I should leave immediately, but my coworker continued to look and finally settled on a few items. When we went to the counter to make the purchase, not one single word was said. Not one! I could not help but to feel that our brown skin had something to do with how we were greeted(or not acknowledged). My coworker and I are not people who go around thinking that we are the victims of discrimination;but this was just blatant, in our faces, and I had to write this review. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this store and advise my family and friends not to as well.
