We had the pupusas and flautas which where AMAZING! The salsa was spicy and all the veggies were nice and crisp, super fresh. The staff was soo kind welcoming I’m def coming back soon!

I absolitely felt unwelcome in this establishment Being the only customers in there i had to wait for everyone to quit chatting with their friends. When i finally recieved an acknowlegment, it was unfriendly and definitely cold. Like i was interupting them. After i placed my to go order they started talking trash about me and my brother, in spanish. We were standing right there. Seriously, I know I am white, but I can totally understand Spanish Maybe don’t talk trash about your customers.

This place is definitely not worth the value. I couldn’t believe the prices and portion sizes. Will never be back!

Showed up right as they were closing, they opened everything back up and cooked two of the best Vegi Burritos I’ve had. Props to the cook and manager for killer service.

I’ve tried quite a few things off of the menu here, and they are all good, but it is really the availability of great pupusas that keeps me coming back.

I went here last night and ordered a chicken nacho plate, to go. I was barely acknowledged by the staff. Just an icy vibe in here. But it didn’t matter because, I get it, you all speak Spanish, I’m white, I don’t. Se la vie. I was just excited for the food because their menu boasts«all natural ingredients– NOCANS». Alright. However, after waiting 20 minutes while the ladies behind the counter all laughed and joked around with some guy who came in not even to order anything, just hang out, I began to grow impatient and considered just walking out because it seemed like they just forgot about me. Finally a couple minutes later I saw movement back in the kitchen and could tell it was my food being prepared. But wait, what are those back there on the counter? Are those store bought tortilla chips? And I’m hearing a microwave door open and then close and then the beeps. I walked out. So, to summarize: –cold unfriendly greeting –23 minute wait(no bathroom here btw) –people who are just friends of the employees have priority over paying customers. –boasts of natural ingredients unfounded as they use store-bought items and microwave their food. Not sure I’ve ever seen that at a taqueria.

Please don’t let the ghetto signage and location fool you, this food is amazing. There is a one-woman show taking orders, creating your dish from scratch, serving it up, asking you hilarious questions in Spanish and bussing the tables. The meal takes a little while to arrive because it is being made from scratch, but it is so, so worth it. I had the ceviche Peruvian style with the perfect ratio of shrimp, fish, ginger and fresh veggies ‘un pocito picante’(a little spicy) with a side of guacamole = heaven. Fresh, perfectly spiced and the avocado to back you up when the bite gets you :) My 6 year-old had beans and flautas and was perfectly content. Great food, friendly atmosphere, plastic chairs. Quite yummy when you have a little time to spare.

I absolutely love the pupusas here they are really fresh and taste divine. It’s usually a long wait even when we take out and call in advance, but it’s worth the wait. Go here if you can, and try the pupusas.

I love that Taco Max only uses fresh ingredients for their food! Nothing comes out of a can. Their pupusas taste amazing and are to die for! Burritos are yummy as well, but they are a little bit small compared to other ones in Santa Rosa. Tacos and quesadilla are a little dissapointing. Not much flavor and they don’t stand out from the other places in the area. The atmosphere is also not very welcoming, nobody greets you when you walk in. You have to initiate the conversation to order your food. If you want some fresh Mexican food in a no-frills Mexican restaurant, try out Taco Max!

No one speaks english, so you know it’s authentic. Food took a while, because they made everything fresh, from scratch. Pretty great stuff. Meals were around $ 10 per person. Worth it.

Pupusas are good, better than other places in Santa Rosa! I should try other items, because the carne asada looks delicious.

This place has gone downhill quite a bit since I came last year. Menu board is chicken scratched and questionable cleanliness of the kitchen and restaurant. I usually get the pupusas which are 3 for $ 9. Pretty steep compared to others in Santa Rosa. But it’s close to work and probably the last I’ll be here.

Amazingly good Pupusas. Very authentic. Made by a friendly Salvadorian woman. Good curtido as well. The pupusas are so good, I go there twice a week. Tried the chicken tamales and honestly can not recall having a better tamale ever! Being Salvadorian I’m pretty picky about Pupusas. Highly recommended!

The beef stew and home made tortillas were sublime. The food is all home made, and is very, very good. The comments from the pupusaria folks that like the ones by the fairgrounds just sound like weird sour grapes to me. The fairgrounds place is fine, but no reason to knock this one. Pupusas are just one thing on the menu here, and they are really good.

This lil ‘hole in the wall’ place is family run and wonderful! The burrito is top 10 burritos of all time. There’s a seasoning that is very special. The pork(cochinita) is amazing. The beans are steamed and totally vegetarian.

I wandered in here when I was planning on going to the sub shop in the same plaza. I’m glad I did though! The burrito I ordered was very large and had salsa, avocado and sour cream drizzled on top of it. Everything tasted extremely fresh and homemade. It was very hot and all of the cheese inside was melted. It came with some chips and salsa. The chips were hearty and thick but the salsa was not spicy enough for my taste. The place seemed nice and clean but most of the tables were plastic patio sets with plastic table cloths. This made it feel slightly crappy and could turn people off. I enjoyed it and would return again sometime.

Lady working was friendly; she had 3 pupusas just going on the grill when I got there, and believe that she gave me those; 2 our of 3 were not what I ordered.(Also, language barrier) Approx. 30% smaller than competitor and about 30% more expensive on the pupusas– tasty but the filling was sparse. Curtido salad was served on plate, maybe 2 tablespoons worth; competitor brings a bowl of it to your table. Husbands«super quesadilla» was fully eaten in less than 5 minutes because 1. Husband was hungry 2. Quesadilla was tasty 3. Portion was VERYSMALL With their higher prices, perhaps they could offer some chips and salsa while you wait for the food… just a thought Although the food was good, when we left, my husband said, «good appetizer, what are we going to eat for dinner’. Often, $ 22.00 in a basic Latin café will buy enough to satisfy 2. I had hoped that I would like this spot for pupusas as well as the other one in town. This one is closer to home for me. They did not win me over!

To start off, great service but poor value. It’s one of a few places in SR that sell pupusas. I’d prefer the place by the fairgrounds, though(Pupuseria Salvadorena.) They’re $ 0.50 more expensive per pupusa than Pupuseria Salvadorena. Everything else on the menu is grossly overpriced. We also ordered a chicken quesadilla and chicken burrito. The quesadilla was made with like an 8″ tortilla and a small amount of chicken and cheese. There was also only a handful of chips in the order. This quesadilla was $ 8.00! I’d expect something so small to cost less than $ 5.00. Second, the chicken burrito was smaller than any other burrito at any other Mexican place I’ve ever seen. Again, there were only a few chips in the Styrofoam container. This burrito was $ 7.00, again, for what we received, should not have cost more than $ 6.00. The restaurant has no atmosphere and lacks décor. Definitely not coming back.

Owner was absolutely awesome with customer service. I order one thing but told him that I had a hard time deciding because I love ceviche and I ordered something else that I love as well. He said, «Here let me give you a sample so you know next time whether you want to order it or not.» Smart man. The taco salad I had with al pastor was good and filling. I am definitely going back to try the rest of the menu. Try it for yourself.
