I had avoided getting a colonoscopy for a few years after hitting the magic age. My GP gave me that look that it needed to be done and the momentum of the referral made it all inevitable. No one likes such an invasive thing to be done but you gotta do what you gotta do. The review is about Dr. Kohli but consider that there are several nurses, technicians and assistants that make this all happen and no kidding, it was as close to a spa experience as a medical procedure can get. The staff at Sutter Gastroenterology were some of the nicest and informative people I have ever encountered. Dr. Kohli spent considerable time getting to know me and exhibited a warm and caring bedside manner. He seemed like a regular guy… but a Board Certified regular guy! Throughout the process, I was made comfortable and never had any anxiety that someone was about to jam a laser tipped camera up my @$$. It is absolutely true that the worst thing about a colonoscopy is the prep, which tasted like hawaiian punch flavored cough syrup but I can’t blame anyone at Sutter for that. In fact, I had the least objectionable flavored colon power wash available. The meds were good stuff, no hangover and I don’t remember the procedure at all, one of them being an amnesiac. The staff made sure I knew who I was and what procedure I was undergoing which is nice to make sure I don’t get an arm lopped off. So, if you are having any apprehensions of getting a colonoscopy, don’t worry as these are the minds and hands of experts.
