Think Tank Photo Inc

Absolutely top notch products and service. I used to be a Domke customer but their product quality has taken a nosedive since being acquired by Tiffen. I now use almost everything Think Tank including a rolling carry on (Airport Airstream), backpack (Urban Approach 15), belt (Thin Skin 2.0) and various pouches and straps (Cable Management, Slim Changer, etc.). Once my old Domke satchels wear out I will be 100% Think Tank except for my tripod/​lighting bags which Think Tank does not have in their lineup as of this writing, with the exception of their very large and expensive Production Manager 40 which is big enough for an entire portable studio setup.
What do I like about Think Tank? Just a few off the top of my head:
1) Overbuilt in the right places, like their use of over-​gauged YKK zippers.
2) Only as much padding as necessary and no more, minimizing bulk and weight without sacrificing reasonable protection.
3) Tasteful design. Small logo and subdued colors that look smart yet don’t attract unwanted attention. Their products can be used for casual street shooting or at an upscale wedding.
4) Customer service. Extremely quick response. For example, extra dividers are available for very reasonable cost, and shipped very quickly.
There are certain things I like and dislike about the various individual pieces I own but everybody’s different so no one product can please everyone 100% of the time. But overall, as a line, Think Tank is to now what Domke was to the 80s and 90s: made for working photographers who need reliable, well-​made products that get the job done.
Only two things I wish for:
1) The reintroduction of long bags for tripods and lighting gear. They used to make a bag called the «Bazooka» that had an ingenious method of extension to accommodate tripods/​stands of different lengths (hence the name), but was discontinued.
2) Make their products in the USA, but I’m sure that would send their currently still-​reasonable prices into the stratosphere.

So I bought my first Think Tank camera bag way back when they were a new company and have loved my bag ever since. Of course as a professional photographer, you beat up your gear a bit and finally my bag had gotten worn out a bit and the zipper was busted. I talked to their customer service folks and they said they could take a look at it and since they aren’t too far away and I had a shoot nearby, I asked if I could just drop by since it’s hard to go without your camera bag even for a couple days.
I stopped by their offices and they are super nice and have fantastic customer support. They showed me two options to replace my old bag with newer models since the one I had was so old school. We settled on a slightly smaller bag that seems perfect, and I can’t say enough how nice it is to support a company that stands behind it’s products and does great customer service. Definitely recommend Think Tank whole heartedly!
